Not sure what I am doing wrong....Any help?
Since January 5 I have changed my diet drastically. I am now eating alot healthier than before (ie fruits, veggies) and limit my diet to 1,400-1,800 calories. I have also started a regular exercise routine. In the morning and afternoon, I walk a good amount around in DC to and from work. At night, I use the elliptical for 30 minutes at a moderate pace, as well as resistance. Crunches are also in my work out plan. I know it has not been that long but I feel like I am not losing any weight! The scale is still at 150 and hasnt moved, not even a little (and Im trying to lose about 20-30 lbs). I guess I feel that I have made all these changes and nothing is paying off. :-(
Are you drinking enough water? How tall are you, how old are you, what is your current weight, your goal weight, your gender?
I try to drink at least three or four full glasses of water a day. I am a Caucasian female, about 5'4" and 21 years old. Current weight is 150, and goal weight would be about 120 (if possible).
What you're eating is enough for someone who is sedentary, but what you describe is closer to active. Try putting yourself down as sedentary and logging all the activities and see what your burn rate is. The ideal deficit is 500-1000 calories per day while keeping above the 1200 minimum (1200F/1500M +300teen +%exercise).
On water, about 6-8 8 oz glasses per day (you can include everything except caffeinated beverages in the total) is about right.
Okay thanks for the info. Hopefully this will start the decrease!! *crossing fingers*
Double check your portions and make sure you are putting everything in your food log, especially things you drink (juice, soda)! Add more water. Read The New Rules of Lifting for Women by Lou Schuller. You can check out the group under fitness for other readers comments about the book (TNROLFW) or something like that!
get a tape measure! pounds aren't the only way to measure progress!
don't give up, stick with it!
hey honey, its only been like 9 days right? dont give up just yet, cross your 2oth day and i am sure you will see a lot of difference, throw the scale away for now, just concentrate on your deit and excercise.. checking your weight on the scale every few days will drive you crazy and dicourage you, trust me you will be surprised by the result just keep going girl!!!! Good luck
I felt the exact same way this morning. :-) I am also looking to lose 20-25 pounds, but since Jan 5 I have gone from 170 to 168 and I've been there for a week. In my head I KNOW, and on all the CC message boards it is confirmed, that this is not a fast process and it shouldn't be, since we are trying to do this as a lifestyle change and not for a quick fix. That being said, I thought it would come down a bit faster than it has for me too. Because it is slow I keep wondering, as you are, if I am doing something wrong, or overlooking mistakes.
We'll just have to keep going strong and after the 20th day, like riffatrashdi said, we should see some good results. If we don't then maybe we need to adjust something. Don't be discouraged by the numbers not moving - have you noticed any small changes, like maybe a ring isn't as tight on your finger or you feel less bloated? Keep those little things in mind, and soon we both should be on our way to healthy, permenant weight loss.
maybe you should try smoking pot cause it boosts matabolism!!!
How does that work as I've only known it to increase appetite and resistance to ANYTHING! But, hey does it really?![]()
