Taking it too far - what would you never do?
I was sitting eating my lunch, which I'd carefully ordered at the college deli, when a thought occurred to me. Are there people out there who take this so seriously that they log even the calories transferred by utensils? I mean, the knife that was used to cut my sandwich had also cut lots of other things, and even though it was wiped off, I could see slight smears of things on the edges. I think that's something I could never do. Imagine the possible variations!
um, is that even possible?
That's just nuts...I don't count calories in sugarless gum, but I know a lot of people that do.

Most people who have been here for a bit have seen the semen thread.. (someone wanted to know how many calories in each *cough* serving)
The utensil thing seems a bit much. Unless it was dipped in oil I wouldn't worry about it. And then.. why not just wipe the knife off with a napkin first.
This thing is that we just estimate the calories with ALL food. Even prepackaged food can vary in calories up to 20% by law (however, the average count for that food does have to be accurate). But the point is.. there is no point in logging minuscule calories because everything is just an estimate anyway. ;)
However I do log sugar free gum.. 5 calories for two pieces. xD; Also diet soda.. (2 calories for one of those medium sized bottles) but this is more for my reference than worrying about calories.
What about when I lick the drip off the rim of the maple syrup bottle after pouring? Should I be counting this? ![]()
that's it ! it's that damn lip gloss that's kept me at my plateau for a month ! NO MORE SHINEY LIPS FOR ME UNTIL THE WEIGHT IS GONE !!!
you guys, the OP wasn't saying shed do that-she's just asking how far WE (members on CC how far we'd possibly take calorie counting.
Precisely! :) I hadn't considered the possibility of people thinking of logging lip gloss, or, y'know.. servings of other stuff, so perhaps I'm not as crazy as I thought!

The lip gloss comment is kind of a running gag in reference to a thread a while back about a user who was concerned about the calories in her flavored lip gloss. Sorry... ;)
Haha I was going to post the same thing when I read the first post!
what about licking envelopes?...

*blushes* when my ED was quite bad I used to worry about that. I remember trying t look it up, and ended up just counting the whole thing as 30 cal (I always rounded up)
Ok that was totally funny until you guys ruined with serious stuff ![]()
I remember watching an episode of dr. phil where he interviewed this woman who was anorexic. She told him that she wouldn't brush her teeth because she was afraid of the calories in the toothpaste, and she wouldn't shower often, because she was afraid her body would absorb the salt in the water and cause her to be bloated.... it was kinda funny, but very very sad.
