Sweeny Todd
Ok so my mom rented the movie and we're kinda afraid to watch it. Has anyone seen it? How was it? (Its the one w/ Johnny Depp.)
I haven't watched it...I doubt it's scary, but based on people's comments in other threads about it, they said it's gory.
haha lol. Thanks guys. Anyone else?
Enjoy the movie! But I agree with Hockeygirl; skip the popcorn... a meat pie would be much more appropriote, don't you think?
It's not really scary it's more tragic. No food if you get queasy easily.
I love the history of Sweeny Todd (do a google and you will see he was for real)..I have seen both the play and the movie(s) and I think the play is better..Johnny Depp makes for a great "Demon Barber of Fleet Street", I just wish they had included ALL the music (yes, it is a Musical)..as for gory, I didnt really think so, maybe a bit macabre. Just keep in mind that it is a musical based on a mad mans revenge.
The blood and such in the movie is very, very fake looking. You should be alright. It was a really well done musical though..... I'm not big on musicals and I liked it.
This is a movie where it pays to get the two disc version. The Added features include the history of Sweeney Todd plus the history of the musical
its okay. i like how everyone gets screwed over in the end with no happy ending. ;)
i never thought johnny depp was hot till i saw this movie.
he's bomb gorgeous.
Alan Rickman is THE man! I was absolutely thrilled when i saw him in the cast next to Johnny D. and Helena B-C. I've been in love with this guy since I saw him play the sheriff of Nottingham in "Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves". He was brilliant, with this voice of his and everything, so much better than Kevin Costner and the others. Every movie with him, even in a minor role, is a real treat :)
All I can say is it wasn't worth the $3 to rent it with :/
great great musical...very very gory though...I like it
I mean I only saw previews prior to go seeing it in theaters (so I did not read up on it) and I was aware that he sang certain parts but I thought it was only like a bit of singing or something. The whole damn movie is a one big musical.
So I wasn't prepared for that and hence somewhat perturbed. (I mean I do watch musicals but that was not what I was expecting that day).
It's a great musical. I love Tim Burton's style. The blood looks like red paint to it's pretty easy to deal with the gore (90% of the killings happen in one montage, close your eyes like my mom did and have someone tell you when it's over). Don't expect a happy ending, they didn't hollywoodize this one.
