Suggestions anyone?? In desperate need of losing those last 3 lbs!!!

Quote  |  Reply

Anyone have any Real advice on how to lose those stubborn last few pounds?

I was trying to lose 10 pounds by June 1st (my anniversary) in which we always go to the beach. The whole weekend, I am using just wearing a bathing suit because we are hanging out on the beach. Usually I don't have a problem but I gained some unwanted pounds last year(and gained a stomach).  I have been successful losing 7 but can't seem to lose the last 3. I'm sure some people would probably say that I don't need to lose anything because I am  5'7 @ 123lbs, but I have always been a size 2 even after having my son (who  is now 11). I'm pretty close but not close enough. Just want to be my old self again! Please help!

No offense but why do you need to see those last 3 lbs gone??  Is it really going to make a major difference??  I highly doubt it!  I understand this is for anyone who wants to lose weight but, come on-- 3 lbs??  Enjoy the beach and drink some water--you'll pee it out!

In actuality, 3 pounds won't make a difference if you are severly overweight (at least you probably won't be able to visually see it), however for a smaller person, you will. When I weighed 120, I fit in all my clothes perfectly and I'm almost there now so I know that losing the 3 extra pounds would get me where I want to be. BTW, I drink 2.2 liters of water every day! Please if you can't give positive advice then keep the negativity to yourself.

do you do any weight lifting? what you may really need is to tone your body. This can give a more slender appearance and size, without the weightloss. Plus, if you've had a child, and you're getting a little older than you once were, it starts to become more and more difficult to get a few pounds to come off (from what I have heard). When I was a lot smaller, it got more and more difficult to lose the weight once I was closer to my goal. Don't fret. Mix things up, maybe try zigzagging calories, or drinking green tea at meals, these are all suggestions I have heard.

And  even at 180 lbs, 3 pounds does make a difference too, it's the difference between fitting pants, and tightly fitting pants. :)

OMG, 3 lbs is everything when you are this close your ideal weight. I know. I just posted "5 lbs later", (go read if you get a chance.) I did calorie shifting, carb cycling and hard core exercise. Every other day of circuit/weight training, cardio in betweeen 6 days per week. I allowed mysefl to drink alcohol only on Sat's and took Sunday off from my work outs to recover. I just dropped 5 lbs in 4 weeks and from looking at my pics it doesn't look that much differnt. My waist is leaner, my clothes fit better and I just feel better. I say go for it. Rather it's 1 lbs or 100 you are looking to get off we are here for your support. This website is about maintaning a "healthy" weight by doing it in a healthy manner. Best wishes!

Thanks kristicro, I was reading about the zigzagging today I think I might try that. Yeah, I  know that 3 pounds can make your pants fit tighter/looser but I guess the other responder didn't, lol.Laughing

I was typing a lovely reply but then I thought---why waste my breath!!  I guess you were replying that I'm not a "smaller person"  oh well--have fun with the weight loss!!

My reply about probably not being able to visually see a 3 pound difference in an overweight person had nothing to do with you personally, gosh! Never saw you before to make that judgement. Again save the negativity and sarcasam. This site should be about support, not breaking one's spirit.

I'm in the same boat, I have 4.5 pounds to lose. But I'm not on a deadline so i"m taking it slow. I hope someone can give us some ideas! And i totally agree, a couple pounds can make a big difference when you aren't overweight.

I would recommend a 300 cal per day deficit instead of 500 for you Jennpz. It's slower but you'll still average 1/2 lb per week. Exercise is everything though. Gotta get moving! Wink

Ok guys let's chill lets not have this cause a silly fight ... somethings things don't come across very well when we type alot of our expression is lost.

I agree im trying to lose about 6lb's - 10lb and to me right now it seems like EVERYTHING!!! i know alot of people would kill to be my weight but im really just not happy with the way i look or feel atm.

im a dancer and back at christmas i could get work 10lb's later i can't because im concidered over weight ... silly hu ?? 10lbs seems a tiny amount to worry about but it does make that much difference visually, and 10 teenie weenie pounds is stopping me from working right now.

