I am taking iron tablets and I am always hungry.
I am on iron tablets, daily once a day( from past 3 weeks), my pharmacist suggested me to take daily before going to bed( preferably on a empty stomach i,e. 2-3 hrs. after dinner), well the problem is daily i m getting up at 4 or 5 in the morning because of hunger and through out the day i m ravenously hunger, i m constantly looking for things to eat, i m having a real hard time controlling myself, today i just lost control and ended up eating a candy bar.
well, i was just wondering is it the sight effect of iron tablets, because i never had any trouble with hunger, shall i consult my doctor and ask him to change tablets?Any help, suggestion or advice will be greatly appreciated.
I m 30 yrs. old female, my height is 5 feet 5 inches and my weight is 115 lb.( i have checked with my doctor he is fine with my weight) i have been maintaining since August, daily i walk for 30 min.I have stopped counting calories, i always try my level best to eat healthy balance food, as i said before i never faced the problem of hunger before it has started since i started the medicine, i think i m having problem with acidity because i can feel the heart-burn, all these things started after i started this medicine.
I think we would have to know a whole lot more, like your stats, exercise level, what amount of calories you are eating, etc.
Usually if I am hungry enough to wake up, that says something about my diet plan, and it isn't a good thing.
I find it odd that he would tell you to take it on an empty stomach, as it upsets most people. Do you take an acid reduction tablet or anything? Those two interacting can cause an odd stomach feeling that is sort of like hunger. I take a daily slow release tablet, and it hasn't affected myeating thou. Do you also take a regular multivitamin? If you don't, try adding that. And like Tina said, if you aren't logging maybe you should try for a while, you might not be eating enough.
Noy sure if its true, but my dad told me that iron tablets raise metabolism. Maybe you should google some info on that?
