Any suggestions?

Are there any suggestions for a low cal crunchy salty snack other than popcorn?  This is what I crave when I have a craving.

Thanks!

Here are two you could consider:

  • Chex Mix 100 Calorie packs
  • Cheerios Snack Mix

Both have 60-65% less fat than potato chips, but you need to be careful weigh or measure how much you eat becasue it's east to keep munching nce you start!

Good Luck!

Mine takes a few minutes, but I really enjoy it when I have a salt craving...

Take 1/2 a wholewheat pita, tear into "chip" sized pieces, I use about 10 spritzes of the Parkay butter spray(just to make the salt stick), and then I sprinkle with garlic salt. Put under the broiler for 5 mins and you have an awesome altenative to tortilla chips, some days, I'll sprinkle 5g of real parmesan on them before going under the broiler, and eat them like that, and some days I skip the cheese and eat them with fresh salsa. :o)

Roasted garbanzo beans.

i really like these! my favorite variety is Kettle Corn, but Apple Cinnamon is also tasty.

I like lightly salted rice cakes, you can eat them plain or with a topping, pretty much anything you can think of!

The two fairly new Special K crackers are really good.  They come in both Multi-grain and Italian Tomato and Herb.  Only 120 calories for 24 crackers (or 90 calories for 17 crackers).  They're great to scoop up hummus with, too!  Give 'em a try.

celery or carrot sticks with salt. yummy...

Pickles are low cal and crunchy.  Very high salt though.

at Whole Foods they have their 356 brand.... They have Soy Crispettes! They are full of protein and are 120 calories for 21 of them! Plus they are delicious... They have a sea salt flavor which is my favorite

Mmm - Salty & Crunchy, my favorite!

I Love: Bell Peppers & Salt... Nori Sheets... Sesame Seeds... Cabbage & Olive Tapenade... Broiled Eggplant Strips seasoned with Salt, Garlic & Onion Powder...

Yea, that's all I can think of right now: I don't eat gluten, starch, flour, etc so these ideas of mine might not "tickle you fancy" but I tried! ha ha.

One of the great benefits of not eating processed foods is that you get to put salt on all kinds of stuff and get a much more intense salty flavour because your taste buds are more sensitive to it and because it's right on top.  I worried I was putting too much salt on my food for a long time, but the last time I bought salt I weighed it and then averaged out my consumption over 3 months and I was actually a little under target...woohoo.  If you eat processed foods you often get so much salt in the packaged stuff that if you also add it at the table sometimes you go way over.

So cut out processed foods and salt the hell out of everything...lol..
