Switching from loosing to maintaining...

Quote  |  Reply

okay, i know i'm going to be told off for this, but for the last 2 months i've been eating around 600 calories a day. And i'm beginning to understand the effect this may be having on my body, and was wondering, is it possible to bump up your calories to 1200 without gaining weight whilst your body adjusts?

I don't really have time to gain a little weight at to loose it again the right way, as my dance concert is in three weeks, and i have schoolies during this time ( don't know if american's have schoolies, but basically all graduating students basically go to get smashed for a week - hence no healthy food there)

So yeah, my question is will i most likely gain a little weight if i adjust my calories from 600 to 1200?

:(

I am not going to preach to you on this because I do think you know what you are doing is NOT good.

Your body is in starvation mode, this means that it is going to hold onto any tiny little bit of fat that it can to store it as energy. You need to up your caloric intake, do not do this all at once work your way up to it over several days. You will find that you will actually keep the weight off and have a lot more energy if you eat more good clean food.

You are very close to falling into a very very very bad cycle if you keep eating the you are.

Ditto for the telling off stuff, but add to that the admission that I was doing the same thing for a while.

I did not really intend to eat so little, but just kept cutting back more and more to keep the weight coming off, but finally it started going up despite the low cals.

So I bit the bullet and started eating more (1200 - 1500 cal) and after a week, the weight started to go down again anyway! Not spectacularly but a 1 or 2 a week.

So don't worry, commit a week to raising the cals. to a normal level and it should even out again.

For how long did you gain weight and how fast did you start loosing again doug8120?
