Really not sure what to think

Quote  |  Reply

I feel like I am pregnant and kind of think I should take a test soon.  But......

Here is the deal, I am about 2 days "late" (which I NEVER am), I am tired, always hungry when I am not nauteous, I am peeing constantly, have excess vaginal discharge, and frequent headaches, plus bloating.  Also, I have a couple of things like acne and gas that I have had with previous pregnancies.  In short, I feel like I am pregnant.  In fact, I would be pretty much sure of it, except that I had my tubes tied almost 3 years ago (or at least I paid for it, it was during my c-section with my twins, so I guess they were already there and I don't know for sure the extra procedure was done).

So do I take a test and relieve my mind even though I really should not be pregnant?   I am torn because I would love to just test and be sure but it seems so dumb since there really should be no way!  Help!!

Well, I'd take a test...why not? They are pretty cheap. Might feel silly, but you never can know, right?

How old are you? I forgot to look before I started to reply....could it be menopause or pre-menopause....even early onset menopause?

Or maybe you have something else going on. If you aren't old even for menopause, and not prego, maybe need to see a doc?

I am 31, so I think menapause is completely out, I don't really know about early onset menapause or pre-menopause.  I think I will just get a test, they aren't that expensive, you are right.

I just checked at it looks like I am still pretty young yet for even pre-menopause.  I think I will call my DH and ask him to pick up a test on the way home (too tough to convince all the kids to go out with me).  His reaction when I mentioned I really felt PG was first of course, "well that would be a shock".  But there, "What's one more, ha, ha".

Edited: to add bolded portion

i'd take a test just for the mere fact that you'll sleep better tonight knowing one way or another.

What are the chances of getting pregnant after that procedure?  I was thinking of getting that done after my last child.  I have one but would like one or two more.

but let us know either way!!

good luck!

I checked the failure rate of a tubal ligation and it appears to be 1.4% (slightly higher if you had during a c-section-which I did).  So not 0, but not real likely either.  Hopefully I will know one way or another tomorrow (I will wait to test until morning to make sure I don't get a false negative).

it is possible to get pregnant after having your tubes tied, as you have discovered.  I have a very good friend who got pregnant about 8 years after having her tubes tied.  Unfortunately, she had her tubes tied because she had lupus and pregnancy and lupus do not mix very well, and because of her beliefs would not have an abortion so she ended up with a metally disabled child due to a bad lupus attack during her pregnancy.
