I have no idea what to fill my pita bread with. i put tuna and veggies in it with salsa today and i couldn't think of anything else to do with it. any suggestions?? sweet? savory? meal types?

i know you can make pita chips and dip it in hummus but what else? also, i don't eat meat...just fish and that's kinda rare. thanks :)

You can also make pita pizzas - just use the pita in place of pizza dough.  It's surprisingly good and depending on what you top it with, way fewer calories.

I love to put some brie cheese in it, fold it and microvave for 10 seconds to let the cheese melt. Mmmm so delicious!

UD

Hummus with slices of cucumber.... Cooked chicken with pesto mayonnaise..... Roast beef with sliced tomato and grainy mustard..... Lean grilled bacon with mayonnaise, baby leaf spinach and tomato.....  Scrambled egg mayonnaise with watercress......

Go the traditional Middle-Eastern way (where pitas originate from btw) and fill it with falafel!

+ tomato/ cucumber salad, hummus, tahini, grilled aubergines...

..and voila! yummy

Spread with peanut butter or almond butter and sugar free jam. Microwave for 20 seconds. Roll up a banana in it.

great ideas but i don't eat meat. maybe the spinach with tomato and scrambled eggs with a bit of cheese would be good? yeah?

bump*** ideas please please please..tried falafel in one today...pretty yummy :)

I really like making egg whites and just throwing in whatever veggies i have, and its always really delicious, and healthy. lots of protein too!

You could try putting a mixture of chickpeas, diced tomatoes, and slices of avocado, mmm.

Tofu with veggies, like sliced tomatoes and cooked onions, or something.

Fat free cream cheese (or normal since you need the cals!) with cucumbers!

mm..i'll write if i think of some more.

Fat free cream cheese (or full fat) with iceburg lettuce

Tofu tofu tofu. I love tofu, with roasted veggies

Hummus and veggies

Cheese and tomato (sliced, or a paste) warmed up

I LOVE pittas.

Yes, pitas make great pizzas. Just had one tonight, actually. Another favourite of mine is garlic hummus, mustard, alfafa sprouts and a frozen seafood mix(shrimp, calamari rings, baby clams, etc...)

I heart pitas. They are soooo awesome! And versatile! I love my pita pizzas but I see that's already been mentioned here.

I also love making pita chips and using them as a dipper for hummous, bean dips, roasted red pepper dip, guacamole, um I guess dips of all sorts ;).

I discovered that gauc can be made both lighter, less expensive, and completely delicious by mixing the avacado with yogurt in a 1:1 ratio. This can also be used as a spread for a pita sandwich, just add roasted chicken and lettuce and tomatoes and it's heaven on earth.

more ideas!!! meatless please!! :) thanks!

here's a recipe for a dessert idea using a pita...looks yummy

That reminds me of a yummy thing my sister likes to make using a pita...top a pita with peach slices (canned ok), feta cheese, and drizzle with a bit of oilve oil, broil until slightly browned. So good...though it's not a quite a dinner and not quite a dessert, not sure what it is!

i love fililng my pitas with clover sprouts, avocado, tomato, and cilantro. mmm. anything goes with a pita really. just stuff em with raw veggies and some sort of sauce like guac, honey mustard, hummus, and you are set. !

i seriously thought pitas would be more popular than this :(

They are very popular. You posted that you don't eat meat......so that limits the responses that you are going to get. Just saying.

I like mine with spinach, mushrooms, asiago cheese and zucchini...I usually fill the pita and then put it in a skillet to toast it a little on both sides.  This melts the cheese and heats up the veggies.  This also works with a large wheat tortilla.  Just put the veggies in and fold it over while in the skillet and heat well on both sides.

If I eat one cold, I like tomato, fat free ranch dressing, spinach and cheese.

okay, well i'll modify that to say that all ideas are welcome and then i will change the recipe/idea to fit my own preferences...how's that? now any ideas?

Fill with Black Beans, get a cheese stick of your choice warm it up in the microwave and top with some fresh salsa. :)
