Surgeries and Weight Gain
I am returning to this site after leaving for about a year. When I was actively participating in the community and logging my foods and activities I was on target to my desired weight (150 pounds).
I have, just this year had 3 surgeries and have gained quite a bit of weight from lack of activity (and the medications). I am just now (FINALLY) able to start working out again... gotta take it easy for a bit, but should be back up to speed in a few weeks.
I went from 184 to 205 in a matter of months.
&nb sp; &nb sp; EEK!!!
Anyone got some good activities or excercises for someone who can't lift more than 10 pounds? (no pilates, yoga or jogging... per Doctor too much stretching will harm my insides and the jarring motion of jogging is a big no-no)
Water aerobics would be super low impact, but that's also kind of like stretching I suppose. Well, swimming would kind of be like stretching, I mean. Try a stationary bike and turn up the resistance on it? There's no jarring motion and you can definitely work up a sweat! Maybe power walking? Or really, just walking at all (that is until you heal more and can start power walking/jogging). Umm... That's all I can think of right now, but, if you bike for 30 min a day and walk for 30 min a day that would be adequate exercise and should be okay for your body.
Hope this helps! Good luck!
water JOGGING would be a great way to go -- deep water with a waist float -- little to no jarring motion, not really any stretching and you don't need to know any fancy moves.
Until you get clearance from the doctor you should probably just walk. That was all I was able to do after my surgery in Jan. I was itchy to get back on my elipitical and bike,,, and the weights just taunted me under my bench!!! However running the risk of a hernia kept me honest. Walk, walk, walk. I wouldn't twist, bend, reach or lift until the doctor give the OK.
Best wishes on healing up well.