I wish i could help, im stuggling myself but i just wanted to let you know your not alone!!!

Hey there! I totally get the point about not being able to see weight loss at certain weights. When I started my weight-loss journey in Sept. of 2003 (my first 4 weeks I did Atkins, then I switched to WW) I was over 240 lbs! I lost 18 lbs in my first month but it didn't show. In fact, I couldn't see a difference in photos until I had lost about 30 lbs (and I was working out - Nordic Track, BodyFlex and Callanetics) and it was nearly 50 lbs before other people started to notice!

I reached my goal weight (at my high end) of 148 in early December of 2005 and in the early Summer of 2006 I put about 5 lbs back on.  In the last two years I have been trying to lose that 5 lbs!  It's harder to lose that than it was to lose the 98 I lost in the first place!

I have a small amount of weight to lose too.  I think I was a skinny/ fat person.  Small in stature and looked OK in clothes, but very un-fit and mushy.  I have been working out with strength training and cardio during the last year and I have firmed up and taken off inches.  I like the changes.  But I still have a lot of cellulite.

I'm 5 feet tall and weigh 104.  I'd like to get down to 100 to see if it will budge my cellulite.  I have been on a 1200 cal diet since may 13th and I lost 1.5 pounds.  Very hard won I must say.  The low cal intake is making me very irritable and I think about food all the time.  I can't really say I'm hungry because I'm eating lots of fruits, veggies and lean protein, but I CRAVE my wine and processed carbs. (I'm not a huge wine drinker, but my husband and I would normally share a bottle once or twice a week, and I usually have a few glasses on the weekends.)

I am very concerned about the upcoming holiday weekend.  I will be on the beach with family and there will be lots of wine, beer, margaritas, appetizers, chips, salsa, buttery seafood dinners, you name it.  How can I avoid losing the little ground that I've gained.  Can anyone give me some inspiration on how to stay strong and eat healthy this weekend??  The temptation will be great and basically, I just LOVE food.

Hi there,

I just did the master cleanse and stuck to it for 11 days, ate for 4 very lightly and did another 6 days.

I felt fabulous, however:

1) I used to be a caffeine junkie and on the first day the headache I had by the time evening came was absolutely unbearable. My eyes teared and I really could not function. I went to bed at 10 and slept a full 8 hours. I woke up headache free but the minute I moved my head right after getting out of bed, I felt minor pain again. This headache subsided over the first 3-4 days, being much less painful on day 2.

2) I think the detoxing produces a cramping kind of pain in the lower limbs, lower back, hips (maybe kidneys). This pain is not obvious when moving about, but when sitting to work or sleeping at night, it actually woke me up. The pain prevented me from laying still and I woke up from it. I went on a brisk 45 minute walk to counteract it the 2nd day. I had the energy not a problem. The pain was back at night for the first 3 nights. Night 4 was fine.

3) thereafter no more pain.

4) I did not plan perfectly and had my period right on the first of the days, that, I am sure contributed to the discomfort.

5) I got a sinus cold on day 4-7. Really bad. But I discharged a lot of mucus and I think it had to do with detoxing.

6) This diet is fully sufficient. Although I must admit I envisioned potroast for day 2-3, thereafter I did not want food at all. I had tons of energy, extremely hightened ability to focus. No hunger. Absolutely felt fabulous.

7) By day 10-12 I felt better than ever. I started orange juice so that I could eat in time for mothers day. (may 14, my first day of light food).

8) I ate sunday - tuesday. Did a half fast day wednesday and was back on the fast for another 6 days.

9) MUST: plan your days of coming off the diet well ahead. Have the right foods at home. I suggest to drink freshly squeezed orange juice. It is fabulous and preps your body to digest food again.

10 MUST: have vegan broth and leafy greens available for day 2

11 My pitfall is I seem to have this intense need for sugar in the days following the diet. I ate too much of it and hence I went back on the diet, but this time around, again, I am falling for sugar. I think I have solved this issue. Today I squeezed oranges & 1 lemon, added the maple and I was fine after that.

