Sweaty Betty!!

Quote  |  Reply

Hiya,

I have recently just started working out at the gym every morning before work, and I absolutely love it. Great start to the day and I have already dropped 3kg in a week, with out even seriously watching what I eat (I always eat healthy but do like the odd treat- ie wine and cheese, which I had!)

However I have noticed I sweat sooooooooooooo much at the gym, much more than the other girls around me! I'm not seriously overweight, my body mass is 24 I just have a around 7 Kilos to lose and just seriously want to shape up for the summer. I'm not horrendously unfit either having cycled to and from work (about 30 mins each way) for the last year....also when I'm doing all this excessive sweating- i'm not out of breath, infact can keep running/training for a while so it's not like I'm pushing to much myself either...

But seriously I look at though someone has thrown water on me sometimes....it's a tad embarrassing! Does anyone else have the similar problem? Will it go away with time?

I'm a very pale girl so get quite pink too but I'm used to that...it's the celtic blood! Just the sweating I don't like :(

I can't tell you about it going away with time - i hope someone can offer that encouragement, I'd like to hear it myself.

I'm just writing to tell you that I basically get red when I work out and am a sweaty betty too. I prefer to run outside when it's cool when I have the option...

you're not alone, betty.

oh just noticed, maybe it's a Meg thing. That's my name too...

Hey there!!! I have about 15 pounds to lose but I can tell you that when I work out no matter what it is running ( and I box) I sweat an immense amount... I don't think that it will go away and I understand that its not the best feeling :) but just think of it as a sign that you are doing something great for your body and your not alone!!

Same problem here!! Some of the older people have teased me at the gym and asked "have you been swimming or something?" lol I get on the treadmill and within 6 mins my hair is getting wet, then by the time I'm done my Entire shirt is soaked. :(

I tend to lose about 1-2lbs every workout if I don't keep drinking during it. Just goes to show that you're doing it right by pushing yourself ;)

um can we put your sweat problem aside for a sec. i hope that i am just being a metric system idiot here (although i am in the medical field and i do have low self confidence, im pretty sure i have a decent grasp on the metric system...), but are you saying you lost 3 kg in one week, really? because thats equal to roughly 6.6 pounds. supposedly it is "healthy" to only lose around 2 lbs a week. but, if you're very overweight, its absolutely easy to lose 6 pounds (3kg) in a week if you suddenly restrict your diet and work out daily. but you said you are not "seriously overweight", so losing 3kg in one week seems like a bit of a red flag to me.

i'm really rather perplexed about this!

Girl me too! I get red and i sweat a looot!! But my dad and my brother are the same way we can be  outside in the sun for three minutes and be sweating already!

But when i go to the gym i love to sweat makes me feel like ive had a great work out!Wink

I sweat a lot too! Mainly my lower back. I'd rather be a sweaty mess knowing I worked then the girls without a spot of sweat who are using the pink dumb bells to work out lol.

Haha, yes that is me too, I sweat gallons. Mostly my face... I'm not really a fan of sweating, but hey, nothing I can do about it and at least I know I've worked hard!

I know how you feel megmagpie, i sweat so much and my face goes really red, i look like my head is about to explode but i feel ok.

I like that i sweat so much because it makes me feel like i'm having a really good workout when i come out of the gym wet through. I used to go to a gym with a lot of posers, the women were all in full makeup..I really didn't care though i paid to go to the gym to workout not strut round.

As you become more fit, your sweating will actually increase.  It is one of those training things that your body gets used to.  As you go forward, your body will increase sweat in anticipation of a good workout.

Sorry for the bad news...

I really don't mind it.

''BRING ON THE SWEAT''

Ok, thanks guys! I guess I'll just have to live with the sweating! It was suggested to me that it may be something to do with my diet, (too much salt) but I will put that down as a load of nonsense.....it was from a friend who has a habit of believing everything that she reads, no matter how ludicrous so I had my doubts!

As many of you have said, at least it's a sign I'm working out hard, and that's what I am there to do!!

your

meant to add : yourhearttme- No you have the Metric system right- it is a lot to have lost in week-but nothing to worry about... I didn't lose anything this week!!! Went from 75kgs-72kgs last. I'm 5"10 btw.  Have no idea why I saw such a dramatic drop one week then none the next. Like I say I haven't changed my diet and I eat! healthy and veggie but I do love my food (why I'm on here in the first place no doubt!! mmmmm carbs. hehe)
