Quote  |  Reply

Lauren in San Diego here (5'11'').  I was up to almost 180 lbs at the end of last year and I lost about 10 pounds during Jan-Feb and then got lazy.  I need to get back on the wagon.  I think I weigh around 170 and I would like to be 150.  Weigh in on Fridays for me starting tomorrow.  I would love to chat with others who have similar stats and goals to stay motivated.  All my girlfriends are little petites, I need some amazon love!!

Let's look hot and healthy this summer!!!

Holy Hell 11mile run... weldone to you, I am doing great on the diet side but seriously get so lazy when it comes to exercise, I'm getting a little bit in each day but nothing too crazy and I used to be an exercise nut, i dont get it, I really have to start strenght training, it just doesnt come naturally to me at all! I didnt get a chance to weigh in this morning so will do it tomorrow instead, I'm pretty confident I've gone down this week, so unless I'm retaining water, i hope to see it on the scale! 130 is my goal for end of July which is looming, although I put it down as my ultimate goal, it really isnt, could stand to lose a couple more lbs. but in my heart I know what I truly need is toning and strenght training.. ugh.. im so lazy

Well, I wish weigh in was yesterday. I liked yesterday's weight better than todays. I'm 184.6 today. That's down 1.6 lbs from last Friday. But yesterday I was 184, which would have made it an even 2 lb loss.

When I first started I was loosing a steady 2 lbs a week. But it seems to be slowing down just a bit. But honestly, I've also gotten closer to my burn meter, too. I'm going to have to work on keeping it more at the 1000 calorie deficit when I can. If I work out enough I can do that but if I don't I can't because it would put me below 1200.

If I can count yesterday's weight and not today's, I've lost 20 lbs total!

Today is my oldest daughter's 34th birthday. She's coming to town with her family and we are having a party for her.

:( boo for me today too..i feel your pain!  I think I am trying too hard and may be restricting too much.  I am going to give a little in hopes that the weight will move again.  No loss but I am feeling accomplished with my weight training and cardio this last month...I feel stronger so hopefully that is a great trade off from the crappy scale...and my clothes are fitting nicely!  2 weeks until Hawaii vacation for me....I am stickin to it!

Have a fabulous week Tall ladies!

CB

Hi all--I'm new and excited to find support from other tall ladies like me.

I'm 5'10'' and currently weigh 160. I'm not sure my exact starting weight, but I've been up to around 170. My goal weight is 140, maybe 135 depending on how I feel and look. Since May I've been getting to the gym every day I go to work, and I've been trying my best to count calories (I try to stick to 1500 a day). I run and weight train and stretch, but exercising is getting kinda boring, and I'm stuck in a slump. Hopefully when I check the scale at the end of the week there'll be some kind of progress to keep me motivated.

Have a great weekend, I look forward to reading everyone's progress and telling you mine next week.

Hi ladies, well late weigh in this week, worth the wait though, i had a long lie in this morning, which was great... love those zzzs, weighed in at 129.4lbs, so iv achieved my initial goal.. but im still gonna try dropping a few more lbs, the way i see it if they're coming off then im not meant to be this weigt, however, i really do need to start exercising more,  more weights etc. does anyone know the healthy range for body fat %? if you could advise me that would be sweet, thanks for the help so far guys x

Hello all-

5'10   SW  178  CW  160.8   GW  150

Well not much to add to last weeks comments....going down sloooowly.  Getting a little frustrated.  Hoping it will all even out soon.  Still lifting weights and loving that.  Upped calories to 1500 to see if that will help.  I think I was low....all for now.  Keep up the good work everybody!

Hi guys,

22 year old female here, 5'11...right now 160 lbs, looking to get back to my 145-150 range again..got lazy, i had some binging problems these few months and it got worse...did weight watchers, other diet,s but need to get back to reality and this is the simplest thing yeah???

I used to exercise, but then binge after..Im so tired of avoiding social activities etc ...i used to be a social freak! lol

Whoops I always seem to forget to weigh in on Friday.  I did weigh myself.

