tall club 5'10'' and over ladies who want to lose 20-30 lbs... join me for weekly weigh-ins and motivation!!
Lauren in San Diego here (5'11''). I was up to almost 180 lbs at the end of last year and I lost about 10 pounds during Jan-Feb and then got lazy. I need to get back on the wagon. I think I weigh around 170 and I would like to be 150. Weigh in on Fridays for me starting tomorrow. I would love to chat with others who have similar stats and goals to stay motivated. All my girlfriends are little petites, I need some amazon love!!
Let's look hot and healthy this summer!!!

It's finally starting to come off again. I know the next 10 lbs will be much slower than the last 23 and the final 10 even more difficult. But I've truly made this a lifestyle change so it feels sustainable (not like a diet). I'm loving the way my clothes are fitting, which I had sort of given up on. That helps the motivation.
And I have cheek bones again. Who knew???
Have a great weekend ![]()

I just have to make sure that I don't start telling myself that I'm not losing because I'm not supposed to. :) Easy to trick yourself sometimes!
I'm stuck again, but I'm still keeping the deficit and workouts in check. So maybe next week I'll see something different.

Late post sorry! No movement yet....still hovering on my plateau. Going to kick it up this week with the workouts in hopes of making something happen...got to stick with it!!!!!
Good luck this week!
Hi! My name is Danielle, Im 5'10'' and I am actually a little nervous to weigh myself, I think I am about 160, and I want to get down to 140 in the long term, about 150 hopefully by July? I am happy to hear other tall ladies are in the same dilemma as me!
I think I will do my weigh-ins on Mondays & Fridays. I started counting last Monday after visiting my former college roommate last wekeend. she's 5'8'' or so, and we were both about a size 6 in college. I am barely an 8 now and she was about a 2-4!!! I currently run about 3-4 times a week and dont do much other activity, do you think this is a big problem?
Dplatzer- Welcome to the group! I do think your exercise routine may need an adjustment. If you don't vary your exercise, your body gets used to it and doesn't burn as many calories. I would try some weight training and maybe a kickboxing or cardio class. Or maybe the elliptical at the gym?
I totally understand why you started to lose weight! For me it was when I met my soon to be sister in law, a size 2 short perfect Barbie doll. I knew it was time to do something. Sometimes other people are the best motivation!
Keep up the good work, and congratulations for taking the initiative to begin your healthy lifestyle!

Lauren,
Thanks for the encouragement, that was so nice of you! I finally decided to weigh myself today and it wasnt as bad as I thought- 157! I am trying to make it to 145, but I just don't know if I can! I read a few of your other posts, and I want to congradulate you on the success you have had! I have to ask you, have you been losing at a steady rate, or has it become easier (or more difficult) as the weight has come off? I've never really been "overweight" but I gained about 20 lbs throughout college and I've been out for a year now and its just been so tough to do. I would love to know your workout routine and other tips you have.
Thanks!
-Danielle
157 is pretty great for your height. Girls in their 20's are supposed to have a BMI between 21 and 23. Yours is 22.5 so you're in the right range.
Thanks so much for YOUR encouragement!!! College is when I gained a decent amount of weight too, then I gained a bit more after I got married. My weight loss overall has taken a stair step pattern. I would lose several pounds, then plateau for weeks (sometimes a month!!) then lose several pounds again. Now that I'm getting close to the end, it's easier because I'm more determined and I'm counting calories much more carefully. I know when I get to 10 pounds left, it may get hard to get the last few off. But overall, I'd say it has definitely been gradual, losing anywhere from a half pound to a pound per week.
My workout routine is anything but routine, and so are my eating habits. I've found if I keep my body guessing, it doesn't get used to any one eating pattern or exercise regime. I'm a member of the YMCA and take between 3 and 4 45-minute classes a week on my lunch break. I vary up which classes I take. This week, for example, I took body conditioning yesterday, kickboxing today, I'll take pilates tomorrow and latin dancing on Friday. So that's two strength/weight training classes and two cardio classes. Next week I'll pick a different combination. It's kind of nice, because you don't have to wonder if you're working all the right muscles. The instructor does it for you. Then on the weekend, I try and stay active as well.
Trying to stay out of a rut has helped me a lot, and I hope it helps you!! Once you see a few pounds fall off, and feel how nice your clothes fit, I know you'll have the motivation!!!
Keep me posted on how you're doing and let me know if I can help you at all. I look forward to being your weight again! :-)

