suggest a new breakfast food for me!
I'm stuck eating oatmeal or peanut butter on toast or fruit.
Any other ideas pref under 300 cals?
thanks
cereal! with skim milk!
grits! grits with a slice of cheese!
egg white omelette at 15 cals per white, with any veggies you like and a little bit of cheese in it (100 cals per ounce of cheese, about one slice of pre-sliced cheese)

Bran flakes with some sort of fruit (this morning I had a bit of galia melon) and milk. I use soy milk, it was heavenly. You could also try going for something like yoghurt or orange juice with your flakes....or some low-fat rye bread with a light type of cheese, that'd be the continental version.
i love a frozen banana smoothie in the morning. this morning, whole wheat pancakes. some days, veggie omelet with one egg plus one egg white. sometimes all bran with chopped apple and cinnamon and a few choppped almonds. or diced oranges in lowfat cottage cheese! yum!!!!! i love breakfast! i eat out (breakfast) on sunday w/ hubby and get rye toast-no butter w my egg-beater omelet, and put my sliced tomatoes on it. (they let me substitute tomato slices for the hash-browns.)
blurredkh: what's a galia melon?

Err......it's one with red flesh inside and it's green on the outside with those textured veins. Maybe another food that has a different name in the USA?
How about Special K with milk, and an orange :) (or other piece of fruit :) )
grits! with a little brown sugar! or muesli with some sort of milk (depending on what you drink) add some raisins and a banana? Or buy almond butter it will give your toast a completely different taste
2 Kashi Golean frozen waffles (170 cal) with ricotta cheese and strawberries instead of syrup
Or - cook 1/4 cup of egg beaters and sandwich between the two waffles for a breakfast sandwich.
That is, if you eat dairy and eggs.

I just realized yesterday when searching for something to eat that 2 blueberry eggo waffles are 190 cals (for both of them), and I heat them in the toaster and I like them without butter or syrup... weird, I know, but I like them like that... and they're an A on the grading scale!
what great suggestions!!! I am currently trying - no - on my way to losing 60 lbs... I have found it very difficult to cut the fat from my diet... I love rich foods... Anyway, sure am glad I found this site...
claire- you are a genius.... I never thought of adding anything between the waffles!!!! I must go find things to add now...
Here's my first post as a new member! Anyway, I like Dannon's Light 'n Fit Vanilla yogurt (i think it's 60 cals per serving) with whatever berries look good at the time (which is, luckily a lot in the summer!).
Man, these are all good suggestions- uh oh- now i'm hungry!
Mabye i'll have breakfast for dinner tonight :)
I get eggo nutrigrain whole wheat waffles. I can put natural peanut butter with 2 tsp of preserves on them, or some applesauce, or some sugar free maple syrup (only 25 cal a serving - which I think is a 1/4 of a cup - that's a lot of syrup)
TOFU SCRAMBLE !!!
its an excellent source of protien...and its tasty and low in calories.
amy's makes and excellent tofu scrambler pocket sandwich. its 180 calories and it has great little flavorings including peppers and shitake mushrooms.
fantastic brand makes good mix if you want to make your own scrambler. (its a little high in sodium cause of the spices) but its quick and fast.
or you can do you're own...flavoring your scrambled tofu with turmeric, cumin , adobo, and whatever other spices you might enjoy.
i do the english muffin thing...i like toasted things...so its a good substitue for bread...
also fruit and melba toast.
bran flakes is one someone already put up but i love it too.

Buckwheat pancakes! (egg replacer and soy milk if you dont eat dairy). They are sooo good. You can get a buckwheat mix at a health food store or I mixed Buckwheat with Rice Flour. DELICIOUS :) Plus you can make a bunch and save them for other mornings.
ooo pancakes!!1
and if you're lazy...there are buckwheat waffles!!!

Haven't read all the replies, but one that I've come to absolutely love is granola. The co-op I go to has a fantastic hemp seed granola (bulk section) that is extremely tasty and good for you!
xpreciousroyx~I love Tofu scramble!!!
I think Malt O Meal is another great filling breakfast, or homemade healthy blueberry muffins w/ a little peanut butter for some added protein,
Elin~It sounds like bluredkh is describing what we call a watermelon. YUM. Thats one of my favorite fruits because there is no hint of sourness like you get with a lot of fruit.

thanks! i missed that reply til you brought it up again. def sounds like watermelon. of which i have a lot in the fridge right now!
I love Amy's meals for freezer stand-by's. My local market doesnt seem to carry all of them though- I didnt know they made a tofu scramble pocket- that sound's yum. I love Amy's Pizza- much better crust and less greasy than delivery- I have to be careful though- I could eat a whole one no problem!
