Comfort over more sweat for sure.

Sweat is just water. Sweating a lot means you're losing fluids and hydration. Basically, water weight. It doesn't necessarily mean you're burning more calories.
dressing extra warm to sweat more, sounds unhealthy to me

when i was a kid my mom had a shiny aluminum-looking suit that she exercised in so she'd sweat more. she is still dieting.

i don't know I guess you could try it. as long as you stay hydrated and don't you know, pass out from heat stroke.

Sounds like when I was rowing light weight and our coach made one girl sit in the car with the heat on for a couple of hours before weigh in (it was already 80 degrees outside).

Not healthy at all in my opinion. You will be more likely to dehydrate yourself and it can really hurt your workout.
As stated above any extra weight loss is water weight.  While you are exercising you will need to stay hydrated.  Wearing one of those works against that.  I have heard of health benefits of a sauna room, however percautions must be taken and exercise while be overheated would be a dangerous combinations.  Also any weight loss from water loss would come back easily.
I have always heard that you need to sweat to burn calories.I am one of those people that do not sweat easily so I have a hard time with that theory.

I have found out when I don't worry about sweating and just dress for confort, I tend to exercise longer.

I am definately loseing weight, so my openion is don't worry if you sweat or not just try to move more and have fun doing it!
I sweat like crazy, and I've never noticed that it's caused me to lose any more than just water, unfortunately!
If I am well hydrated before a workout I tend to sweat more than if I didn't drink enough water prior to a workout.  so if you aren't sweating you may need to drink more water before your workout cause your body needs to use its internal temp control system to cool you down and if you don't have enough water in your system to feed your brain and other vital organs you could cause some major damage to yourself.  Of course there are times when I'm not working out hard and then I won't sweat but most of the time I need a fan blowing on me and a wet towel nearby to wipe myself off with.  I also gotta have a water bottle nearby to keep hydrating while working out.
The only times that I would deliberately dress too warmly were times when I was trying to acclimate myself to exercising in the heat. I didn't do it often.

There's really no other reason for doing it.
