Suuuuga...
One of the best parts of CC is seeing your intake recommendations and getting a heart attack when you go to your food log and see your Nutritional Report analysis is about 2 or 3 times over it.. So having lots of depressing fun going through lollipopfairy's awesome informational thread, I saw the daily intake recommendation of Sugar. I'll even post it here so you all can have a heart attack as well.
The World Health Organization?s recommends that 10% percent of your total calories come from sugars. Here is how the math breaksdown:
1200 calories, 10% = 120 calories = 30.0 g of sugar
1300 calories, 10% = 130 calories = 32.5 g of sugar
1400 calories, 10% = 140 calories = 35.0 g of sugar
1500 calories, 10% = 150 calories = 37.5 g of sugar
1600 calories, 10% = 160 calories = 40.0 g of sugar
1700 calories, 10% = 170 calories = 42.5 g of sugar
1800 calories, 10% = 180 calories = 45.0 g of sugar
1900 calories, 10% = 190 calories = 47.5 g of sugar
2000 calories, 10% = 200 calories = 50.0 g of sugar
2100 calories, 10% = 210 calories = 52.5 g of sugar
2200 calories, 10% = 220 calories = 55.0 g of sugar
2300 calories, 10% = 230 calories = 57.5 g of sugar
2400 calories, 10% = 240 calories = 60.0 g of sugar
My cal intake is supposed to be 2300 cals, but if you've followed any of my other threads, I'm having problems with incopperating 500 more cals into my diet. So in one of my food logs I'm only at 1539 cals... just that alone brought me up to 107 GRAMS OF SUGAR.
So.. am I alone here ? C'mon everyone.. check your report and see if you are on the path to diabetes as well. (err..jk..hopefully =/)
so far today im at 1220 out of 1370 calories with 45 grams of sugar. maintenance is 1670. i had an apple and a tbsp of honey in my tea.
Wow..this is crazy. I have had around 1000 cals (too low I know) today and around 75 or more grams of sugar. I don't even eat that bad of stuff either. I can't imagine how off it would be if I wasn't trying to be healthy.
i think this is ADDED sugar...
one apple has 19g of sugar.
an orange has about 15g.
a cup of melon has 14g
and a banana has 14g.
this is all medium sized fruits.
So if you had your 3 servings, without even having ANY GRAINS you would already be at 45grams.
then with your 6-7 servings of grains...you have another 14ish grams added in there. So i really don't think this is at all realistic if they are including the sugar from fruit, grains, and veggies.

Yeah that was my thought too. So if your sugar is coming from fruit or vegetables, it's not unhealthy. I'm sure WHO isn't out to prevent you getting your 5+ a day! :)
Wow, that seems ridiculously low, at least looking at how much sugar is in my diet, and the only thing I eat with sugar in it is fruit!
If I look at many of the items on my list, like strawberries, mangoes, apples, watermelon, etc., it'll tell me all the good stuff I already know (high in fibre, high in Vit C, etc.), but it always states the bad as being too high in sugar. Well, I'm not about to cut my fresh fruit out of my diet just to cut a few grams of sugar. CC can stuff it on that one :P
Sugar warnings always freak me out. I have around 100g of refined sugar a day and then even more from fruit on top of that.
My dietition says not to worry about that though, only in specific cases, if it is linked to your certain health problems, especially in recovery from anorexia (which is my situation)
I really struggle to find low sugar foods that actually taste good...
