Do you talk to your pets?

Quote  |  Reply

My cats talk back sometimes. In fact, talking to my cat since he was a kitten has made him a very chatty individual. My fish never responds, though, he always just makes that face like he's mocking me.

Oh yes.  Yes, I do.

I taught my dog to say 'maaamaaa' ... he sounds like Chewbacca ...heehee.  Love my doggie!

Smile

oh yes.  walk into the door of the apartment, the cat meets me there:

"oh, hello pretty.  did you have a good day?  yes, we'll get you dinner soon.  yeah.  aww, good girl."

it's ridiculous.

I always talk to my dog!  I never thought I would be one of "those" people, seeing as I've never been a dog person and only have her because she was a gift from an ex.

But I absolutely adore her!  She's a 5 lb, 2 year old, all-white Shih Tzu named Midge.  I call her my "baby girl",  she loves to be held, and to me she's almost like a child - she gets into things, knows when she's done something bad, and is always begging for attention!

I talk to her, hold her, and "put her to bed" at night - which is actually the bathroom, but it is quite ridiculous!

In fact, I'm slightly embarrassed that I just admitted all of that to you... huh... ;)

Yes, and they talk back.

I talk to my dog all the time and being my best friend she is the only living being on this planet who knows my inner most secrets....I am so pleased she only speaks doggie :D

envy is obsessed with water...so she sits outside the shower waiting for me to get out so she can play in the remaining water.

ANYWAYS.  guess who opens the curtain mid shower to say hi to the cat more often than not?

Conversations with my cats:

Me: Meh? Meh?

Lazybutt: Meh Meh!

Me:  MIS-ta Naughtypants!  Why you so full of naughtiness?

Big Sexy: Reeeeaaaaawr (translation = gimme some food or your lamp hits the floor)

I always talk to my pets.

Does anyone else have funny nick names for their animals? I have all sorts of names, besides his actual name that I call him. The weirdest one is Captain Poopy Pants ... lol ... my dog has a sensitive stomach and farts a lot. We've even shortened it to Pooper and Poops  Embarassed

I talk to my dog all the time, and I used to sing to my hamsters, they seemed to find amusement in it. My dog is a good listener, he'll sit there or stand there with his ears all out and turning his head side to side as I talk to him. It's great. He also knows some portuguese.

I call my dog sweet pea and beag the most as nicknames. Others include Chuck, Charles, Cha-cha, and Chucky (his name is Charlie).

I always talk to my dog. But he ignores me. And I know he ignores me because when I call his name he won't look at me sometimes. But if I mention food AND his name, he looks at me. He doesn't like hugs though. He freaks out when you hug him and looks at me like, "WHO SAID YOU COULD TOUCH ME?!" He's a little spoiled. And kinda overweight.

My fish don't talk back either. Sometimes I have to introduce myself to them twice a week so they remember who I am. They do let me pet them though. Thats kind of fun, but I don't recommend petting your fish if you're squeamish. They're kinda slimy and they like to nibble on my finger. It doesn't hurt, it just tickles.

I think I'm a very lonely individual.

I had a goldfish I used to pet. :D His name was Creme, he was the best. He made bubbles, and it was comforting to listen to as I went to sleep (he was in my room), in the mornings he would have the entire top of the tank covered in bubbles.

I have like five goldfish. I collect them, haha. I had a goldfish that slept upside down. It was clearly a problem, but it was still kinda funny. He died a few months later but he did live a happy life.

I have a two year old goldfish. He's kinda big and his eyes are falling off his face cuz he has those big googly eyes.

of course i talk to them. I ask how thier day was when i get home and what did they do, i talk to them about what i am going to do, what we should do for the day, sometimes i just say things like.. 'who's my duddle bug', or 'who's the pretty princess'... sometimes i yell things like 'we dont do that in this house'  often they respond, and carry on conversations with me.

Lol SLO, I do the same thing in the shower.  Although mine do not have the same water fetish as Envy.

Hell yeah. And she responds, too. I swear she is half human.

My goldfish was a bubble-eyed fish. He kinda reminded me of a hammerhead shark...

Fish are awesome. I play like every single fish game on facebook.

haha I do. When she doesn't listen I have to yell at her in Korean before she'll do what I want. It was hard when I first adopted her because she didn't know any commands in English... just Korean so I had to speak only Korean to her for the longest time which I'm sure looked funny... walking down the street and the white girl yelling at the dog in Korean since no other foreigners live where I am, just Koreans.

How do you NOT!?!?! :) Yes, I believe they NEED to be talked to-though they may not be able to "speak" they understand more than I think we will ever know. My horses all respond to verbal commands (walk on, stand, foreward, in, out, trot, canter, stand.....etc.) and i talk CONSTANTLY around them:D

Also, I talk to my dogs, they often can learn to understand more than single commands-even sentances, or multiple commans in sequence. They talk back at times also! My cats talk back ALL the time-they dont especially understand commands, but they DO like to chat:D Even my chinchillas understand words-"no", "come" and his name "Icee". gerbils............they dont really understand, but when I DO talk to them, or play my violin, they come out and stand stock still and listen!!!

Take your time and TEACH your pets-dont expect them to udnerstand you if you havent taught them. But they CAN be taught-treat them like you woulda baby-with clarity and patience!!!!

I don't really talk to the dog (our dog is an evil little.... well, I never have anything nice to say to her, so I don't say much at all), but I talk to my cats all the time. Their names are Cookie and Ayla and I'm always saying hi to them ... "Hi Miss Ayla, Hi Cookie Monster"... usually when I talk, they'll talk back... and Ayla gets mad at me when I don't let her in the bathroom whenever I'm in there... she loves the tub. I'll turn the faucet on for a second so it drips for her so she can drink.