12 burroughs in his book the master cleanser advises to have the lemonade for breakfast (1 glass) daily. Now I understand why. It keeps you from needing the other stuff i think.

13 GOOD NEWS: I have not had caffeine since and do NOT miss it.

14 I have not had dairy and have switched to silk soymilk

15 i have not had meat since and am very happy without it

16 because i have eaten too much sugar in the past 3 days since being off the diet, I will start it again for another 6 days to then continue the lemonade as a daily breakfast to prevent sugar cravings.

17 my girlfriends tried but have not pushed through the pain. Trust me the pain is well worth it. You will feel fabulous, light, clean, healthy, energetic, sexy, and look fabulous.

18 I noted my eyes to be clearer as well.

ADVICE: Read Stanley Burroughs the master cleanser - you can find it on amazon for $6.50.

FORGET about the expensive books and kits - totally unnecessary

DO make sure you get Maple Syrup GRADE B >> in miami, publix sells one kind of it.. look for it. However, burroughs says to use the one without formaldehyde, so go for maple valley syrup.

Do use fresh lemons only. Best if organic. Room temperature lemons will yield more juice.

I did succumb to getting a professional, electric juicer because by day 12, I was super tired of squeezing 7 to 8 lemons, making 16 halves, daily. It hurts your elbow after a while ... lol.. heavy exercise.

cayenne, I got the one from the healthfood store but I think regular one will do as long as it is fresh. old spices loose their intensity.

recipe for one day:

12 tbsp lemon juice

12 tbsp grade b maple syrup (NOT the regular pancake syrups nor regular grade A maple syrup would do)

1/2 tsp cayenn (NOTE: I reduced that to 3/8th of a tsp. HOWEVER.. on the first day, you can do 1/4 tsp, then 3/8th of a tsp. Otherwise it is intense in the back of your throat. It does take getting used to.)

60 ounces of DISTILLED water

MIX and enjoy. I love it.

Benefits are not a reduction (weight loss) necessarily.

If a person is underweight, under this regimen a person will actually gain weight in a healthy way. The minerals, enzymes, etc in these ingredients will not only detox, but rebuild your body from the cell level.

Maple is one of natures balanced sugars. I now use it to sweeten soy milk mixed with Pero (barley coffee substitute).

Lemon is one of the most complete foods known to men.

Cayenne raises your body temperature so that you are not cold. It increases your circulation. It liquifies mucus in your body.

This fast will rebuild and heal your body's conditions that were brought on over years of ingested preservatives, chemicals, sugars, meats, hormones, etc.

I will do this fast 3-4 times annually to cleanse.

Wow.  That sounds extremely painful.  I am suffering so much on a reduced calorie diet, there is no way I could survive on that regemin.  I guess if it works for you, God bless.  But it doesn't seem healthy to do it too often or for too long.  Where is the protein?  I absolutely can't exercise vigorously if I don't get enough protein every day.

How about upping your fiber intake?  I read an article about the Fiber35 Diet and "research shows" that for every gram of fiber you ingest, it prevents 7 calories from being absorbed by the body and that fiber provides the same satiety as fat for zero calories.  The author did research and found that 35 grams was a low as her patients could go (and herself, too) and still lose weight. (along with a healthy, nutrient-rich diet of course!)  I (at my higher weight) have aimed for 50 grams of fiber per day and eat things like beans, fruits and veggies, Fiber One Honey Clusters cereal, Fiber One yogurt, Fiber One bars, etc. and have lost 77.5 lbs since last August.  Sometimes I fall short, but I do make my minimum 35 grams.  PS - I didn't buy the book, but I'm sure it's worth checking out...  Good luck!

I know your pain - losing the last few is really hard.  I posted earlier about losing in big chunks - maybe your body is waiting and will suddenly "let go" of a big chunk of weight.  That seems to be what my body does.  I wish I had some suggestions, but all I can say is I agree that 3lbs can be important!  Happy Anniversary!

Can someone tell me what foods/snacks are high in fiber without having to take in a bunch of calories and carbs. Thanks
