Too Sweaty - need advise

Quote  |  Reply
Hi All

Just looking for a bit of advise, everytime I go to the gym I seem to get alot sweatier than everyone else despite the fact I'm not working as hard as them, by time time I'm finished my workout my top is absolutely soaking

is this a good or a bad thing?

does it mean I'm not fit?

Is there anything I can do about it?

Monday to Friday I do 45 minutes in the gym at 6.30am then another hour or a class like body combat at 6.00pm, I reckon I'm pretty fit so I don't see why I should be so sweaty.

inci_vinci - The "superior climate control" was a little joke. Didn't you notice the little smilie next to it?

You wanted documentation to support my post. I believe tgpish has supplied you with great points. I'm still trying to find the article that states sweat loss is related to VO2... might of been one of those "pay as you view" medical sites. Here are a few more links...you'll have to scroll down a few of them to get to the topic.

A woman's core temperature varies depending on what phase she is in her cycle. We tend to have a bit higher core temp and higher sweat threshold during the post-ovulatory phase and similar core body temps with men/lower sweat threshold during the pre-ovulatory phase. Women also rely on circulatory cooling more than men.
thnx tgpish & canonelle !

tgpish - i will pm u if reqd, if u dont mind.
It's a good thing obviously. Drink lots of water thereafter to stay hydrated but remember a workout is worthless, unless you've broken a sweat.

I sweat alot heck I sweat alot while I sleep!  I take a medication that one of the side effects it says is excessive sweating - so that can be a factor.  I also have a very high VO2max level of 57 (i'm female 47 years old) so this is very good and I will say that TG's post about the VO2level effecting the sweat factor is probably true for me.  I know a few years ago I didn't sweat nearly as much as I do now for the same workouts so the fitter I become, the less fat% I have and the higher my V2 is the more I sweat.

girls,  wait till hot flashes and you will see a new meaning to the word 'sweat'.  I finally got determined to ignore it while working, but once had a client say, "you have water running down your face".  Nothing like being at work all day and having your waistline damp, or your neckline.

I never sweat under my arms, it was always my face.  Now jogging 3 miles, I get totally soaked and can lose 1.5#, but drink lots of water.

MY boyfriend said while watching TV, "can you move away, sitting next to you is like being next to a furnace".  My hairdresser said, "I can feel heat coming off your head".
ohio- those are power surges not hot flashes hehehe- Aint it grand being this age!!!
