No superbowl thread? commercials? halftime?

Quote  |  Reply
I can't believe there isn't a superbowl thread!  I didn't get to see it, we do not have tv right now and with a baby it wasn't worth dragging him out somewhere.

I'm not big into football but will watch it, especially the superbowl.  But I love the commercials and halftime because the marketing involved is so intense trying to be the best!

Plus the COLTS won...not that I care, but heck, I live in Indiana and where I live is both colts and bears territory so it was a big deal here with who was gonna win.

Anybody watch,...what was the best commercial? or worst?

I watched the whole game and all the commercials (I think). My favorite was the careerbuilder one, the one where they were trying to trap people to go to the training session :D
What ticks me off about living in Canada is that we don't get the funny commercials you guys get.  While we see the game, the broadcasters decide to show their own commercials.

Sure, they have to pay their bills and all, but man, the commercials are half the fun
You can see the Superbowl ads either here or here
I thought the commercials were kind of boring compared to other years.  That is my favorite part of the superbowl, so I was disappointed.  Good game though.
Thanks hk, I'm gonna check them out on my lunch!  Then I can comment :)

And bigtwinky...that stinks you can't see the commericals.
Hey BigTwinky, in Canada you can watch the American broadcast of the Super Bowl with American commercials. Check with your satellite provider next time. I think you to buy the channel for the day or something, like pay per view. I'm really not sure how it works legitimately, as the person that I know watched the American version here in Canada has a high-seas version of Beverly.
I actually need to complain about that. The first half, the game was good enough that I sat there going "I neeeed to go to the bathroom, but I Don't wanna abandon the game and I wanna see the commercial" *whine*

And, yes, I held it until half-time.

I'm silly ;D
That would be *if* I had satellite hehe.

I'm sure there would be something we can do.  My dad used to have a somewhat non-legal card and we used to watch it at his place.  But then my brother got his big screen TV, so now we move over there and watch it.

Thanks for the tip though.  I'm curious to see how much they charge for the 1 day hehe

And thanks for the links hk!

I'm headed home in a bit and will check them out
Superbowl was very...blah.  Not a great game at all.  Kind of exciting cause of the turnovers, but then again...there's nothing fun or exciting about sloppy play.

That Devin Hester return was amazing though.  Which makes me think...Ted Ginn Jr. opening kickoff return for a TD and the Buckeyes lose...Devin Hester opening kickoff return for a TD and the Bears lose.  I'm not sayin there's a correlation here, but...yeah, I'm sayin that.

Commercials were good.  My favorite would be the snickers one with the two guys kissing (ala Lady and the Tramp).  That was hilarious.  Made me want to rip out a lump of chest hair too.

Maybe next year I can watch the game in HD...
I thought it was a great game, which makes it different from most super bowl games, if you ask me...

And I was surprised there weren't more turnovers....  that rain was a solid downpour the whole time...   which really should have helped the Bears because you'd think that the team with the fancy passing game would have more trouble given the rain.

But no,

  • the Colts could pass
  • the Colts could run
  • the Colts had some trouble kicking field goals & extra points
  • the Colts could stop the Bears on most of their 3rd downs
  • the Colts ROCKED! even in the sloppy downpour of a FL driving rain
  • YAY Colts! Yay cutie Peyton Manning!!!
I thought the turnovers just made it more exciting. I doubt it would have been like that if they'd played in a dome...

I thought the half time show was also good, great if you consider that it was also in the pouring rain. I felt glad that nobody got electrocuted...

Some of the commercials were funny.. I also like the career-builder commercials the best. I wanna wear a notebook binder on my head like that one guy....  :)
What, I missed the SuperBowl?
I only lasted until just before half-time.  So out of the commercials I did see . . . I liked the Blockbuster one with the rabbit "clicking" the mouse.   I thought the one for the GPS mapping really sucked!  The others were just okay.  Maybe 'cause I'm not a guy I didn't think the Snickers one was so hot.
I feel sorry for the fans who travelled all the way from Indy or Chicago, then spent over $5,000 for one ticket just to sit in the rain...not good times, especially if you were a Bears fan.

As exciting as the 1st quarter was, the rest of the game was kind of a letdown. Not very exciting at the end...oh well. Congrats to Indy, they deserve it. Go Dolphins...next year!
Watched quite a few of the commercials that looked interesting...I'm a sucker for animals so I did like the Bud w/Dalmation dog, plus the Taco Bell Lions.  The careerbuilder one with them using office equipment as armor was good too.  And Bud Light Rock, Paper, scissors!
I am glad the Colts won - I am happy for Manning.

I also really liked the "mouse" commercial and the lions and the rock, paper scissors.

Did anyone else crouch over the veggies tray, stick to non alcoholic drinks and still see a weight spike? Grrr. I ate only vegetables and low fat crackers (I know, because I brought them myself), plus--ok, I'm being totally honest--a handful of salted nuts and popcorn. Scale said I gained 1.5 pounds. The game just wasn't that good, especially the second half.

It was exciting to watch Prince in the rain wondering when he'd get electrocuted, and the band uniforms with glow lights were cool.

I liked the rock, paper scissors, too, and the Mind of Mencia English lesson. The rest were only ok for Super Bowl.
