I like some of the classics too,  I rea the complete works of mark Twain a few years ago (good ol' local boy for me) and I also read a bunch of Sir Arthur Conan Doyles Sherlock Holmes  Stories, that guy was a freakin genius, makes TVs MacGyver look like a gradeschool science experiment.
Thats too bad because comedy Dave Barry has a great imagination...
twain is a fave. and vonnegut. and steinbeck. love!
I was resding Orwell last year. 1984 is still really good.
Watergirl: Me too!  I am just reading P&P by Jane Austin, then next will be Sound and the Fury, or something equally "English Lit"
I have a book called The Well-Educated Mind.  It has a selective list of the Great Books.  Was on a 5-year schedule to read thru them.  I'm 3 years behind so far. :( [hope that doesn't count as pouting, wg]
faulkner. ugh!

i think you just earn procrastination points on that one SC.
Started Beowulf...have decided to read all the classics I can find free online...unfortunately I couldn't find Catcher in the Rye...will have to raid the kid's book shelf...

Meat- the inside of your head is probably very much like the inside of my husband's, part Hunter S. Thompson, part looney toons.
We have signs posted around town that say, "Don't even think about speeding." They always remind me of the thought police from 1984.
What makes me go "ugh" was Melville. I never read such drivel. I could have skipped half the book and still understood what was going on :p