I had a really stressful day on Friday..my boss got fired, I actually liked her and it was very sudden.  Everyone just walked around in a daze.  We have a small office, 10 employees, so we all took it really hard. Kim

I skipped the Friday weigh-in out of shame *cheeks blush*. Actually, I stayed at my Mom's for 4 days (shocking my family with my new, slimmer figure) and ate whatever, whenever. I wasn't accurately logging food so I guessed my average intake was over maintenance slightly. And the sodium, er, dang. It was a 4 day food party with a serious effect. Headache, bloating, nausia. I'll be happy if I never see another cheeto.

So when I returned last night (Sunday) I was up 7lbs(!) above what I was Thursday morning. I drank a lot of water yesterday and was releived to see 157 this morning (was maintaining at 155). Whew. Although I knew I couldn't have eaten enough to gain even 1 pound of fat, I still felt like a junk filled gluten and was so excited to remedy.

Today I excersised like a mad woman and continued to drink buckets of water. I also ate a very healthy balance of food, taking in about 1500 calories and under 800mg of sodium instead of my maintenance average of 2000. Not sure if it's a good plan, but I feel a lot better.

On August 1st (Friday) I am going to re-enter weight loss mode and see about getting down to 150 before September. Whatever my weight is on Friday will be my new mark. So tall ladies, I'm back in the game. Watch out Emberjem!

sidenote: I'm so glad that I tried maintenance out for a month and feel it was a great success. I'm hoping the break will also jump start the remainder of my weight-loss goals.

Have a great week everyone!

skookum, how did you eat such low sodium?  I am having a similar feeling right now, but the problem is I just don't know which foods are very low in sodium!  I don't ever track that, but I've noticed my MAJOR downfalls seem to be sugar!!! and sodium.  If I can get one under track I'll be happy!

To everyone else:  What do you do when ALL you want all day long is SUGAR!!??  I know when I eat a sugary breakfast I'm more apt to want it all day, but beyond that I don't know how to stop my cravings.  Yesterday I ate more sweets than real food, its baaaad!

Help me before I drown in a pool of sugar!

Hey Tall Ladies!

I am sorry to report>>I had a coke, handfull of strawberry twizzlers and micky d's fries (as I am a vegetarian:) this weekend. I didnt completly fall off the wagon. Later that day, I got on the trail and went twenty five miles. I tried to get my boyfriend in on the mix.>>but he didnt seem intersted<<SIGH!!>>He felt his time would be better used by going to the comic book store and then afterwards, going to my favorite desert shop>>hate him:)

<<I am still biking in to work everyday. I have lightened my load on my bookbag..Every Monday, I drive in with my weeks worth of clothes and leave them under my desk.  It totally made a difference this week so far.  I usually struggle going up several of the steep hills on my path and today>>Its a piece of cake with my adjustments:) (hmmmm cake!)

I stil havent gotten up the courage to get a scale I am still working on that(surely I will get there>>hopefully I will get there(fingers crossed) I guess I just dont want to be discouraged>>I know the numbers on the scale dont really tell the full story (inches lost, general feeling of oneself etc)

dplatzer: this is gonna sound kinda gross but it works for me whenever I want yummy sweet treats>>I down a tablespoon of honey and eat a piece of fruit (apple, or some canteloupe) usually does the trick for me.>>Let me know if it does the trick for you too:) Also, its a mind over matter.>>I also sit in a room by myself (lights dimmed) and just meditate on what actions would best benefit me.  Good Luck:)

dplatzer--I've been having the same sugar- (mostly chocolate, that is) craving issues. So, my new breakfast fix has been half a cup of Fage 0% (thick, Greek) yogurt with a tablespoon of nutella mixed in. I throw in some fresh blueberries or any kind of fruit to, and the chocolate+sweet combo really hits the spot at around 200 calories. And it's healthy!

Fifth Miracle--I've also started biking to work--I equipped my bike with a rack and paniers (saddlebags, pretty much) and it makes lugging all my gym and work stuff a lot more tolerable. It's weird to ride with at first, but makes towing stuff a lot easier. www.nashbar.com has a lot of good stuff, if that's something you're interested in.

I'm down to 159, and the gym's getting tougher because I get real bored. Maybe if I can power through this week and throw in some long bike rides I'll get over it.

fifth & lovesrobots- thanks for the quick suggestions!  MMMmm I think the nutella & fage suggestion sounds especially yummy....especially with strawberries, my fav!

fifth-  good job on riding to work, that is really quite admirable, and you are also helping out the environment too!  I'm sure you will end up being pleasantly surprized when you finally get the motivation to step on that scale!

