Supposed fat loss supplements

Does anyone  have any personal experience with the myriad of these?  I do know one has to exercise and eat properly.  Is there anything that can speed things up, though?  Just wondering if anyone used one of these with some help.

I tried some, a while back, and I was losing weight, but I was also working out and jogging and, of course, watching what I ate. The problem I found with them is that I had trouble sleeping and, with one brand, it made my heart feel as if it was beating too fast. I would recommend that you just be patient. The old, tried-and-true method works. Just give it some time.

When one speeds something up, there is usually the rebound effect of slowing things down. What happens to your system when you stop taking the magic pills?

I find that the addition of a good women's multi-vitamin aids in my overall return to good health.

I forgot about the rebound syndrome.

I do workout 5x week, about 2 hours each time  And I am eating healthy.  And I am not seeing a weight loss.  I'm able to fit into my 'skinny jeans, even with the added weight, so I know my workouts are working.  I just can't understand the scales.   I know I shouldn't care.  I feel good.  It's a numbers thing with me.

I've tried several different fat loss supplements, and my conclusion is basically that they all are more useful for the occasional energy boost instead of fat loss.

There are some exceptions, such as CLA and Sessamin.   But these aren't fat loss like all of the latest supplements purport.  They affect body chemistry so your body doesn't store as much fat.  You won't see dramatic results in the short term, but in the long term you'll notice a difference in body fat %.

Ok, so here is my blunt assessment: if they did work, I wouldn't have been 183 pounds on a 5'5" body Frown and there wouldn't be so many people running around that have the same problem.  The fact is that it is a huge industry with little to nothing to back up the claims.  Think about it this way, at 50, I was 183 Oct 1, 2007 and now am 157 on my way down to 135.  I have never used pills; just the old fashioned way.  I bought a scale so I know what I am eating, I exercise (first time in my life) and I am dropping steadily (haven't hit that dreaded plateau just yet!).  The only people who need pills are very low fat folks in my opinion...to get rid of that extra pound or two that they need.  For me, if 95% of my problem is lack of exercise and too much food, I can fix that without a pill...there is no magic in the formula that a pill can fix, it is simply, Burn more than you consume and you will lose weight.  I am not dieting, I am watching what goes in and what I burn...simple - I do not expect that even if I took any pills, it would help...I did that years ago and thought they worked some, but now I realize it was my food and exercise choices that really moved the needle, not a pill.  Eat right and do some exercising and you don't need to find something that claims to help the body not store fat, or whatever.

No expert, just my opinion for what it's worth.  I bet you can meet your goals without any expense of fat loss pills.  And sweat is much cheaper (not easier).  Go for the long haul, keep at it and you will succeed!

most of them are stimulants.  they make big claims, but always with the disclaimer, "along with diet and exercise."  if it works, it's because of the supplement; if it doesn't work, it's your fault.

spend your money on quality food or a gym membership instead.

Right, if you're looking for a wonder drug, or even one that lives up to it's own hype, you may as well throw your money away.  Even steroids aren't as effective as the media portrays them.

They are supplements, not replacements.  If you diet properly and exercise properly you'll see results.  If you do so with the right supplements, you'll see better results.  But you won't see amazing results, and without diet and exercise you probably won't see any results.

Since the op is looking for a recommendation, I will mention that I've been taking sessamin for almost a month now on the recommendation from a friend who swears by iti, and I've been eating rather poorly (not terribly, but I wasn't maintaining a deficit, and probably went well over maintenance many many times during the holidays), and I've gained weight of course, but my muscle definition/tone has actually improved more than if I had been dieting.  And I didn't change my workout.  I'm going to give it another month eating properly and see how it goes.

I've tried one before, but I realized that it was actually just an over-priced caffiene pill that made me feel ill.  I would say if you're working out so much, you may actually be burning too many calories if you're not seeing any weight loss.   Or on the other hand, you could just be gaining muscle, which actually weighs more than fat, so you're not noticing the difference on the scale, but you can fit in your jeans
Best solution I found:

-eating enough healthy fats
-taking a multivitamin that includes a B-complex

B's are suppose to aid with that. Either way its good for you.
