i was never one to eat sushi but my fiancee all of a sudden got into it and the past few times he has ordered different rolls and asked me to try some.. my question is, how horrible is sushi for you? i had a piece of spicy tuna roll and california roll but didn't have more than that because i don't know how caloric it was or might have been. So i guess my question is, is sushi bad for you or are there ones that are better for you than others?
Sushi is a great health food. Make sure, if you're watching your calories, to avoid ones involving fried things, like tempura. Mayonnaise mixed with crab also adds a lot of cals. Also, most of the calories in rolls and things come from rice, so either watch how much rice you're eating or order sashimi. Raw fish is a fabulously healthy food!
If you just ate one roll and one piece of another, I'd venture to guess you only had around perhaps 500 cals at the most. California rolls have mayonnaise and avocado so they're more on the higher side but you only had ONE so don't worry at all!
He is not in to sushi he is in to rolls. lol.

The BF digs on maki, so what.
Where do you guys live that california rolls have mayo? They just have crabstick, avocado and cucumber here.
California... Every California roll I encountered has imitation crab meat, which is basically bits of fish mixed with mayo.

-shrugs- I guess so. At the Wegmans here, it says a brown rice cali roll pkg is 200 calories. I'll take that any day. Honestly, I prefer just tuna and cucumber maki
