Do you have to sweat to get a good workout?
I dont sweat when I work out. Do you have to sweat to get a good workout. I feel like I am working hard. I usually walk and I am building up to jogging. When I jog, I start breathing heavy and have to slow down to catch my breath, but I still dont sweat.

Nope, not everyone sweats. However, lack of sweat could be a sign that you're not drinking enough water. Just make sure you are! A good sign that you're working hard enough (and not TOO hard) is that you're breathing hard but you could still hold a conversation.
heh, sounds what like my dad thinks, he thinks if you dont sweat , you arnt working out. he just doesnt beilive that you can burn of 300 calories walking for an hour, nope... silly huh?
excersise is all about heart rate, sweating is just the bodies way of cooling itself and depends on a lot of things, like your hydration level, humidity, air flow.
Get a good heart rate monitor and read up on how to set up your workout zones.

I have never been one to really sweat. I did some serious workouts growing up since I was a dancer in the senior company of a dance troup. I always thought I must not have been working as hard as the rest of the girls whos backs were soaking wet.
It turns out that I just dont sweat as much as other people. Its just a natural thing.

I agree - the important thing is the heart rate and keeping it in your "zone" - that is when you are effectively working out - sometime i don't sweat - just glisten.... the best investment i have made is the heart monitor!
Make sure to drink 8 oz of water before you work out - it could be an hour before or right before. Sometimes not sweating just means you don't have enough fluid in your system to sweat. for me if I am working at a slow walking but in my light cardio zone I won't sweat. If I am pushing things hard I sweat like a stuffed pig - but I also drink alot of water during the day and before working out.
I joke that I sweat like a man, but I've seen girls who don't sweat at all. Just wanted to warn you that if you don't sweat, you could be prone to overheating. We had a girl with us on a trip to the southwest and she did not sweat. She didn't drink enough water and wound up passing out on us. She didn't think she needed the extra water since she wasn't sweating it out like the rest of us.
Hope this helps!
