Sweet Cravings

Quote  |  Reply
Personally, my biggest obstacle in being healthy is trying to eat less junk food and sweets. The thing is, my mom has tons of candy around the house, so whenever I have friends over, she puts out tons of it. Does anybody have any suggestions on what I can do to not only skip the junk food, but also get over cravings for junk in general? I try eating carrots, apples, etc. when friends are over, but it's exceptionally hard not to eat junk when it's right in front of you, and your friends are eating it.

Also, any suggestions for healthy sweets, and maybe something chocolatey but not as bad for you as chocolate? Thanks so much!

So. Good. :)
the south beach 100 calorie snack bars in chocolate taste like chocolate cake batter

i have a sweets problem too (for baked goods), but ive found that if i dont even have a bite of it, i'll be fine. Because once i know what I COULD have, then I'll eat a ton of it. But if i dont even have the taste in my mouth, i'll stay away.
all those treats sound delicious..but arent filling. if ur a chocolate lover or perhaps love cheesecake or caramel.. go for the sugarfree, fat free pudding with a dollop of whipped cream. delicious alternative thats 100 cals a serving
lizzlebizzle, those sound delicious! I checked out the link and can get them right here in town. Thanks!
Kashi Go Lean Crunchy! Bars in Chocolate Almond or Chocolate Caramel are yummy!  :D
I find, when I need chocolate, that I don't necessarily need a whole bar of chocolate, just a hershey's kiss or two. A Hershey's kiss isn't alot of calories.

Indulge, just be smart about it :D

I like cut up strawberries, peaches, nectarines & red grapes. Sometimes,  I sprinkle with 1/2tsp of confectioner's sugar for the times I really need something sweet. Plus, 2tbsp of the Hershey's Chocolate Syrup(can) is only 100cal!! You could drizzle that on top as well.

Even if I'm not in the mood, I'll make this anyway & after the first bite, I pretty much clean the bowl. It's really worked keeping me away from the sweets.
I like the special K bars, they kind of taste like a rice crispy treat or try chewy granola bars. The chocolate chunk is good because you can actually taste the chocolate.
Fudgsicles or creamsicles...the sugar free ones are pretty good.

I like the low-sugar Luna protein bars for a sweet treat (under 200 calories, under 10g of sugar and you get your protein). I also like the sugar-free Jell-O pudding snacks (60 calories).

Diet coke
Celery/carrots
flavored rice cakes (caramel is my favorite)
chewing gum.
pretzels (low fat)
fruit popicles

Hey, cool! Thanks so much everybody! ^^
When I'm craving sweet, if I eat any regular old Hershey product (or similar) I am totally unsatisfied.  I think you have to find a chocolate that is really rich and delicious b/c then you won't want any more.  Also, I second Megz590.  It has to be filling.  Pudding with raspberries in it and (FF/SF?) Cool Whip on top. (Not sure which is the lowest calorie CW option).
So, I've got weird tastes, and weirder eating habits, but when I'm craving sweets, I either eat a whole batch of sugar free jello (40 cals for 2 cups, and I make it with flavored carbonated water -- mmm, fizzy), or I down a few swallows of smuckers sugar free breakfast syrup (30 cals for 1/4 cup). Like I said, I'm weird. But, it works. The jello tastes good and also makes me too full to want anything else, and the syrup works best if I immediately brush my teeth with my vanilla mint toothpaste (tastes like angel food cake batter).  Me = weirdo.
ONE OF MY FAVORITE SNACKS IS FROZEN GRAPES WITH RASPBERRY JELLO POWDER.  TAKE A CUP OF GRAPES (SEEDLESS ARE BEST), WASH AND PUT IN A ZIPLOC BAG AND SPRINKLE WITH SUGAR FREE JELLO MIX(POWDER)ANY FLAVOR.  SHAKE WELL TO COVER GRAPES THEN FREEZE. ENJOY.
I totally agree with you..once I start munching on the chocolate..I cant stop. What I try to do is eiether not let there be any in the house because then I dont have the temptation, this is quite hard because I am only 17 and living at home or have snack bars like alpen light which are only 70 calories per bar or a piece of fruit with yoghurt but i also like frozen yoghurt which is kind of like ice cream...but then again,if you are going to treat yourself to some chocolate, have dark..full of goodness.homemade fruit muffins are another good way of craving that sweet tooth..i made some that are only 168 calories.

hope i helped
