Any suggestions on keeping milk cold?

Quote  |  Reply
I'm starting back to school soon, and one of my favorite things to eat during the day is whole grain cereal and cold milk.  I will miss being able to eat that once I'm not at home with my milk in the refrigerator.  I know it's probably not possible, but I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions on making milk transportable?  Like, would it go bad if I took it in a thermos for a few hours, and packed the thermos in ice?  Or if I froze some milk the night before and let it thaw out during the day?  Just wondering what you guys think.

Get an insulated lunch bag and you can put a lunch size carton or bottle in it with a cold pak.  (I don't suggest ice - that will melt and get messy.)
Frozen milk just doesn't tastes the same.  Thermos would work, don't have to pack on ice if using within a few hours.  Could even put one or two ice cubes in it, they won't melt completely (if you have the "plastic" cubes, they work perfectly for this).  Can also freeze bottle of watter, place next to milk (in bottle, thermos, carton) in your backpack (wrap napkin around water for condensation) and will keep cold for long time too.
Hey, those are great ideas, thanks!
I transport my kid's milk to day care everyday in an insulated bottle that I put inside an insulated bottle bag.  Stays very cold for the hour drive in.  Probably would still be cold for another hour or 2.

Check out the baby sections, that's where you will find this kind of thing the easiest.
buy a thermos, it will keep cold liquids cold for 24 hours.  You'll be amazed, and they are so worth the investment! :)

What my mom use to do was take a thermos, fill it with freezing cold water and let it stand for a bit to make the thermos cold (fill it with hot water if you want to keep stuff hot in it) then dump out the water and fill with whatever you wish to keep cold :)
