Ok,

I see most of every one here are girls not guys, so I think I will stick out this time.
About two years ago I was 5'11'' and 280lb

I am in pharmacy school and every time I stepped into the classroom they were talking about a new disease with the first population on the highest risk patient list is obese and overweight people.

So I got sick of it and I decided to lose it all

It took me about 6 months and I went down to 231 and I was hanging around there for about a year and a half, till the last 2 month I went up again to 249 and I was like NO.

Now my new goal is 210lb by April 27th. My graduation date :)

But when my name will be called, I will not be the fat BLOB walking down the stage. And that’s a promise to myself and who ever wants to join the bandwagon

Who ever is in, put me to your friend list and we shall be in contact through this thread for weights and advances.

I am looking forward to hear from you guys :)

Good luck to all

:)

hey all,

my mental health requires that i only face the scale once a week - which i guess will be Friday for me.  so i don't have a new weight to report.  my goal this week is to be more active.  i have the same problems as karrene - not enough time.  i intended to break out the treadmill last night but instead went to bed @ 7:00 w/ a migraine (lots of fun).  i fully intend to make up for it tonight.  i also have another goal....i'm...gulp....a coke drinker.  not that fake diet stuff but real, unadulterated, pure, throat burning coke.  i LOVE it.  but - i'm going to give it up (or at least limit the use to 12oz/day for the time being).  i know it isn't healthy and i don't really like the diet substitute, so the time has come...eek!!

Tomorrow will be a new day for me, I have decided to check into curves.  I have my initial/assessment appointment tomorrow night.  This means that I will have to be out the door at 6 am as my first child arrives at 7:15. I'll let you all know how it goes

Hotpotato - I want to congradulate you on your willingness to give up coke.    Have you tried substituting coke for a different beverage like the flavoured waters?

Karrene - Congrates about joining Curves.  Hopefully you will find it a lot of fun and maybe you will meet interesting people with the same goals as you do.  Let us know how it goes and remember to set your alarm.  Good Luck Smile

Did my weigh in this morning.  218 lbs.  I am now signed up with curves.  I start my first work out with them on Monday.  I am very excited about this.  For time being I am going to go after my daycare children leave at the end of the day.  Once softball starts for my 2 girls I will probably start going in the morning (early).  So now I have 18 lbs to go before my birthday in April (short time goal).  I will keep praying that I can do this and that I can stick with it.

Hey Karrene, that's great about your current weight and signing up with Curves.  I have a Curves just by my house but I am always so intimidated to go in because I notice everyone are friends and I don't know anybody.  By the way what a really cool gift to give yourself for your Birthday, being 18 lbs lighter.  We are all cheering you on!!!

I also weighed myself this morning, I lost 1 lb this week.

Hello ladies, Im not weighing myself today. Im in a slump and I just cant face the scales. Those of you that have me on your friends list can see the details in my journal.Nothing juicy...LOL. Anyway, Ill weigh on Monday and I hope none of you mind. I just dont want to think about weight, diet or exercise anymore today. have a GREAT weekend all, and Good Luck!!

Tina

Ok I am on the list but you may not want me to be!  I didn't completely read the title I guess.  I am over 200 but also over 250.  So if its ok I will weigh in and all.  I already have two of you as friends and think your great.  But I now know the group was for people 200-250 so its up to you.  I am a 32 yr old mother of 3.  I live in PA and am 5feet 10 inches or so and started out last wed. at 289.  I weighed in today and have lost 5.2 lbs.  I can't beleive it and can't wait to loose more.
I hope everyone is  doing great today!

Tina I left you a message on your journal.  Hang in there and tom. will be better!

Angie

What a busy weekend.  We are finally finishing our bathroom downstairs, My husband hates painting so I did all the painting this weekend.  I start my first workout at curves tonight.  I also don't know anyone there, but I figure that may change, if not that is okay because the way I see it is I am there to work out not to socialize.  I am still hoping for the 18 lbs.  I have one and a half months till my birthday.  If it takes longer I am okay with that as long I keep feeling the difference and seeing the difference, that's what matters.
wow, what a workout.  went to curves last night.  it didn't feel like it was 30 minutes long.  I felt pretty good when I left but I tell you by the end of the night and when I woke up this morning was I sore.
Karrene - It's great to hear you had a great time at Curves, that really makes or breaks it if you will go again.  How many times a week do you go?  Also remember no pain no gain (on second thought we are not trying to gain we are trying to lose)
Sorry I haven't been on all week, with finishing our basement bathroom the 9 month old that started my daycare, and going to curves I haven't had a lot of time.  I weighed in on Friday and I am down to 216.8 lbs.  This was my first week at curves and I went 4 times this week.  I am going to gradually add a day each week till I reach 6 days a week.  They are closed here on Sundays.  But that's okay, that will be my rest day.  Not only that I do a major house cleaning every weekend so I will still get my workout on Sunday from cleaning the house.  I hope everyone is doing else doing good and I will probably post again next weekend.

