tall club 5'10'' and over ladies who want to lose 20-30 lbs... join me for weekly weigh-ins and motivation!!
Lauren in San Diego here (5'11''). I was up to almost 180 lbs at the end of last year and I lost about 10 pounds during Jan-Feb and then got lazy. I need to get back on the wagon. I think I weigh around 170 and I would like to be 150. Weigh in on Fridays for me starting tomorrow. I would love to chat with others who have similar stats and goals to stay motivated. All my girlfriends are little petites, I need some amazon love!!
Let's look hot and healthy this summer!!!
Back from vacation and took the week off on counting..although managed a few workouts and did somewhat watch my choices. Not too much damage I hope...but will wait until this Friday to see. ;)
Congrats to everyone on their great progress! I am back in the groove tomorrow focusing on healthy choices and back to my workouts. YEAH!!
I hope that you all have a fantastic week!

i have never counted cals before and am just unsure of what to even do. i am thinking about 1600 a day, even with running.i have low carbed and loss a tremendous amount (over 100lbs) but i went veggie about 4 plus years ago and have steadily put on about 20 pounds!!!
any thoughts would be GREATLY appreciated.
oh, and skootum(sp?) i agree with you! let that man step up and call you back....the ball is in his court now... let the games begin! lololol

btw..i am so discouraged about being as heavy as i am right now. i need help!
ohmgah....please excuse my pic! i will fix it ASAP~
Hey Ladies,
I am so excited to find a group in the same place as me. I have been trying to lose weight or maintain my whole life. I am the largest I have ever been right now, 5'10" at 162 ...
I used to weigh 145, ate well, exercised and felt great, so I know that goal is possible. I moved from NYC (walking city) to Los Angeles (car central!) I am trying so hard but have steadily gained weight.
I too work in a restaurant and find it hard being around food all the time and find myself eating late at night, which if I can change will be the determining factor to losing the weight and keeping it off!
Thanks and keep the updates coming! Let's do it!!!!
I like exclamation points ; )
Skookum: Thank god for Voicemail eh? Sounds like that worked out very well, good call!
Lalalindz and edybean: Welcome to the gang!! Good luck this week guys!
It literally never stops raining here, rain makes me just want to stay inside and go to bed! :(
okay....so i got my tits out of the box ! lol
i am doing 1600 cals today come hell or highwater!!!!
and speaking of what i am going to do...i am going to the gym NOW!
to get my run on so i can eat....
question for all...how many cals do you add to your daily intake if you excersice?
im thinking 200???? so, if i want to take in 1600 today but if i run 3 miles...i can take in 1800 .....but if i dont run, stick to 1600. does that sound right?
i refuse to eat at my emotions this week...lets just say today....today i refuse to use food as a tool to deal with my emotions! why is that so freaking hard????
Good luck everybody and happy counting!
E'dy
Congrats to everyone on their losses and maintenance. I'm holding steady at 157 this week (SW: 170, GW: 140ish, height: 5'10'') and am pretty happy with that. Only 7 more pounds to 150! People have been asking if I'm getting taller//wearing heels, so I think that means I'm making progress.
Also, someone at the gym called me "an inspiration" and then went on to introduce me to all of his friends (they're all older men, and I'm 23, so I tell everyone about my new old man club at the gym). Hopefully all these new people that I know will make me feel accountable enough to keep going to the gym every morning.
E'dy---that sounds about right, as far as what I do. The days I run 2 or 3 miles I get extra super-hungry, so I make sure I get some extra calories in (usually in protein--chicken, or apples with peanut butter).
Skookum, cute haircut (or new picture)!
I ate maintenance last week, so let's see if I can't cut down a few calories and drop a pound this week. Good luck everyone!

