Are you supposed to count water?

Quote  |  Reply

I am new to calorie counting and was wondering if I should count my water intake in my log?  I drink Dasani water which, according to the bottle, has no calories, sodium, carbs, fat, etc.  Should I still add it to my log?

Thanks!

Julie

Why bother?  Unless you have some need for tracking how much water you take in a day, it certainly won't affect your calorie count at all.

Also -- why buy Dasani?  Get a Brita water filter pitcher and a Nalgene bottle!

Thanks!  No point in adding it if it doesnt make a difference.  Weight Watchers wants you to drink a certain amount of water per day, and you are supposed to track it.  This is why i was unsure.

And my work supplies Dasani water bottles.  At home I have a filter.  :)

Thanks again for your advice!

Nah, you don't need to count it calorie-wise, just intake-wise if you want to make sure you're getting the recommended amount.

Also, Dasani has salts added to it, so I second the idea of using filtered water. Bring a bottle from home =]

Only if you want to keep track of how much you're having to make sure you're getting enough. If you're pretty sure you're having plenty of water there's no need... it wouldn't hurt to chart your water for a week just to make sure though - I stuck a pin into the board every time I finished a glass of water and counted them up at the end of the day... but after a few weeks I decided there wasn't any point in continuing because I drink a ton of the stuff!
