Sweet craving...
What do all of you eat to help satisfy those sweet cravings? You know, those times you just really want something sweet and nothing else will do? I know fruits are good but today I was really craving something sweet and chewy. I was sooo tempted to make some peanut butter no bake cookies which would have been awful and completely screwed up my day. I ended up making a weird concoction of saltine crackers with a tiny layer of peanut butter covered in chocolate pudding from one of my pudding cups. Sounds awful I know! (But not not nearly as many calories as those cookies would have been!) Anyway, anyone have any ideas of decently healthy treats I can keep on hand for those times I just really "have" to have something sweet and chewy?

Your pudding/cracker/pb combo sounds like something I'd do! I'm really getting into the Balance Bars. I had one the other day...chocolate caramel something or other...and only 100 cals. It totally satisfied my craving. But I have different types of sweets cravings. Sometimes a diet soda or some crystal light will solve it. I've recently been indulging in (evil) McDonalds soft serve..only 150 calories. Other times I just pop a sugar free candy or two resulting in only 5-15 calories at most.
i use frozen grapes..mmmmmm :D low cal and so good
Granola bar. You could always dip a graham cracker in fat-free/sugar-free chocolate pudding and add a dollop of fat-free whipped topping. "Diet dessert"
I buy the dried fruit like strawberries, bananas, apples, etc (without sugar...the natural markets often sell them that way or if you have a food dehydrator you can make your own) and then eat them like candy. they still have calories to count, but not a huge number for a decent amount.
your cracker/pb/pudding combo sounds good :)

luna bars -- higher cal -- but more nutritious (180 cal)
and, I recently discovered the fiber one bars -- 150 cals and the peanut butter oats ones taste like something my grandma would have made (1501 cals-- 9 grams fiber!)
I still try to eat mostly fruit/veggie snacks though! another treat in the evening, is instead of ice cream I'll have some cereal/milk/banana and raisins.that's almost like a dessert to me now
sometimes you just feel the need to have something sweet and chewy, and I figure one of these is much better than making cookies!

I go for 1 hershey kiss or a wintogreen mint. Splurging on sweets for me is a 100 calorie pack of cookies :) I used to eat sweets all the time!
I did goof on Saturday though... Grad party... a lil too much alcohol in me and I ate a pretty decent portion of marble cake with yummy, yummy frosting... That won't happen again though, I never buy cake! :)

You guys have tons of good ideas. Thank you. I will definitely be adding some of these to my grocery list. I did okay with the sweets yesterday but ended up eating grilled cheese with my kids last night. :( But I only had one instead of my ususal two. So it's still an improvement I guess. My goal for the day is to look around for healthier versions of the foods I like so I don't feel like I have to go without. I have eaten badly for so long that I don't really know where to begin, lol.
I like to make a protein smoothie out of 1/2 a scoop of my chocolate whey protein powder and 1/2 a frozen banana. Tastes like a chocolate milkshake, has lots of protein, and it's only 100 calories!
Hungry-girl.com has lots of lowfat and lowcal desserts that are many times good for you.
Get some of those 60 calorie chocolate jello cups, some cool whips, and get creative! Dip any kind of berries in it for a fancy dessert under 100 calories.
Try baking an apple or slicing it up and zapping it in the microwave, then topping with cinnamon. It really tastes like apple pie!

If you were craving chocolate and PB, why not just stir a spoonful of PB into the pudding cup? Or spread a little PB onto a chocolate ricecake? The saltines do sound a little weird ^_^; .
If I'm craving sweets, I'll usually try to fill it with fruits or veggies, like sweet potatoes or apples (both are good microwaved, with sinnamon and Splenda or sugar) or berries. If I'm craving ice-cream I eat nonfat yogurt, which works pretty well. If there are pudding snacks or granola bars in the house, I'll sometimes go for one of those. Often there are grahams and PB in the house, so sometimes I'll make that. No Pudge brownies are good when nothing but a "real" treat will do, but I ran out of that. . . have to get some more. . . Sometimes I'll make a smoothie, which works especially well if there's banana in it. Lowfat/nonfat milk with a little Nesquik is good. So is tea (especially vanilla or chai) with a little milk and Splenda. That's about all I can think of right now.