Happy Monday.
Confession; My photo is a FAKE! I used the make-over-matic on ivillage. Fun stuff. My real hair is blond and longer, but that's my face. I'm growing out layers and working on getting dye out but think I'll be ready for that cut next spring.
And, got a message from the boy! He's out of town for the next few weeks (he's a suit) but said he'd get a hold of me when he returned. Nice. I'm very okay with that. Unless somethings going on that's made for a TV Movie.
I'm scared to use my treadmill this morning! Scary thunderstorm! How many calories do you think are burned from flailing out of bed in pure terror from an extremely loud thunderclap right outside the window...the window that is open right by my slumbering head? Car alarms are going off all over the city. My roommate threw her curling iron across the room when she heard it. "CrackRumbleRumbleCRACKBOOM!" and then "Twack!" from the curling iron slamming the outside of my bedroom wall. What a way to wake up!
On that note: hope everyone has a great week! Mine has already been very interesting.
Thank you LOVESROBOTS...(cool handle btw!)
another question for all---what are some low calorie foods that you like that keep you full for a few hours..(or minutes!lol)
im doing 100 cal bag popcorn, apples, spoon of
PB2 peanut butter, that stuff is the bombdiggity! its powdered peanut butter with only 53.6 cals per T. you reconstitute it with water...and its just like the full fat pnut butter!
im just trying to think of some food that i could keep on hand that would help me out through the day.
thoughts?
You guys are sweet, I'm so glad I found this group.
emberjem- It's taken about a year, keeping in mind that when people are super obese the weight drops off FAST at first. I lost my first 20 lbs in 2 weeks...geez I wish it were that easy now!
skookum- It is definitely not an easy process to figure out exactly what my weight should be. My husband told me halfway through this process that 180 would be as small as he thinks I should go but clearly that's not the case and he can agree with me there now. This is all such new territory for me but I am thinking that 140's-150's might be a little too small for me as I'm almost 6'2" and 140 is as small as I can be and not be considered underweight by BMI calculators...not that they mean too terribly much, I know. I'm aiming for the 160-165 range possibly. Once I get there I'll probably change my mind again, what a pain!
carolally- do I have cheat days? LOL, do I ever! I think they've been key to my weight loss success. When I tried and failed at diets in the past I've felt deprived, cheated, and then lost hope. Now when I want to eat something fattening I tell myself that I'll save it for my cheat day. When my cheat day comes I don't look at packages, I don't count any calories, I give myself persmission and forgiveness and then when it's over I go back to eating the way I should and I feel like for me this is a really good long term way for ME to live. I usually do the cheat days along with events in which I know it'll be too tough to resist. I just had a 3-day cheat weekend while camping. I won't be weighing myself any time soon.
Now that I went on about myself I can talk about other people. Narcissus had nothing on me.
I love the bob, skookum! I've always wanted a really cute sleek bob but #1- I always had a double chin and bobs are like big neon arrows to double chins, it's gone now but #2- my hair is really thick and curly and I'd have to wrestle with it and a hot iron for hours a day to make it look like that. I'm so JEALOUS of your future hair!
edybean- peanut butter for only 54 calories you say?? Tell me more! Does it taste the same as the stuff I sneak and then don't log because I ate it standing up so it doesn't count?
I recently realized that brown rice is great for me. I can eat half a cup, feel hungry again about 5-10 minutes later, hungry as in my stomach is full on growling and I'm feeling despair. If I can hold out then by 15-20 minutes after eating it I suddenly feel really full and that feeling lasts for hours.

