You can get it at GNC or a local health food store.  If you google "Super Colon Cleanse" you can read reviews on it.  The company (whose name I'm blanking on right now) also makes liver cleanse, heart health and a bunch of others.  The reason I did it was because my co-worker tried it and said she felt a lot better and then I researched online.  I only found 1 bad review and all it said was that it made *them* runny. (gross, but there's no other way to say it.)

It definitely worked for me, but since I was going on vacation I had to stop it after 3 days so I didn't get the full effect.  I'm doing it again now though so I'll let you know how it goes!

It won't give you the urge to poop uncontrollably or anything like that, you won't be running to the bathroom.  But you will be going to the bathroom a lot more than usual. It's regular, but large bowel movements, just a lot more of them.
Well, the limited reading I've done on it, it doesn't appear to be the cure all that most web sites advertise it to be.  If you give your body enough fiber and water, it will clean out the colon all by itself with no need for added supplements or chemicals.  (Save any existing medical condition...)

Just an observation from the various websites:  Be careful of anything that claims to cure such a wide variety of conditions like acne, heartburn, hemmorhoids, and headaches.  I've noticed that these conditions are never the result of poor skin care, a highly acidic diet or stomach ulcer, low fiber diet, or stress.  The only way the websites tell you to get rid of these things is to buy their products.

I think a person of nominally normal health could do it without adverse effects, but I haven't read any clinical opinions to convince me of a notable benefit.

Just curious - Why do you want to try it?
Im thinking of trying it. It'd be nice to cleanse myself. Eversince i started my diet 2 1/2 weeks ago i feel great! but i think waste stays stored for months right??
Santonacci-

I want to do it because I feel kinda gross and, well, weighed down, and just want to get everything out of me! Have you ever gotten really sick and had like crazy diahrrea, to the point where youre sure there is nothing left in you? Well I always felt sooo much better physically and mentally knowing that I was empty and with a fresh start. May sound weird, but oh well! :-)
Super Colon Cleanse has like 5 ingredients, all natural, all pronouncable.  Of course you need fiber every day, some more than others.  But it's suggested by many doctors to do this once or twice a year, that's all, to get any excess left.

It doesn't claim to "cure" anything.  Just helps you poop. That's all. Doctors prescribe colonics for middle aged people and suggest it for others.  This is the same thing, it just happens over a couple of days and you don't have to stick a tube up your butt.

As a biology student, I know that when the systems of your body are clean and healthy everything in turn works better.   If Your colon doesn't have waste from god knows how long ago then you digest more of the good nutrients and the bad ones can move more easily out of your system instead of sitting there. Thus, you have more energy, your immune system functions better, and you generally just feel healthier and happier.

P.S. the smaller bottle is all you need and it costs like $10. Again, just take the dose on the bottle for 5 days or so and then cut it down to 2/day if you want. You don't need to.
thank you amg76 :-)

THAT SETTLES IT!!! Im on my way to the GNC store!

So I guess you cant buy it at Walgreens or CVS? Cause that would be a lot more convinient for me, haha
I honestly don't know, I know for sure it's at GNC.  I went to my local health food store, Gary's World of Wellness. lol
I have been wondering about this too- I wonder if something like this could help with regularity? I have never been remotly regular- either i am only going about twice a month, or it is just...the opposite (don't want to get too graphic). I've been trying to add more fiber, but that only seems to be making it worse. Then on the radio this morning they were talking about this stuff Dr. Natura- not anthing I would actually do since it causes you to pass your intestinal mucus membranes (and that just cannot be good), but they were also talking about how doing a colon cleanse can help regulate?
Ewie.
As a former employee of GNC and a former user of SCC, I'll have to say that it works.  It did cause a great deal of cramps for me usually, but I took it only when constipated.

However, if you are planning long term use of SCC I would advise against it.  It contains SENNA, which is a stimulate laxative.  Over time the body gets accustomed to having stimulates to move the bowels.  After awhile, it will take more pills to make you "go."  Until eventually you're body it totally dependent on it.  That's not cool.

Laxative Dependence
They have just "Colon Cleanse" too which is a smaller dose, meant to keep you regular.  Taking the 2/day of SuperCC is the same as taking the recommended dose of regular CC, if that helps.

