I have this big problem with overeating desserts. I can never stop at one cake slice or one bowl of ice cream. I'm amazed how I'm not obese compared to how I binge on sugared up foods. I have tried avoiding them or cutting them out on my own--with no luck. I was thinking maybe we could offer tips and advice to each other. Or come post when we know the chocolate cake in the fridge from yesterday is bothering us.... What do ya think?

I know exactly what you mean.  What I do sometimes when that becomes a problem is go and just eat a spoonfull of the ice cream and get the heck out of the house until the urge goes away.  I have to often talk myself out of eating any at all..Most of the time I don't listen.

I have tried that but I end up going for another spoonful then another till I finish half the carton.

Trust me, I've done that too....If you think you have a sweet tooth, you ought to see mine.  Ice cream is my biggest problem.  I won't keep much at home, just some for the kids.  However, going by Sonic usually kills me.

That's not a problem for me since I don't eat out but still, its hard.

I guess NOBODY suffers from sweet cravings then??

Surprised

avoid buying them... i guess this is the best way preventing u from those desserts~but can you do it?

I'd say try to avoid buying them at all - but if you have to (for example, for other family members) try and sort of...hide them. I currently have three different flavours of ice-cream in the house, but they are hidden under bags of frozen veggies in my freezer, so I often tend to forget about them. If I don't SEE it, I am less likely to think about it and crave it.

Also, this one's more common sense, but try and switch to a healthier option, like frozen yogurt, so even if you do have an extra cup or something, you don't have to totally beat yourself up over it.

You're right, other family members do love them. I like the veggie thing since if I see them I might think "i should be eating that instead" lol.

& I do love frozen yogurt.

:)

I have found that these ice cream sandwiches Skinny Cow suffice my cravings. They only have like 110 calories and 1.5 g of fat. Try also just giving yourself 1 day a week that you can splurge a little bit but try harder to stay on track the rest of the week. Hope that helps.

I <3 Skinny Cow!! I like their mini-fudge bars, 50 calories and satisfies a nice sweet craving!! I don't have one every day, but when I feel like it, I'll indulge and have 1 of those instead of the Haagan Daas bars that my dad and brother like :)

Whoa...I have been there...and I'm still there : - o

At the commissary today, I found they had these tiny ice creams. It is an actual serving and it comes with a tiny spoon. Maybe that might help and if you eat the whole thing you don't have to feel guilty. Also, I just cleaned out my house of all the bad foods. I hate wasting money and I won't go to the store for one thing so that may help too! From what I read, it said if you cut them out entirely, you will binge even more cause you are denying what you want and you will crave it 100x's more...
