Tailgating...

Quote  |  Reply
This weekend I am going to homecoming at my alma mater (yay!).

So that will definitely involve a big day of drinking: tailgating before the big football game, and then going to the bars at night.

I'm really nervous to be drinking that much! I don't want to gain any weight. I'll be sticking to light beer and diet and rum/vodka as best I can. I will also try to eat healthy as well, but who knows once I start drinking...

Should I cut back on calories this week so I essentially save some for Saturday? Or should I just keep them the same, go out and have a good time on Saturday, then get right back on track on Sunday?

Thanks!

It's 1 day.

You can't gain back everything you lost in 1 day.

I always feel skinny after drinking and drop a few pounds. I assume from the dehydration or the fact that i was dancing my ass off for four hours or so?

I say go out have a good time, then get back on track.

I have been having this same problem every Saturday!!! I have mostly opted out of drinking. Last weekend I just had one, others only a few... it's just easier that way. I tried cutting down on calories during the week to make up for a heavy day of tailgating, but I decided it just wasn't worth it. I still have a great time even though I'm sober :)

This is a one shot deal for you, though! If you think you're going to miss out on the fun then just do it all in moderation and enjoy every minute.

I usually opt out of drinking as well!! Sometimes I go months without having a drink. So now my basic guidelines are only drinking for special occasions, and this counts as one. :)

I always wonder how some of my friends can drink like every weekend and not gain weight.. grr. I just couldn't do it (nor would I want to).

i've read that alcohol actually speeds up the metabolism opposed to slowing it down. it's what the alcohol is in that creates the beer belly :)

have fun for the day! dont sweat the small stuff. run around and goof off. just make sure its all safe fun..

keep us posted how you did! but don't starve yourself over the week to enjoy a few drinks on the weekend.

PS: You may want to exercise the morning of the party, that way you have more wiggle room.
