is most of the calories in sushi contained in the rice? such as a 404 cal pack, the tesco ones, where its tuna, salmon and veg, if i cut off all the rice would it lower it realllly low...
just wondering because i dont like rice that much, and wanting a decent cal estimate to put on my food log
Well... Depends. If it's nigiri then yes most of the time it comes from rice. Although with eel it comes from the eel. With rolls, it really depends on which ones you get. Things like crunchy, tempura in the name usually means deep fried stuff in the middle. Baked or special spicy sauce usually means mayo. Then ofcourse most rolls have avacado. In general most of the calories in rolls come from what is inside. Unless you order very basic ones, not the fancy shmancy they have in U.S. You could also order sashimi, which is basically raw fish on radish. This is what I usually order, and then share a roll or two with people I go to restaurant with.
