tall club 5'10'' and over ladies who want to lose 20-30 lbs... join me for weekly weigh-ins and motivation!!

Quote  |  Reply

Lauren in San Diego here (5'11'').  I was up to almost 180 lbs at the end of last year and I lost about 10 pounds during Jan-Feb and then got lazy.  I need to get back on the wagon.  I think I weigh around 170 and I would like to be 150.  Weigh in on Fridays for me starting tomorrow.  I would love to chat with others who have similar stats and goals to stay motivated.  All my girlfriends are little petites, I need some amazon love!!

Let's look hot and healthy this summer!!!

Congratulations to shookum and 2lilguys! that's great that you have reached your goals.

I have a question about sizes. For those of you around  5'11 or 6' weighing about 150, what size of jeans do you wear? I'm just curious how many sizes I still have to go before I reach my goal. I'm currently wearing a size 14T and weigh 181. My weight goal is 150.

Thanks,

Beth

Hey Beth, I don't really understand jean sizes. I'm 5'11" and around 155lbs. I have a size "8" stretch jeans that fit me perfectly and some size "10's" are too tight on my thighs.

It really seems to depend on your build and the brand of jeans (and what country you're in). A friend of mine is my height, weighs more, but wears a smaller size in jeans.

I also have to have "Long" length jeans. "Regular" length doesn't work and I can wear "Short" length as capris.

Friday already?  Well I copied Skookum....I upped my calories and I'm happy to report a 1.4 lb loss which is more than I've lost in weeks.  Finally!  And I'm in the 150s!!!!  SW 178  CW 159.4  GW 150 Yayhooooo I'm within 10 lbs of goal.  I am 2/3 the way thru my loss.  And doing a happy dance!  Have a great week.

I'm so glad it worked! Eating more is scary, but dang effective by-gollie. I think us tall ladies try to mimick the calorie intake of our smaller sisters...but we need more. I will never again go below 1600 to lose.

Emberjem! You made it to the 150's!!! Congrats Milady.

I'm sure popping up on this thread a lot lately. Foot in mouth But I just had to point something out.

Laallisonra, the creator of this lovely thread, does not know what it's become! Funny to think that back in April she started as my "twin" since we were both near 170 and had similar goals. Her goal was 150 and I'm within a few pounds of that now...just wondering how she's doing on her own and how she would have done if she'd stuck with us.

I'd sure like it if she came back so I could thank her for inviting me to this thread.

Skookum- I always think of her too when I come on here!  I've not had the success that you've had, but I've managed a bit of a loss and maintence of it at least!

I think its great how this thread has just kept on going, and going, and going.

Sidenote- I took a four-day weekend at the beach, and had tons of houseguests.  Didn't weigh-in on Friday, and also didn't count this weekend.  Ate off track, but kept up my exercise, so we will see on Friday!

shookum and 2lilguys Happy Monday (is there such a thing?:)

Well for you guys its xtra specail!! Congrats on your hard work and dedication>>>it has certainly paid off:) Hopefully, I will be able to join you guys in the winners circle;)

As for me, I still have a phobia of scales.>I was determined and went to Super-Walmart with the sole purpose of purchasing a scale...I got as far as picking one out and even put in my basket.>>but when I got in line to make the purchase...i punked out>>>and ran straight for the exit sliding doors>>>I know I am  dork.>Its alright, I'll get there EVENTUALLY:)  I am still on track...I am consuming 2K calories a day>>but for the past week or so I am at a deficeit of 200(avg 1800/day). I know its kinda low...but I just dont have the appetite I normally do...I have scoured the internet to figure out what that might be.>>to all you expierenced weight loss guys...can you tell me why??

Still getting my aerobic activity in biking into work and during the weekends.  It awesomme, cause I can now see definition in my legs and calves and they are far stronger than before!!  Oh and Expecting my period to show up anyday now...my strength during this time kinda decreases.  I''ll be gosh darn, my other half brought home icecream and fixings for sundae's...scallywag!! To remove the tempation I hoped on my bike for a ride.>>

Since I have reduced dramatically the amount of sodium in my diet...I am expiereincing far less bloating...dont need to wear my menstruation bras (2 cups larger than normal (yaowza right??!!) My cup fillith over

Later my Amazon chippies

Congrats on everyone's losses! I struggle to join the ranks again weekly....

I am soooooo frustrated.  You cut calories and watch what you eat and then you are told you eat too little...so you up them to the calculated number and then you still don't lose, you workout 5-6 times a week doing weights and cardio, etc... and live more healthfully than 1/2 of those you know and NO REAL changes in weight in 3 months!!!!

Just needed to get that out today....it is just one of those days!!!!!!! SORRY!

*phew* feeling a little better now...LOL :)

oh lord, what a week of being bold!! I was on total diet and exercise break last week, I was on holidays and although my eating wasnt crazy bad, my drinking was unbelievably mental, I was pretty active but would hardly call it exercise, it was worth it though, I had one good week of partying, am back to reality now though, boo hoo, back to being super good dietwise, will be very nervous weighing in this week, Can only hope I put on 2-3 lbs max, but we'll see..

