Any suggestion on yogurt??

Quote  |  Reply
I have herd people say that Dannon Light and Fit yogurt 40-60 calories are filled with SWEETENER which is BAD for your heath. But I don't know what other LOW-CAL and LOW FAT yogurt should I eat?? Others also seems to be filled with sugar!!  By the way, I love these following flavors
Plain (I LOVE this), Banana, Vanilla (And lime pie....well, kinda)
It would be great if you guys have any suggestion....because I eat a lot of yogurt... (4-5 of these a week..this is a lot considering I don't have a fridge so I left them outside the window and since I'm in Pennsylvania so it's kinda cold this time of year.)
Thanks!!

i love you idea to keep them outside since you dont have a fridge!!!
Well if you have a target nearby they carry a brand called Archer Farms. I just discovered their line of fat free yogurts with 70-90 cals per container. It is also very thick and creamy. Unfortunatley it does have aspartame, but it is the last ingredient listed so I think that means it doesn't have much. Could be wrong. Other then that I am addicted to Fage yogurt!
Not sure if you have these in the US.. but I love Yoplait Source Vanilla Selections (blueberry, strawberry, apple, and peach)... they have 35 calories and NO aspartame!
Sounds interesting!! I have to go and check it out in Price Chopper. Thanks!!
I'll second the Archer Farms suggestion...I just tried the Banana Cream Pie and Strawberry Shortcake, and they were delicious, and actually substantive, unlike most FF yogurt.

Greek yogurt all the way baby!

Fage 0% or Oikos Nonfat. It's thick and delicious! And the Oikos comes in unsweetened vanilla so you can eat it right like that or add your favorite sweetner. The Fage is oh so good with fruit or (decadent) with honey drizzled on top....oh how I miss honey.

I second the vote for Fage yogurt. I've always been bothered by the "plastic" taste of leading-brand plain yogurt, but Fage tastes amazingly creamy and a little bit tart -- like homemade. I mix it with shredded cucumber, garlic powder, and mint for a Greek/Indian lunch, or with Granny Smith apples, walnuts, and cinnamon for something more conventional.

Has anyone in the U.S. found Yoplait Source? I really want to try it but I can't find it anywhere : (
i am a yogurt freak, i eat yogurt, at least a cup of it everyday. i have my own yogurt maker, and i use 2 percent homogonized milk and a stonyfield yogurt culture as my starter.

However, i Reccomend only buying and eating PLAIN yogurt, i personally find it to be the most useful and practical, you can have different flavors everyday. ALso, i would avoid yogurts that use a ton of gelatin and fillers, not to mention artifical sweetners.

Brands that are good sweetened kinds are Stonyfield, Brown Cow, Fage and my new favorite Liberte ( uses apple concentrate)

Brown cow uses real maple syrup very often for its sugar.

yogurts like dannon light and fit ARE NOT HEALTHY CHOICES>.......

i like silk yogurt because i'm mildly lactose intolerant, but if i have lactaid pills on hand, i like to eat plain yogurt(any brand, but i like stonyfield) with fresh berries. the dannon light and fit yogurts are loaded with artificial sweeteners and just taste really gross to me because they put so much of it in there. definitely stay away from those. if you want a light yogurt, try yoplait's fat free yogurts.

This probably won't help you personally (I assume you're a student) but I bought a yogurt maker for about $40 for a fairly 'deluxe' model. I make 7 six oz servings of fat free sugar free yogurt in four hours. It gets nice and thick if I just heat the skim milk til boiling in the microwave, then once it cools down add a little yogurt for starter. You can make it as mild or tart as you like by adjusting the time in the maker. I can use it in recipes, add fruit or sweetner if I feel like it, and I really like it plain with cereal or a little vanilla. Super cheap too!

I surprised missli needs lactaid to eat yogurt since any yogurt with active cultures has the same enzyme in it. They recommend yogurt to people with mild LI as a good calcium source.

Go for the plain fage 0% - you can add fruit to sweeten of spices for savory.  I even use that in place of sour cream, I love love love it.  It's unlike any other grocery store yogurt.
