Swelling and excercise?
Alright, before I begin, I'll give you some background information on my problem.
A few years ago, I was in a car accident and had broken my thigh bone right above my knee. I had to have surgery to put in a metal plate, but earlier this year I decided to get it removed. Having the plate in caused major swelling in my thigh and knee area, and made things difficult when I'd walk. Although not much has changed since I got the metal plate removed, I can still do light (but ONLY light) excercise. I can't bend my leg to the full degree its supposed to, and in physical therapy they neglected to teach me how to run when they were teaching me how to walk again, so I can't use the treadmill except for walking.
While I have found a way around these obstacles, I still have one major problem, which is the fact that my leg still swells up constantly. The more weight I lose, the more noticeable it is in comparison to my normal leg. I find it embarrassing, and I really don't want it to get worse when I get to my goal weight.
Is there anyway I can make the swelling go down? Any excercises, anything? Would doing leg strength training excercises help at all?