Ok lets start from the beginning. What is a ususal day for you; Like whats your daily cal intake? Are you watching your salt? Your working out is GREAT!! FANTASTIC!! You sound like you have a lot of motivation and drive...keep that going, it will make a HUGE difference in your weight loss goals

I do cardio pretty much everyday...but weights too everyday too?? Man that a lot. I say give yourself a day or two off so your body can recoup. I guess it boils down to calorie intake and sodium...sodium will knock you down like a heavy weight boxer in the ringCry. Read your labels. Also are your drinking lots of water??

So remember, reduce the sodium, give your body a rest from all the excersise you've been doing as of late and keep that awesomme motivation going it makes all the diff (run-on sentence>>I know i know..:( Dont be soo hard on yourself kid, were all here to help!!

I also find that keeping a food journal of what I eat everyday. I know it sounds uber lame..but I'll tell ya it really makes you honest in this weight loss game>>> Let me know if that helps

Thanks:)Laughing

Not intending to gloat here or anything, but you guys are the ones that get it. Today my boyfriend's little sister (well, 18, not too little) asked if I lost "like, a lot of weight." I figure if that shorty like her can notice a change in this 5'10''-er, then I gotta be doing something right.

I figured that was a good reason to have a home-made snickerdoodle cookie. It was delicious.

Hi everyone :)

I'm new to this, this is my first post... I wanted to ask what your general calorie in-takes are? I'm aiming at 1600-1700 a day. I also work out about 5 times a week ( one of various medium-level fitness classes and 25 min of running at level 6). I also eat 6 "clean" meals a day. What's your advice on my plan so far? Is my deficit, calorie-intake at a good level?

I am 5'10'' and 172 lbs. I would like to drop to 145-150 by January.

Thanks for the help everyone :)

oh, and I'm 21 years old.... thanks!

Welcome Cabushaw! My stats are pretty similar to yours. I'm 5'10'', 23-years-old, started somewhere around 170, and am aiming for somewhere around 140 (give or take 5 pounds depending how I look and feel). I'm currently at 158. This is what I'm doing that's been working:

I've been at the gym 5-6 times a week, usually running and lifting. Also, my calorie intake is similar to yours, but some days it's a little lower because I don't find myself getting hungry as much. I try to never go under 1200. Try to incorporate some strength training into your workouts. It makes all the difference and you'll actually start to see definition sooner than you expect.

I hope that helps! Stick around and let us know how it goes; it's also helpful for me to have someone so similar to my body type to share progress with : )

Hi guys, just to check in, after my mad couple of days and nights off last week, I think my true weight is back, minus water weight etc. up 2lbs to 131 which I can handle, I will keep going trying to get back down and concentrate more on fitness too. I need some advice from anyone who has moved in with their boyfriend, how on earth can I keep myself so disciplined when he has all goodies and naughty snacks around, he has asked me to make him healthier which is the only saving grace I guess cos it means I can cook dinner and have it with salad while he has pasta or rice, but I was doing so well by just banning cookies from my cupboard altogether, I have requested he buy individually wrapped cookies and chocolate so I wont nibble and pick at things, any further advice for me?  thanks ladies x

Hi lovesrobots!

Thanks for the response! So for the lifting part of my routine I take a class at the gym twice a week called total body challenge. We do weight resistance on all major body groups. Nothing too intense. I think every 2 weeks I'll try heavier weights. I also do taebo and yogalattes. Would that be considered a type of lmuscle training? (because I'm usually pretty sore the next day). Or, do I need to be doing weights/dumbell type of resistance?

Also, Would you reccomend I drop my calorie intake?

Thanks for your advice,  it seems to be working for you very well for you!

Did someone mention a snickerdoodle cookie!!! Ag. You made me jealous. Good luck tomorrow ladies!

Yay, its the weekend, not so yay its weigh in time after a bad week last week.... well it wasnt overly bad it would seem as I'm stick around the 130lbs mark, I had been up all week, but i guess that was bloating or something, so its back to losing mode next week and serious time in the gym! Wish me luck, dentist appointment tomorrow and I hate them.. aghhh! good luck today everyone!!

Caroline.

Happy 1st Friday folks!

Hey ladies!

Congrats to all of you who lost or maintained this week!  Summer is quickly fading away so there is so much to squeeze in!

I am not weighing myself today for two reasons: (actually 3)

1. I forgot to before work, and I NEVER weigh-in after morning!

2. I went out last night and made terrible decisions in regards to food (but it was funnn!!)

3. its TTOM, starting TODAY, boo

Hope you all have a great weekend, I will probably do my weigh-in Monday instead, hopefully it will be motivation to not be naughty all weekend!

-Danielle

As Dplatzer mention, summer is flying to an end! I've been busy! Is this month nuts for anyone else?

Are you Amazon's tired of seeing my mug on this page? Heh, page 17 is mine!

Down a pound from last week..wooohoo.

About boys. So I ran into this really great guy that I've liked for a couple years but haven't pursued (because I'm a brick). And, um, he wants to take me out! Tall, dark, smart, accidently funny (I love that in a man), very handsome, and has really got it together. We'll call him Donatello. Do you guys want me to keep you posted?