PS OMG (so much sodium!!)

Fat - 15.2% (13 grams)
Protein - 30.6% (60 grams)
Carbohydrates - 54.2% (106 grams)
Alcohol - 0.0%
Other - 0.0%

Daily Sodium Intake - 2,787 mg
Daily Sugar Intake - 41 grams
Daily Cholesterol Intake - 139 mg
Daily Saturated Fat Intake - 2 grams
Daily Fiber Intake - 16 gram

dplatzer- I've read alot about high Fructose corn syrup.  Eating foods with HFC in it will cause you to crave sugar throughout the day.  Most candy, pop, cereal, and processed fruit drinks have HFC. Unfortunately, many icecream flavors use HFC too.  The honey and fruit suggestion was right on, no HFC in the honey.

I finally decided that I am not going to allow Ice Cream in my house.  It is too much of a tempation and I buy the groceries--I control what gets put in the freezer! The kid and the hubby will have to go to DQ for their ice cream fix.  Kim

Happy 1st Friday folks!

Here's my stats for today:

Height 5'11

Age:28

SW 205 As July 11th when I started CC

Last Friday: 203.5

CW 202 As of this morning

GW 175

1.5 pound lost since last friday..woo hoo!. Good luck everybody with your weigh ins.

Happy first of August! Can you believe how fast this summer is going?

My stats for today:

SW (05/23/08) 205

CW (today) 181.2 (lost 3.4 lbs this week! - my average is still 2 lbs per week)

GW 150 (hopefully before Christmas)

k110465 We had to get ice cream out of our house, too. My husband just can't leave it alone. Now if we buy it, it's only in those little containers. I really believe that if something is too big a temptation it's better to just not have it around.

I'm still walking every day and doing occasional water aerobics. But a friend has invited me to join her at her gym. I'll start next week. I'm really looking forward to working out with weights more. I carry weights with me when I walk and that has really helped to tone my arms. But I'm ready to step it up a notch.

I'm down two sizes since I started. I'm now wearing a size 14 tall in jeans. Yeah! I bought myself a size 12 T to have around for when I can wear them. The smallest size in my closet has been a 14 T. I can't wait to wear a 12 T again. It's been years!

Have a great weekend everyone,

Beth

Hi Girls!

CW 158.5- FINALLY IN THE 150s!!!!

GW 140

I've been running 2 miles everyday, and hope to change that to 3 miles by the end of August. I'm so excited to be in the 150s. For a while I thought I was going to "give up" because I was staying at the same weight. I'm glad I persevered.

Friday! Yeah! Except I have to work tomorrow.

Regardless, W-e-i-g-h i-n! And my first day back in weight loss mode.

I ate a bit less this week (1700-2000 instead of the 2000-2200 I had gotten up to during my maintenance month), so actually started early. Had to confess. I'm recommending the maintenance month. I was stuck at 160 the entire month of June and am now down 7lbs from that. My body is such a rebel. I try to lose and get stuck. I try to maintain and I lose. Go figure.

5'11"

153 (as of this morning!). I was at 155 during my maintenance trial.

dplatzer: I've found a variety of low sodium foods. They are a little bland, but do the job.

  • Dry curd cottage cheese: I mix it into my (low sodium) soup
  • No more deli meat!
  • No salty snacks
  • Fresh Fruits and Vegitables only
  • And basic "low sodium" product selection (I rarely buy anything that has more than 100mg listed per serving)

It takes a lot of label reading, but once you get it down it's actually do-able. I've had the most difficult time keeping sodium below 2400mg until a couple weeks ago. Yesterday I was below 1000mg! I'm sooooo happy about it.

Hope everyone has a spendid day!

Congratulations to shookum and 2lilguys! that's great that you have reached your goals.

I have a question about sizes. For those of you around  5'11 or 6' weighing about 150, what size of jeans do you wear? I'm just curious how many sizes I still have to go before I reach my goal. I'm currently wearing a size 14T and weigh 181. My weight goal is 150.

Thanks,

Beth
