SUPER long period

Quote  |  Reply

OKay so this has happend to me once before a few years ago. I didnt take my birth control at the same time everyday and now my period is all messed up. I have had it for like 2 weeks I had it in the middle of having the pills and now when im actually supposed to have it. Now its really heavy but before it wasnt at all. Next month I will do a much better job of taking the pills on time. My question is whether I Should be worried or not or if this can have any negative side effects

This is by no means medical advice since I do not have a medical degree....but personally I would log this in a file to speak w/ your gyn at your next appt.  See how things go for the next month and then if it happens again...give him a call.  My best guess not knowing any of the other factors in your life, is that hopefully this is a once occurance and wont happen next month.

Similar thing happened to my when my dr switched my bc pill.  After my third panicked phone call someone finally called me back and said "it can happen and not to worry about the flow being heavy unless I need to change my pad once an hour or more."  It didn't make me feel better, so I made an appointment a little earlier then I need and my dr rattled off a whole list of things that could cause longer period and or heavy flow while on bc.

I am not a dr and my situation was totally different. If your concerned I would double check with your gyn in the morning or if you insurance has one of those nurse hot line numbers give them a call.

It might not have anything to do with your pills. I'd call your OB/GYN just in case. Fibroid tumors also can cause heavy bleeding for prolonged periods of time. Better safe then sorry, no?

After i started losing weight and I was about 2 weeks from the placebo pills (I take seasonique) I started getting a light period.  It was heavier than spotting, but lighter than my normal period.  It freaked me the hell out because it didn't come with cramps like my period usually does and was while i was on the blue pills.  So I had that for about a week, week and a half...a few days of nothing, then the placebo pills came and my "for real BC induced period started".  It was normal for me.  Normal = cramps, heavy flow at the beginning, lasts about a week.

I am going to bring this up with my gyn...I have an appt with him today.

Don't know what's up with you, but I'd call your gyn and ask.
