Super low calorie snacks??
Anyone have any very very low calorie (like under 30) snack suggestions? I have been using pickles, and celery, both are only like 5 calories or something.....
but i'm a little bored, and was hoping someone else has some little secrets. Lately i've been "munchy", wanting to graze a a little all day long and i need something in between meals or in the evening that won't greatly affect my calorie total.
thanks in advance!!
what i usually do when i want a low calorie snack is buy some puffed cereal. You can buy them at any health-food store and most large grocery stores. the ones i always buy are by Arrowhead Mills, and i love their puffed wheat, kamut, and corn. they're crunchy and carby (i love carbs), and 50 calories for a cup. a little over your limit, but a half cup is within the the limit. the other awesome thing is a bag is really quite cheap. it also feels more like a Friday night snack kind of food than celery (or any veggies...)
The only puffed grain cereal i don't recommend if millet...it's too chewy unless you add milk, and then that totally throws your calorie limit.
good luck :)
one cup of radishes, sliced or chopped, is 19 calories
one cup of cherry tomatoes, halved, is 27 calories
celery is pretty much an eat-all-you-want kind of snack food
one cup of mushrooms is 15 calories
one packet of Swiss Miss Sugar Free Hot Chocolate is 25 calories
one cup of chicken bouillon is about 5 calories
one cup of chopped broccoli is 30 calories
one package, Chicken Noodle Cup a Soup ... 45 calories
one cup, strawberry halves .... 49 calories
one peeled cucumber ... 24 calories
7 almonds ... 49 calories
1 tablespoon Better'n Peanut Butter ... 50 calories
15 grapes = 30 calories
one slice, Kraft fat free singles ... 30 calories
one slice, Oscar Mayer fat free bologna ... 22 calories
=^..^= MOLLY
also my other fav low cal snack at the moment is blueberries... half a cup is about 40, i like to freeze them, take them out for like 5 minutes so they thaw just a little then eat them =)
I'm with Willin... frozen blueberries are the best...
They fill you up too. suprising. but they're also one of the best fruits to consume as autumn sets in and winter (and the flu season) approaches because they are extremely high in antioxidants. 1 2 amazing punch
Jell-o sugar free strawberry. It's only 5 calories.
Grapes aren't low cal. They're pretty high in calories. A cup is 110 calories
Thoufg honey dew melons and watermelons are low calorie fruits.
About the jell-o jello, don't eat too much of it. It has 60mg of sodium in it.
A few strawberries cut up with a tablespoon of cool whip is like 25 calories & tastes terrific.
A plum is 30 calories.
Celery and/or carrot sticks&nb sp;with salsa can easily be under 30 calories
A small salad (a few  ;leaves of lettuce, 2 tom ato slices, some cucumber  ;slices with either lemon  ;juice or vinegar) is lik e 20 calories
Egg whites (as people have noted) ar e guilt-free
I wish they could make&nb sp;super-low calorie Yoplait W hips! yogurts. I love the m, but 140 - 160 cal ories seems high for a quick snack. They should work on making them under 100.
they have yoplait fat free yogurts for 100 calories
and another yogurt for 90 calories
mustard has calories, just very low. I use to think that plain decaf tea had no calories and to my surprise, it has 2 calories. If anything is under 5 calories, the companies have the right to say it's calorie free.
Anyways, there is Silhouette fat free sugar free yogurt. It's 40 calories. Above the 30 calorie mark, but that's pretty low for yogurt. Also, it tastes awesome and they added more fruits into the yogurt as well some newer flavors. Yum, strawberry banana yogurt.
OMG I am heading to the grocery store TODAY, to get every single one of these things.... what great ideas!
Thanks everyone!
In addition to all the other great things above:
granola is something to snack on awhile (Careful, calories can add up)
also, pomogrante fruit...it has great health benefits and what I do is eat the seed but leave the "pit" behind to dry out a bit and then eat that later...a whole pomogrante is about 100 calories so half is about 50 and it takes me all day (no joke) to eat half of one almost continusly munching on it (careful, it does stain though!)
also, cut up something like carrots into small pieces and then you will have a cup that looks huge (baby carrots, about 10 = 30-40 calories)
-this also works for anything else...cut it into small pieces and you can eat it longer and just keep popping it in your mouth but since you premeasured it you know the calories (a celery stick cut up in half and then chop that will last forever)
hope everyone's enjoying their super low cal snacks!
strawberries are low in calories, sugar free jello 10 calories, small salad with light kraft zesty italian dressing 15 calories for every 2 tablespoons, crystal light popsicles are 15 calories each just have low calorie snack throughout the day, like every hour and you should be good
