Survivor (New Season) starts tomorrow
Just wanted to let you guys know. Is it me or are they starting the season early?
http://www.cbs.com/primetime/survivor/
i'm definitely going to watch!!! i grew up in south america :)
plus..... i have a crush on jeff :D
ohh thanks! i hope this is a good season. they lost me for a few there when they tried getting all fancy and changing stuff around a ton.
i like good old fashioned survivor without all the weird twists and turns!
Last season was really good Jules!! The players kept blindsiding each other and mixing things up. I hear this year they will send two people to exile island!
I like the new rules and surprises. Gotta keep 'em on their toes!
moodymomma + Jeff <3 <3 <3
I never understood that show....drama + fake survival show? I would MUCH rather watch man vs wild!! he is REALLY surviving! He knows his stuff! He caught a freaking aligator with his hands in the swamp and killed it / ate it!
Ooooo or a real "survivor" show! Where they put out a couple teams or something and watch them as they try to survive / get out of real sittuations! The one that gets to a save point or performs the best wins! OoOoo that would be fun.... kind of like "junkyard wars"...but with survival! !!
ahh the point isn't so much the survival part, it's the drama and the fact that it's a game show and a competition.
i actually did watch and really like last season jennifer! it was the few before that i couldn't get into for some reason. i felt kinda like they went back to old school survivor (with exile still thrown in) last season though, and i liked it!
i didnt watch last season
. i always used to watch but i really like the office and 30 rock, so i skipped survivor last season. i liked the guatemala season best.
Lets hope Jeff doesnt get all Product Placement-y like all the other NBC shows
My wife loves this show... personally, the only season I thought was worth watching at all was the one with Rupert.
^ I love Rupert, he was actually in All Stars as well!
But, I've watched every season since the 1st -- obsessed much?None the less, I'm very excited for tomorrow's premire -- from the commercials it seems like episode one is already going to have a surprise or two.
Then Amazing Race on Sunday!
<- Watches too much reality tv.
i can't wait! ![]()
i agree that it's not exactly 'surviving' as in 'being a survivalist'
it's about surviving group dynamics, physical challenges, and sometimes management of oneself
like, they do sometimes make poor choices with rationing their food and then they run low -- when this happens, sometimes one or more of them will figure out how to catch some food (fish, rats, what have you) or if they can't, they try to figure out who to blame for their food shortage (the person who eats more than his or her share) and they inevitably lose the immunity challenge and then boot that person off
i like the show
i'd want to be on the show, except that i don't do gross (could not, would not eat something gross)
Nomo - I am the same way. I couldn't / wouldn't eat anything gross! NOPE
hatamoto - I loved Rupert too! This last season I enjoyed but I didn't have an immediate person I really liked. In the end I liked the Professor (who won) and Suga.. but eh.. Not like I liked Rupert.
pengy - I've watched every single season as well. Remember the one where the brought Richard Hatch back? I LOVED it when he said 'I've been bamboozeled!" haha

what on EARTH are you talking about?
*chews an entire pack of extra sugar free gum*
survivor has been pretty product placement-y all along
from the Dodge Durango that someone might win, to the Doritos and Cokes for a reward to the home depot outdoor shower and building sets...
but i don't care - i like it in spite of that stuff ![]()
i don't mind product placement, i just hate when they try to make is seem like a natural part of the show, like on TBL. ughhhh
I too have watched from season one. (naked Richard Hatch - geez!!!) I'm pretty stoked about this season. I loved Bob last season. He made the best fake idols ever! He truly did "outwit, outplay and outlast" the others!
I like trying to figure out who is going to do what and to whom. Our whole family gets a kick out of the challenges and we always discuss how we would or wouldn't do at them.
I'm with ya Jules on the stuff on TBL. It seems to get worse each season on there with all the products they toss in. Thanks for the commercial DURING the show! I mean, if the stuff was just sitting around, ok, but they are so obvious with it. I guess ya gotta pay the bills somehow, but can't we please just stick to regular commercials. Then when I TiVo it I can fast forward through them. Oh dang....that may be the answer to why they put the crap in the show!
I have watched since season one as well and really love how group dynamics come into play.
Loriklorik if you want true survival google Survivorman, its a show from canada on OLN, as Man vs. Wild is all set up and not real at all

Spuckine, I've watched Survivorman and that's a pretty cool show too.
I too love the group dynamics in Survivor. I also try, at the beginning, to determine which will be the smart guy, the slutty girl, the stongest, the biggest game player, the most annoying. Johnny Fariplay, anyone. I called that one! But he was kinda easy to figure.

Heh... that guy is a complete nutbar. Can be entertaining though.
Re: Rupert and all-stars episode - I have a theory... so many people loved Rupert, he was such a phenomenon, that the network was facing a mass revolt against the entire Survivor franchise if they didn't throw him a bone.
I think the all-star episode was created entirely for Rupert to win some cash and satisfy the torch and pitchfork weilding population at the gates. ;)
... but just to give you an idea of how cool he was, my wife wrote him a letter. Fan mail, in essence. He wrote back, by hand, in pen and gave a quick rundown of how he was doing and what he spent the cash on. I sort of teased her about being a fawning fanboy, but I admit I was impressed that he took the time out to make that personal connection.
hatamoto!!!
He wrote her back by hand? Awww, Rupert. What a great guy. So what did he spend his money on?
You know who else is great? Little People Big World.. the Roloff's. My mom loves them so much.. I was able to get a copy of his book signed personally not only by him but his wife and all three kids! She cried when she got that gift!
I'd have to reference the letter again, and my wife's off on a trip with her dad in Australia right now so it'd be an interesting game locating it at the moment ;) but if I recall correctly, he paid off his house, set up some education funds for his kids and helped his mom out with some outstanding stuff. I think he also got a car.
