Sweet 16!...........

Quote  |  Reply

After making healthier lifestyle choices like modifying my eating habits and working out I had the pleasure of having one of the best days of my life yesterday.

A friend of mine and I have both been working toward healthier lifestyles. We share similar stats although she is 1.5 inches taller than I am at 5'11 and she is right behind me in terms of weight loss.

On to the awesome, wonderful amazing moment. We had eaten lunch and were off to do a little shopping and I was complaining a bit about my pants falling down. I blamed it on not wearing a belt and we continued on. I kept hitching my pants up until I got frustrated and really looked down at them. Even when I hitched them up as far as they could go there were these empty pockets that I used to fill in. =)

On impulse I grabbed a pair of size 16 capri pants and tried them on. To my surprise they fit! Not only that but they were comfortable. I came out and my friend was cheering me on and smiling. She decided to try on a size 18 pant and lo and behold they fit her like a dream! She started crying and so did I.

We have been so busy being healthier, working, taking care of family etc that we hadn't stopped to really look at ourselves. We knew our clothes were loose but yesterday opened our eyes to the fact the we are smaller than we thought we were.

We made a pact to get rid of the clothes we are swimming in, alter or have altered the business attire that might last a little longer and start buying clothes in our current sizes. Today was tough as I love clothes but I forced myself to try on last seasons winter clothing and get rid of it since I know it won't fit when winter comes again. It will be hard as I have to learn the new places to shop for my current size.

Putting a number to my new fitness level still has me smiling today. Thank you for listening.  =)

PS I started at a size 20 and 264lbs.

YAYAYAYAYAY!!!  I've recently discovered a whole other wardrobe consisting of clothes I couldn't wear anymore...they all fit now!! including my expensive suits....so yay for that!  I even threw out my size 18 pants!! I have to hang on to some of my "too big" work clothes for the time being, using a belt, but thats ok :)

Congratulations on your success! I am so very happy for you. I hope you continue to be successful on your journey.

That's amazing!

I'm not going to lie though, I've been hanging on to my old, loose clothes partly to remind myself how far I've come (it feels so good to have my pants hang off!) and partly to wear in the hopes that someone will finally notice that I've lost weight, haha.

Great job, you must be sooo happy :)

Katepoo, I can totally understand wanting someone to notice your accomplishments.

CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!

I have pictures of myself so I will always have a record of where I was. I am working on a pictorial collage to remind me as well.

I am going to alter most of the clothing I decided to keep this week so that I have something to wear besides work out gear, lol.

Thats so great! You must be so proud!

I have to admit to being proud of this accomplishment. Not just because my clothing size is smaller but because I feel better and I am confident I am on my way to a healthier life.

Woo hoo ... Congratulations!....

Amazing feeling in the world~.... keep it up.... Congratulations to you both!

Thank you so very much for taking the time to congratulate us. Here's hoping a lifetime of health is yours!