If adding more fiber seems to make it worse though, then I would ask your doctor and not try CC until then.

Haha, please don't ask how I know about this stuff...I couldn't tell you why.
EWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW
A colon cleanse will not help you regulate.  I've had problems since childhood.  I go months sometimes without "going."  I tried nearly everything.

Eat yougurt.  Eat raisin bran.  Cut back on cheese.

I did those three things, and while I still do not poop everyday.  I do way more often.  Some people just aren't poopers =)
LMAO, I don't know why but this thread it making me laugh so hard.

I didn't mean to gross any of you out. I just checked out the Dr natura website, and people posted pictures ( a lot of them) of the whole ... process.... oh my it is so gross!!

anyway, thanks for the advice!
nefertiti,

Well, you've already decided to do it, so more power to you.

It's still my position that the body is capable of cleaning itself out (without pills) if you give it enough fiber and water.   That's all I've been doing, and since I've been getting enough fiber, my digestive system has never been better.

I hope it works for you, and the gross feeling goes away!
7 cups water: 1 cup (100% pure, no sugar added) cranberry juice is the ultimate colon cleansing liquid. that and lemon water. it tastes nasty at first. but it really flushes you out, in a good way. and now im a cran water addict
be careful with taking supplements, esp. for things like regularity. your body can easily become dependant on them, which you really don't want for in the long run. i agree that you should try your hardest to clean yourself with diet alone. but if you really want to do something extra, i would look for a good colon cleanse recipe. there are many of them, and you follow a strict diet of certain foods and liquids geared to clear out the ole' colon. i've pasted one out below that i've been saving. a friend of mine did this one, she said it was truely amazing, and has heard great things from others, too. (and people lose a good amount of weight on it!) and try to get as many things organic as you can. so for those of you interested, here it is!

from "Taste For Life" magazine, Jan. 07.

1 week before cleanse, eat daily...
-cabbage family veggies -leafy greens -sulfur rich foods -citrus fruit juice -2 or more servings lean protein or 2 tbsp blue green algae or spirulina -1 to 2 tbsp flax oil or olive oil -liver healing plants (artichoke hearts and leaves, beets, asparagus, celery, nutritional yeast and whey) -2 servings colon caring foods (apples, carrots, berries, pears, ground or milled flax seeds, powdered psyllium husks) -8 oz unsweetened cranberry juice
-during this week, drink 1/2 your body weight in water (!)

Fasting Day...
-begin fast with psyllium husks or milled flax in water or juice (maybe 2 tbsp of either one?) -alternate every hour between filtered water and unsweetened cranberry juice diluted, can be seasoned with squeezed citrus and spices. altogether, have 8 glasses juice and 72 oz water. end fast with psyllium husks or milled flax seeds in water or juice.

After Fast...
over next 3 days... -drink plenty of liquids -lots of pro biotic foods (live and active yogurt, sauerkraut) -hydrolic acid formula, 1 or more tabs before each meal (not sure what this is...)

if anyone does it, let me know. i'm curious

Just the thought of "being un-clean" freaks out so many people...why on earth would one need to cleanse if abiding by natural food choices and lots of clean water?

Well, we all are guilty of eating too many processed foods and inhaling dirty air, and drinking far too many alcoholic and caffeine loaded beverages - BEFORE we began this new healthy way of thinking about food/body relationships.

So my thoughts on this are to  purge a bit by juice fasting and then begin a low carb plan of eating that minimizes sugars, processed foods, trans fats, bad-carbs(vs. good-carbs) and keeps lots of fiber and water moving in your system. By moving - I mean bowel moving.

No-once a month or once a week are not OK!! You would be full of sh*t if you did not void each and every day at least once-preferably 2-3 times.

Being full of it makes for bad breath, spotty complexion, toxic overload to the body and well, who wants to have a 10-12 foot long colon packed with it anyway! It probably weighs a few pounds, too, so with regualrity of elimination that weight is gone.

Colons don't need cleansing.  They are supposed to work the way they do.  Read This  And This

Toxins are not removed throught the colon.  Your liver does that.  No amount of fasting or flushing out is going to change that.  It's just the way the body works.
