Hello to all. I am kind of new here. I have tried to watch my calories before and then stopped. But I have been reading all the posts lately and thought I would try to get some help.
I have been doing weight watchers for the past 3 months and lost 10 pounds, but would like to lose 10 more pounds. I am currenlty 5'4" and 135lbs. I walk/run 5-6 times a week and burn about 400-500 calories each time. ( I bought a Polar F6 watch, so I know exactly how many calories are burned. I love it.) I also do some abs workout every day also. I don't do a whole lot of weight lifting. Anyways, I am wondering if I am getting into the starvation mode. I hope not, but I haven't really lost any weight for about 3 weeks. Yesterday, my calories consumed was 1400 calories and my walking/running calories were 450, plus my 1800 calories that are given to me. I would have to say that I had to eat some before going to bed to get the the 1400 mark. Otherwise I would have had 1000 calories.
So here is the question, am I doing too little to lose the weight or what? I don't eat much junk. I get a lot of my calories from fruits and vegetables. I just can't seem to eat a whole lot more because I am afraid of gaining the weight. So I really try to watch what I eat. I was on the flex plan with weight watchers and when I log in what I have eaten for the day with them, I go over my points, but on this site, I am way under my calories. I know I probably shouldn't do both sites, but I have been trying to lose since April and I haven't lost as much as I would have liked.
Somebody please help. Thank you very much.

Go ahead and do both sites, it can't hurt in my opinion...if it drives you nuts, just go with your favorite. Personally, I'd say screw the point system and go with the calories while attempting to maintain a good ratio of fat/carbs/protein and get enough fiber.
1. Is it possible that you're at your weight?
2. Is it possible that you're losing just very slowly?
3. Have you tried adding fiber to your diet...Fiber One and Kashi Go Lean are reasonably good tasting cereals with lots of fiber.
4. How much weight lifting are you doing? As you're so close to your goal, you might have to be satisified with toning up rather than losing more pounds.

I guess I could be at my weight, but I would rather lose the 10 more pounds.
I do get a lot of fiber in my diet. I eat the Kashi cereal as well as the Fiber one bars, plus the fruits and veges.
I am not doing any weight lifting. I don't like it, but I guess I could. People around me tell me that I look like I do the weight lifting.
My analysis on this web site is an A about every day, if that is any help.
Thank you

if you run aren't you gaining muscles? maybe you are getting slimmer but the weight hasnt really changed....
I was reading this website... www.skwigg.com
She's a female bodybuilder. That doesn't appeal to me, but she is funny, and I like reading her blogs. She also has some good things to say about nutrition and exercise.
Anyway, she said she did a Body-For-Life challenge, and only changed 2 pounds in 12 weeks. But she LOOKS different.
Maybe that's you... you are strong and healthy, but won't have a scale number that makes you seem as thin as you really are...
Just a thought!!

Former WW member, here. I, too, have noticed how when i was WW, i lost sooo much faster than I am simply counting calories, and when I do the point system, I am way over my points with my current plan, even though I'm eating perfecly well according to this site. My assessment is that WW isn't just calories; it's fat and fiber, too. Everything you eat is based on those three things, and in that way, a calorie is NOT just a calorie. However, I am losing on CC, and it's easier for me to just look at calories rather than whipping out my WW calculator and sliding scale all the time. You're on the right path, it's just a different one.
In my POV the WW system is too arbitrary and wont go very far in retraining your bad habits into good ones. I beleive CC puts more power in the hands of the dieter, for lack of a better word. A major part of weight loss is self-awarness and therefore self-control. CC forces your to face your habits and make the right changes totally on your own through analysis, research and experimentation. I like that aspect and it integrates well into my personality.