etahbear....listen to me!!! is IS SOOO GOOD! lol
go to http://www.bellplantation.com/
im telling you...its worth it!
i just mix it up in a coffee cup and eat it like that...it SO good!~
I use the PB2 peanut butter also! Good stuff. I like the fact I can take it w/ me anywhere. Just add water.
Welcome to the new faces this week. The girls here keep me pretty motivated. I'm sure they will be a big help to ya'll as well.
I'm still running- I cut back to only 4 times a week. I try to get close to 3 miles at a time. Some days it's a struggle- while on other days it doesn't seem too bad. Eh... that's the joy of working out.
Still holding on around 157 lbs. I've been here for 2 weeks or so. I think I may need to eat just a tad more to compensate for the running.
Have a good week everyone- See ya Friday!
Yeah! Our tribe continues to grow! Welcome new comers.
Edybean, you are about where Emberjem and I started not long ago. Your goal is completely realistic and will probably be obtained in no time at all (in hind-sight, it goes fast). We're both sitt'n pretty around 155lbs now. And you bet, this forum has the best ladies on it. Tall girls are in a league of their own.
Etabear! Eating peanut butter doesn't count because you're standing up! Super cute! And jealous of my future hair. Oh my garsh, I'm laughing at what you say! You're very clever with how you phrase things...naturally funny eh?
Okay, I've been posting waaaaay too much lately. I promise I have a life outside of cyberland.
skookum....thank you for the encouragement! i feel SOOO far away from my goal...but i know that its doable....while eating right, or further more, while eating period! btw---LOVE your hair...im going to hit 160 then get my whacked! its TOO long....but God, so simple and easy ! im such a ponytail girl.
i just have to keep telling myself that just because im losing doesnt mean i need to quit eating...its like i see the scale go down and i think "if i dont eat as much, ill lose even faster!" and that is not the truth, right? atleast its not healthy, and being in the medical field, i know this ! my mind plays tricks with me...im i alone in this?
happy counting again to everyone today...i love checking this thread....its great!
2lilguys--we seem like we're in the same boat. I am also 5'10'' and have been holding steady at 157 for a few weeks and try to get three or four 3-mile runs in a week. I was running more often, but my knees started crunching, and scaling back was probably a good idea.
I'm curious, how many calories do you usually tally for a day when you run? Since we're rockin' similar stats, I figure you'd be a good person to ask!
My PB2 is in the mail...I can't wait to try it.
I'm gonna have to check out this PB2 thing...Hmmm...
well I am only on day three and I have already made some good changes. And the good news is I think I started at a lower weight than I thought because after my first day I had lost 2 lbs!? Either way I am feeling positive. I ate a little more than my target yesterday, but all healthy, and took a rockstar spin class (holla!), i did weights and worked on my feet all night so I am pretty sure I did a good job burning it off!
Edybean - I think everyone;s minds play tricks on them in all sorts of crazy ways. Your body wants you to take care of it and undereating can do damage the way overeating can. You trying to find the 'just right' in you ; )
Peace out y'all!
Hi Everybody
If you hear me crying...snivel snivel...I fell off my bike last week and landed in course gravel Wed (13th)
...got some road rash on my left thigh..So I have kinda fallen off (pardon the pun...i couldnt help myself; I can see comedy through my painful experience;)
If you have never expierence falling off your bike...in front of folks>Not only is it embarrassing, but it just proves I have two left feet and a complete klutz...Its kinda crazy...it was morning rush, I was on the sidewalk and NO BODY pulled over to see if I was fine...CRAZY>>I was on the ground FACE down just in shock for what seems like forever...couldn't believe it..But through it all... I made it into work on time...go figure?:)
Luckily, I came out with my life and I fortunately wasn't in the flow of traffic (which could've been hella worse!). Oddly enough, before the accident, I was thinking to myself, man, I dont need to wear my helmet...Man, I really rethought that one:)![]()
I have been working on my fractile relaxation and visualizing myself riding on Monday...my rash is healing rather well given the accident happened last week (here's a tip...hopefully you NEVER have to use it...I use Manuka honey on my rash...its a specail type of honey that New Zealanders use; its totally homeopathic. )
Anywho, I really missed y'all>>I will be in touch..gotta go change my dressings now:)

Hey edgybean, I am in the same boat with you as well. I am around 180lbs and 5'11".
I have to agree with you, it seem like my goal is soo far away...but I keep on telling myself, anything worth having is worth working toward.
Cripes Ame! Well at least you can take solace in the fact there's no way you could be as klutzy as me. I've fallen off my bike in the middle on downtown more than once though I must say one time it's because a bolt fell off my clipless pedals and I was clamped down and unable to put my foot down when I stopped. The other time...well I'm a klutz. Also a couple months ago I wiped out on my husband's motorcycle in front of a cul de sac of old people watering their lawns. Of course the bike fell right onto my broken ankle. I'm a walking disaster.
I'm so sorry that you crashed and burned though, road rash is PAINFUL!
