Supplements in addition to healthy diet and calorie counting
Does anyone use supplement or packaged food such as medifast products in addition to thier healthy diets or calorie controlled diets? I ordered Medifast and like some of the products and the convience of them, but feel very restricted only eating one "real" meal a day. Just wondering if anyone incorporates both together and how it is going for them?
Thanks
I take two supplements, which are approved by my primary care physician, my nutritionist, and my cancer doctor. Those are a multiple vitamin for women, and fish oil supplements. Otherwise, all the nutrition I need I can get from eating a balanced diet.
EDIT: There are occasions when I need a protein supplement. Especially if I've had a hard workout at the gym and haven't eaten enough protein. On those occasions, I'll fix a shake with Whey Protein and fresh fruit (usually a banana).
i take a multi, iron (because i'm chronically anemic due to extremely heavy periods), and in winter, D.
no meal substitutes or gimmicky "metabolism boosters."
I take 400 mg Chromium Picolinate every day. My pharmacist recommended it for me, and my doctor agreed. It's been working great for me! I lose more weight on days when I remember to take my Chromium than on the days when I forget :)
I take Vegegreens by Progressive in the AM, and NutraSea Omega 3 liquid as well. I also take a broad spectrum multi vitamin just to be safe. I can tell if they are "working" as I have improved my diet significantly in other ways, but they are a part of my regimen. I sometimes will have half a Protein 32 bar as a snack.
What exactly does Chromium do?
I take a multi vitamin, a b-complex, iron (I am anemic) and glocosamine (sp).
I think I get most of my nutreints from my food but there are some days I dont. I find that when I don't take my vitamins (espicially the iron) for more than a few days I am in a fog, not a much energy, physically or mentally.
No metabolism boosters or fat burners. I some times eat pre-packaged meals, such as Lean Cuisine or Weight Watchers. I usually have these at work for a quick lunch with a salad or additional raw veggies.
