Ok, I'm sorry about the subject but here is the thing, I have been absolutely elated with my progress on this website. I am 43 y/o, I'm 5'2" and weigh 133 right now.  I'm down from 142 which took me a long time to lose (quit smoking weight) and calorie-count is the reason.  I've been exercising for the past 2 weeks but until then I just reduced my calorie intake which is 1200 per day.  In the old days I was consuming around 2000 or so per day.  I usually ate pretty well for various health reasons, one of which is digestive problems.  As long as I ate plenty of fruits and veggies as well as a bowl of high fiber cereal in the A.M. my gut was fine.

Ever since I have dropped the amount I eat per day I do not poop enough, used to be every a.m.  It's not a healthy poop like it used to be.  I admit, there is no pain which makes me think it's not a medical problem. If I feel any symptoms (diverticulosis) I drink some prune juice and I'm fine.  I've started eating the highfiber cereal again but have not seen much improvement.

Does anyone else have this issue?  If you don't mind, can you losers (weight losers :) please let me know if you experienced the same thing?

.... and since you brought it up....  I too have a poo question!

I am on presciption iron - plain ol ferrous sulfate, it used to be the fancy stuff but it didnt work - so I get 1300 grams of iron a day.... they slap a consipation warning on the 150 gram pills so ... ugh dare I say more?  I am not in pain either but it isnt happening daily, could that be part of my stall too not just low calories?  I know hopeful thinking.  Wishing I was full of sh** LMAO  Come on it's a uncomfortable subject, take it with humour :)
Also, I bought epsom salts bintzp, it was reccomeded to me before from another forum, I tried to drink the water with it in it and nearly gagged.  I dont see how anyone gets that stuff down!  you know there is that new fat sub that is supposed to give you fiber called ztrim, I really want to get some of that stuff :)
Me me me. I don't pop but maybe once every 5 days. I am on a very strict diet and some say I am using everything I take it. I again do not have any pain but it just does not seem normal. I have recently tried to eat more brocolli and it seems to help a little. I also eat prunes and fiber 1 extra fiber. good luck. Let me know if you find a cure.

I'm glad someone brought this up!  I used to be a morning pooper, religiously, what my husband and I would call the "AM BM".  But since starting cc sometimes I go days without, and when I do it is a different consistency and not very much.  I'm not in pain, just confused. . .
I've had the same problem, my doctor advised me to eat a serving of yogourt a day with active bacterial culture.

Within a week my poops were starting to be more frequent ans softer and in a month I was regular again, although I still go alot more than I used to.. I attribute it to the fibre.
You all are hilarious!  Thank you for joining in on this crappy subject.  I should have mentioned that I take a probiotic suppliment that contains the ingredients (good bacteria) that the yogurt has.  I don't eat a lot of yogurt because it has so much sugar in it.  I'm going to try adding that in to my diet, like adding fiber cereal to the yogurt for the morning meal.

ravenlark?  How many cals do you eat a day?

AM BM LMAO!!
So I'm not the only one? Awesome!

Ok, here is something that really works.  It is a tea called Kleri-tea.  You can find it on the website www.drnatura.com website. Seriously, I have been constipated my entire life.  I have had numerous scope procedures to find the cause and no one knows. I drink enough water, I eat lots of fiber....it just doesn't happen for me. If I didn't drink this tea, I would have to use suppostories and enemas on a fairly regular basis.

Kleri-tea is a lifesaver.
Did you use their Colonix and Toxinout program first and then drink the tea?
i totally have this problem!! and i eat yogurt every single day and eat a lot lof fiber. But i am still attempting to up my fiber intake. I bought Psyllium Husks, which have 4.5 g per tablespoon. I put it in my morning smoothie and have been trying to have it with some crystal light at night (the problem is, it doesn't dissolve, so it can be tough sometimes...) BUT, it is tasteless. so i'm going to keep trying that and will let you know how it goes!!!
Psyllium husks.  Seriously, they're nasty going down, but they really plump up the poo and get it moving.  I take a tablespoon every morning and have no more troubles with no poo, or poo that is small and hard.  It's really amazing stuff.
there is a product called aloe-lax, it is derived from the latex or the gell that is left inside the leaf after the regular gell is removed and the leaf dries.

It works extremely well, but it can only be used for short periods, never more than 10 days. Start with the smallest possible dose.

Also make sure you are eating lots of fiber, especially whole grains, fruit and veggies.

mineral oil can also help.

Also vitamin c can improve iron absorbtion and it can also have a laxitive effect in higher does.
I'm maintaining, so I average about 1600-1800 during the week, and about 2000 on weekends so I can have a slice or two of pizza if I want to.

I'm still trying to be health concious about my food, and I'm finding it very difficult to eat at my maintenance level.  I 've been on diet mode for so long I'm terrified of going back to my old eating habits.

Anyway, that has nothing to to with poop...
When I quit smoking I got "quitstipation" big time and ended up in the hospital on 2 occassions.  The best thing that I found after months of pain 100's of tests and 1000's of dollars -  are high doses of vitamin C and "Colon Clenz" which is a vitamin supplement found at walmart.  I take 2 at night if I start getting "stopped up".  I've done prescription laxatives and lots of other homeopathic and other things but the Colon Clenz is the most reliable.

Also doing crunches does wonders.  I guess cuz it works the ab muscles to work the peristalsis gets the colon up and running again.  One dr said to drink 3 oz of water for every gram of fiber in addition to the 48 oz you should drink.  I also have to consume at least 45 grams of fiber a day.  Fiber supplements do not work.  I eat lots of fruit veggies and whole grains.  Another dr also said walk for 10 minutes after each meal.
LMAO and I though there was going to be some more on poop!  :D
What kind of poopy are we talking about?

There are lincoln logs, phantom poopies, exploding in every direction poopies, harder than a rock poopie, poopie that feels like you are laying an osterage egg and goinig to burst a vein in your head poopie....... oh, don't forget the empty the entire public bathroom do to the nausous gas and smell poopie.

Mine seems to be pretty regular, but I have been that way ever since I was a teen. Sometimes I almost go too much if you ask me :0P
Hee. this thread is hilarious, although the problem is real.  I've found that eating about 20 almonds daily does the job. Plus, they're a nice little snack, complete with "good" fat.

Side note: I had colitis a few years ago, and for awhile, the main topic of conversation with family and friends was the condition and frequency, of my poo(s).  After awhile, you lose all shame!
I agree, I have lost all shame LOL Thanks for the tip on almonds I will try that :)  I cant wait till I stop the iron, I wont even begin to tell you the other weird poop effects it has!
does anyone else feel the "urge" when running. I am a beginer runner, since Nov., and it seems that I need to go after about a mile? I did see some stuff on the runner world UK version. Is it just me? Is there any way I will be able to do this 5k at the end of the month?
In cross country, 5k, it would be no big thing for someone to pee while they run.
My poo looked disgustingly green today.  I mean, you know, "the green type color of sea weeds that want to flow up to the top of the ocean but they are rooted onto the ocean floor" green.  It was weird, maybe because I've been using Activia lately.  I did a little research and said that poo contains blood (red) and bile (green)  and when mixed all together it makes brown?  I guess I excremated more bile than blood today. Hmm...  the poo didn't feel nutritious unlike days when I have plenty of fiber.  Okay, yeah just felt like this was a right place to poost...
