Surrounding Areas of Philadelphia

I've noticed there isn't a whole lot of activity in this group, and its kinda a bummer :P. I wouldn't mind chatting with a few people around me, possibly getting an exercise buddy out of it all, to help motivate me outside this site. Maybe this thread could serve this purpose.

I live around the Downingtown/Exton area. I do most of my exercise as running outside (parks/trails), treadmills and the elliptical. I don't do much strength training, because simply, I know nothing about it, and am nervous to start :P. I do exercise roughly 5 times a week, sometimes less, sometimes more, depends on where my motivation is that week. I guess I'll leave it like this, and hope someone else answers!

Oh yea, I'll be gone tomorrow, so I might not be on here till the day after tomorrow.

Hey - I live in Bryn Mawr, not very close to Exton - but I've been searching desparately for an excerise buddy too so I feel your pain. I'm going to be starting the "couch to 5K" program ASAP and wouldn't mind meeting up with people on different days in different locals to keep things fresh. I always get bored running around my neighborhood and then just stop...haha.

I don't do any strength training either (for the same reason) but would love to figure out more about it.

Good Job on the 5 times a week! I'm impressed, I usually pat myself on the back for 3 times a week. I do try to at least take a walk on days that I am feeling ultra lazy though.

Was away yesterday, so didn't get a chance to post. I do know where Bryn Mawr is, I used to live around West Chester, which is right next to it. 5 days a week can be hard sometimes, I can sometimes manage to force myself to go do something, but still, its not fun. Its alot more fun to exercise with someone. There is a really good trail (Struble) for running right next to me too, not too hilly, paved, pretty shady and pretty fun to run. Whats your fitness level right now? I noticed you are starting the 5k program, but you do exercise anyways which is good!

I'm actually looking into one of the adult boot camp programs around here,  I have a free trial with one of them on Tuesday and we shall see how it goes.

Adult boot camp?! I'm totally interested - where is it?

I'm out of shape still, but I'm working on it diligently this summer. I'm sure you are at a higher fitness level then me, I wouldn't even know how to classify myself...maybe "recovering couch potato" haha :-P

I have a family wedding this weekend taking up all of my free time, but hopefully I'll get some down time to take a run or two. Next week I'm going to start the couch to 5K, since I've already been running I think I'm going to start with week 2 or 3 and see if the program help builds my stamina.

There are a few boot camp programs, but I picked on in Coatseville. I have been emailing the director at the program for a few days to see what it was about. Seems like it will be alot of fun, 3 days a week. The exact place is stored on my work computer, which I'm not on at the moment, but Ill put the exact location tomorrow. They meet next Tuesday, and then I'll know more.

The director did say the camp had varying fitness levels of people in it, so its probably good for any fitness levels. Plus, just running gets old, I'm really bored of it lately, after doing it all the time :P

Running can get old its true. I always lose motivation so fast - so maybe if someone is there screaming at me to keep running I'll do it! haha.

Having at least one other person there with you really helps. The days that you just don't have the motivation to go, they force you out. Same with them, when they don't want to go they force you out.

Tomorrow is my trial at the boot camp place. Hope it goes good!

Well definately let me know how it goes today!! I'm excited for you!
