Suggestions for a workout plan (in recovery)

I've been in weight recovery for about a week now, and as i was reading through these forums i noticed that alot of people in recovery are doing alot of exercise. Which i think is a great idea, but MY doctor has had me on strict bedrest... And now that i'm out of the hospital he still wants me to be mostly sedentary.

So my question is: Would you suggest that i do regular work-outs?
I'd like to, to build muscle. What is your advice? :)

Listen to your doctor. You can ask your doctor about lifting weights, but whatever they tell you to do, do it. Your health depends on it.