THings are going ok here.  I weighed in on Friday also and lost another 1.2 lbs.  Wanted to loose more but will take it since I had a bad eating week.  On track again and ready to loose more this week.  Hope everyone is doing well.

Angie

Hi.  I'm Ben.  I haven't posted on this forum yet, but I am one of Mena's band of merry pranksters.  I just wanted to say hi.  I'm a 42yo male, around 5'7".  The spreadsheet has me listed at starting around 230, but I started in mid-September at 260+, so I have already lost over 30 pounds through this site.  It has actually been easier than I had expected.  It has been certainly been a change in lifestyle for me. I am eating less, drinking less, eating better, and exercising more.  I have gotten in the habit of cycling to work most days, rather than driving (about a 30 minute ride each way, a pleasant ride except when it's raining).  I might be further along, but I took a two week vacation in December, plus the Christmas holidays with the family, and didn't do any counting then.  I gained 7 or 8 pounds back, but have lost it and then some since.

I absolutely loathe shopping for clothes, I would rather do anything else.  But I need to get some new jeans; unless I have a tight belt on, my current jeans will fall down.  That really makes me feel like I've made some tangible progress.

I don't have any particular words of wisdom.  Mena has posted some great info.  If me of little willpower can do it, I would like to think anybody can.  I guess my main piece of wisdom is to be patient.  It takes time to lose weight safely.  Don't knock yourself out if you have a day where you know you exceed your limits (I will occasionally go out for dinner and eat whatever the heck I want).  You will lose it eventually, there is no point denying yourself all fun in life.

Peace,

Ben

Hello everyone, I hope everyone had a good weekend. I didn't. My girls and I were in a car accident on Saturday. A young girl ran a yield sign and smacked the passenger side of my van. My 15 year old got the brunt of the hit and she has injuries but nothing life threatening. On a good note, I lost another 2 lbs this week and If my measurements are correct, I have lost 3 3/4 inches off my waist and tummy, 3/ 4" off the chest area. and 2 1/4 " off my hips. It was nice to put on my Jeans and not have to suck my tummy in to do them up.

Karren

Hi karren,

i am sorry to hear about the car accident and i hope your girls and yourself are safe and i hope your muscles are unwinding nicely.

Great job on the progress , I think you are the fastest progressing member so far. but watch out i am gonna be right behind you and you will see :)

Any way i will try to get your weight updated tonight God's willing.

Good luck to all,

Mena

Went to the doctors today and my 6 year old is okay, my 15 year old has to go to physio for her arm and I have a sore neck, but I won't let that stop me.  I am still going to go to curves, I will just have to skip the machine that works the shoulders.  My 6 year old is all worried that if we go anywhere we are going to get into another accident, I told her not to worry about it and that God was watching over us because no one was seriously hurt.  As for being the fastest progressing member, wasn't planning on that happening, but I am very determined to lose the chub.  It was so nice to put my Jeans on and discovering they were loose.  I haven't been comfortable in jeans since I had my first child (now 15) by c-section.  I was never able to wear them very long.  Now I can wear my Jeans all day and its such a good feeling.  My husband also told me that he is starting to notice a difference.  Good luck to everyone,

karren I am so sorry about your accident but yes god must have been watching.  Things as I know could have been a lot worse.

I weighed in on friday and lost nothing.  I was going to kick myself but I know why I didn't.  Alot of stress for one with starting to watch my 4 neices and nephews on monday.  I had them more last week than they were at home.  I will not have them that much again.  I love them but my own kids are stressed out from all the family togetherness. LOL I am watching my intake now and just need to kick the pepsi habit I picked up last week.  I never had a soda problem in the past but drank one mid week to keep me going that day and can't seem to stop.  I never imagined it could be so bad.

Well hope everyone is doing great.  My house has cleared out and I need to go get on the tread mill soon.

Angie

what a rough weekend.  Went to the in-laws for Easter.  I gained 3 lbs back.  I am going to work extra hard this week.  I also did my weight in this morning because I wasn't able to do it on Friday.  It was cool because I haven't been out to the in-laws for about a month (things going on with the girls) and everyone out there noticed that I have lost weight.  So far I have lost 4 1/2 inches off my waist.  I got good comments all weekend.  It made me feel so good that gaining the extra  weight back on the weekend seems minor.  The worst part about the weekend was we ate ham most of the time.  Lunch and supper.  Talk about salt.  I tried to have as little as possible, but my mother-in-law is the type of person that no one can leave the table until they are stuffed like a turkey (lol).  I hope every one had a good Easter.  God bless everyone and keep up the work.
