Talk me out of going over to the vending machine!!!!!

Quote  |  Reply

This is my problem.

Its 7pm and I'm at work.  I'm here for another 2 hours.  I'm alone...... well just me and the enormous vending machine that is 50 feet away.  GAH!

I'm under my calories today (maybe at 1000 so far) so in my head I'm reasoning with myself why it would be ok to get a chocolate bar.

But its not alright.  If its alright today - then I will let it be ok tomorrow and the next day. And I really need to get them to move the vending machine off this floor.

You've already made it this far in the day! Keep it up, drink some water and get some fulfilling healthy food when you leave!  You've done so well already today, you can last 2 more hours!

You need a plan of attack.  You can choose to buy some power/protein bars, fruit, veggies and dip to work.

I allow myself one treat a night at work, it comes to about 300 calories and fits into my meal plan.  If I want anything else I need to bring it to work because I don't usually eat processed foods and everything that is offered is processed.

dont do it!!!!

just imagine how good its gonna feel when u leave work and know youve beat that vending machine!! Laughing

Thanks!

I think tonight I can resist.  I seriously am going to ask them to lock that room at 6pm.  I can't handle sitting  next to it.  I must have the worst will power ever.

You don't have the worse willpower ever.  They design the machines so that they are enticing and look to good to pass up.

Oh please, my will power is like 10 times worse than yours. At my office we have an HONOR system box. If I don't have a dollar, I can still get a candy bar and just pay it back later! I hate that thing.

I should  take my change home - so it doesn't sit there tempting me.  When I get lunch I use a bill and then throw the change in my drawer for whatever... and my company is 'so nice' and puts everything in the vending for 70% off!

DAMN THEM!  lol

Wow...I would be tempted too at 70% off LOL

Pop tarts and hershey bars are the reason I keep my own snack drawer at work.  It's all I can do most days to pass up that yummy badness.  You can resist--the next time you've got to work late, plan a not-so-bad snack, but something that is still satisfying.  I like low-fat cheese, myself.

give yourself some credit and bring some good stuff with you for tomorrow that would be better snack alternatives. extremes lead to extremes. i think that if you completely deprive yourself of what you crave then you will "over partake" in it later. it took you a long time to get where you are - changes don't happen overnight. take a deep breath. take a drink of water. wait 10 minutes. if the urge doesn't go away - pick what you believe is the best nutrition-wise based on your current level of education and eat it.

my problem - is that if it sounds good - or if it smells good - i'll want to eat it too. like right now - my 9 year old son is sitting next to me with a piece of cheese and some bread. that sounds good ! i am not hungry - i am not bored - it just smells good - it looks good - i want to eat it!!!

ALWAYS! have good alternatives - good options - so if you MUST eat - you can without guilt.

Thumbs up to me - I did it!!!!  :)
And I even managed to not have some of my husbands chips when we were watching the movie last night.

I am on day 3 of a new me getting back on track.  I really honestly find that logging my food and being here for support keeps me on track.

Thanks guys

Yea! Congrats, it always feels better to pass something bad up than it does to actually consume it!

Now I need you to send me some of that will power to stay away from the free SF hot cocoa we have at work!
