Super low calorie snacks??

Quote  |  Reply

Anyone have any very very low calorie (like under 30) snack suggestions? I have been using pickles, and celery, both are only like 5 calories or something.....

but i'm a little bored, and was hoping someone else has some little secrets. Lately i've been "munchy", wanting to graze a a little all day long and i need something in between meals or in the evening that won't greatly affect my calorie total.

thanks in advance!!

some that i am going to second are:

carrots and mustard ( i use spicy mustard for a kick)

light life products. i love smart dogs. they are 35 calories a dog (i think either that or 45) and fat free. they are a great source of protein as well. i dip them in spicy mustard as well.

pickled veggies. especially pickled green beans and asparagus. yum!!! and VERY low calorie.

air popped popcorn. i spray bragg's liquid aminos on mine. it gives it a bit of a salty taste w/o adding much sodium and with adding essential amino acids.

and some to add:

soup. there is a fat free chunky vegetable made by amy's i believe that is 60 calories a cup. maybe a 1/2 cup. personally i'll eat the entire can because it's very filling for 120 calories.

baked apple slices w/ cinnamon (1/2 apple is about 30 calories)

fresh green pepper slices dipped in salsa

coffee w/ soy milk. i like coffee a lot and it helps when i want to reach for a cookie or whatever. plus it speeds up your metabolism. obviously you could use skim milk as well.

seasoned seaweed. the kind i get has 15 calories a serving. it's high in vitamin a and c as well as being very high in minerals.

steamed asparagus

boiled spinach

grapes

mushrooms. especially baked portobellas. i marinate mine in a lemon juice, bragg's/soy sauce mixture with some ginger, black pepper and garlic than bake it in the oven for a bit. eating two big ones would probably be 30-40 calories.

cucumber slices w/ sea salt or bragg's

tomato with salt or bragg's

there are more you just have to be creative. and most raw vegetables are usually under or around that amount.

If I am seriously out of calories for the day or are 'saving' them for a meal later on but I'm seriously hungry, I'll just eat something like a tomato. It may not be glamorous and isn't the most interesting thing to eat but it tides me over to my next meal :)

Usually the last thing I eat in a day because it's only 25 calories is green olives. I love I can suck on them and make them last a half hour. I know that sounded kind of bad but they're good!!!

Like most said SF jello, a slice of Light Wheat toast w/ a table spoon of SF jelly (45 calories total)

Hard boiled egg whites, at work if I am bored and just want to eat for something to do I make Chicken or veggie broth (like 10 calories)

Also SF Popcicles are only about 20 calories

2 ounces of raspberries or 1/3 of a pomegranate

Fat free cottage cheese!!!

1/2 cup is only 40 calories :) You can have it with fruits, veggies, egg white omelets, or just on it's own and it's super packed with protein

1) plain eggwhite omelet --> 30 cals

2) dessert flavoured yoplait source yogurt cups --> 35 cals per 100 grams

3) rice cakes (for large ones anywhere from 30-70 cals each depending on flavour)

4) any green vegetable chopped, the prepackagd salads are about 15 calories for 2.5 cups of it so 5 cups of salad is pretty substantial

5) blend ice, stevia, decaf coffee and 1 tsp cocoa powder and its rreallyy good

6) 5 cal jello cups

7) sugar free gum

8) cucumber slices and sliced tomatoes with mustard and basil (basil is 2 cals per tsp and mustard has 0 cals)

9) frozen grapes (2 cals each, it takes a minute or two to just eat one grape

10) deli slices of soy protein fake meats or actual meat vary from 20-40 cals per slice

11) unsweetened almond breeze, a whole cup for 30-40 cals, warm it up and it'll hold you over for awhile

im trying to gain weight so i dont do these much anymore, but they defs work to hold you over

Sugar free jelly is good, and you can put some fresh fruit in it or a little fat-free whippy on top.

Soooooo glad to see I'm not the only one who snacks in mushrooms! Laughing

MOTT'S HEAlTHY HARVEST APPLE SAUCE. PEACH MEDLEY IS MY FAVORITE... ON 50 CALORIES A CUP...OH AND ITS ALSO SUGAR FREE

One of my fav snacks is cucumbers and ranch dressing(kraft low fat ranch is the best!)  also cooked apples with some splenda and cinnamin are so good, and the splenda helps it to be good and low cal.

There's a great low calorie snacks list on Yummy Diet Food. In terms of really low calorie snacks, I suggest pickels, half an apple, laughing cow cheese, carrot sticks, dried fruit (like sensible snacks), or a cup of almond milk.