Hello fellow tall women. Here's a question. What is your shoe size? As a taller lady, I wear a size 10-11 and I hate it! And WHY on earth does it seem like they only make huge stilletto heels in that size?? I have to buy shoes to go with a bridesmaids dress for a June wedding, and I dread finding cute, comfortable formal shoes.
Anyone else?
hey everybody, im a newbie here and have been finding it a little hard to relate to peoples cal intake and weigt loss when they're so teeny, I would love to join here... Currently 142, 5 10'' really want to hit the 135 mark and then tone the hell out of my belly, im almost not lookin forward to gettin there when I think of all the ab crunches... arghh!! I have a white pair of short shorts im aiming to look hot in by July, fingers crossed, immediate aim: by June 1st, hit 139 mark, June 29th (my birthday) wear my little shorty shorts.. ha! at approx. 135
Anyway, I did have a good moment yesterday that I had to share...I met my friends for a couple drinks and a taco (just one) and the bartender who was there, I haven't been in for a few months, well she was like, OMG, I didn't even recognize you. you look great! How much weight have you lost? When I told her 30 she was just shocked and said I looked good and very noticeable. I was having a fat day yesterday so that really boosted my confidence. I just felt ugly and fat!
Sheebz, congrats, 30 pounds is a wonderful accomplishment! Its always good to remember all the work you have done when you have a bad day, but another person reminding you is even better! I totally feel you on not being able to make it to the gym as often as you would like. Lately it seems there is so much going on after work it just keeps getting pushed back. The way I deal with it is to decide in the morning if Im likely to work out or not, and then Im ULTRA conscious of my food intake all day, to stay within a simiar defecit to working out. It really helps me to adknowledge in the morning if I will or will not work out.
Hello Tall Club - I've officially decided I'm not weighing this week as I've 'fallen off the wagon'. We had guests last weekend so there was much more food in the house than normal and I sort of had a mini-meltdown at work (many yrs of pent up frustration coming out all at once - probably a good thing). Although my food was fairly OK overall I'm likely up at least a lb. I guess we all have bad days. I just didn't have the mental energy required for working out and staying completely on plan food-wise dealing with all the other issues. Not beating myself up, though. I'm re-grouping this weekend so I can get back on plan. Hope ya'll are doing better than me - truly! TGIF!!!
Weigh in Friday Morning..142... I guess I'm happy that Im not gaining, but ive been tryin really hard this week and Im going to see an increase after the weekend for sure, going home to my moms for the weekend and there is way too much temptation there to avoid it all weekend, anyway on sundays i allow myself a nice big dinner.. yesterday after really not wanting to, I dragged my as* to the gym, usually once im there im fine, but could only do 30 mins on the treadmill and wasnt putting in any effort so I just left it at that.Really craving a scone with jam right now and usually as as friday treat id have one but I feel I dont deserve it now after not losing and being a lazy a*s last night!!
Feeling really good this week! I haven't lost pounds but fitting into my jeans very well and feeling thinner!!! The scale will move soon---I am sure of it! I started a challenge with a friend at work as to see how "fit" we could get in 4 weeks...coming to the end of this first week and feeling ultra motivated! I suppose it helps that I HAVE to be in a swimsuit 3 weeks from now and need to do what I can before then so I don't feel crappy about it!
We figured small goals (4 week intervals) would help us to reach small milestones and achieve our longterm goals.
Let's hope I don't blow it over the weekend!!!
Have a fantastic weekend ladies.....Good luck!

I hope I am doing this right?? I am just replying to the last entry. I smoked my last cigarette on January 20th, this year. Put on about 15 lbs. I am ready to get rid of that weight now. I started on Monday, eating healthy and exercising. Believe it or not, exercising is my hobby. I have tried downloading a picture, but something is going wrong. I am 5' 10 ", 48 years old. I am big into Harley's and riding, so I have to get in shape for all of the rallies that my husband and I go to. Looking for some motivation here. Really glad to see this site.

Friday weigh-in

Finally down a pound, but this week my weight has been bouncing all over between 165 and 168. Sodium I bet. Really messes me up when it's hot out.
And about having a hard time finding shoes? Yeah. I'm a size 11 and find a lot of shoes fit for a drag queen or shoes riddled with bows. And what's up with the frick'n super high heels?! I'm already nearly six foot tall with legs up to most people's shoulders...and I need to be taller? Maybe shoemakers think that their only customers are men wearing women's shoes or that big feet can only look pretty with bows and extreme arches.
Hey everyone! I saw this group and was so happy for a group for tall girls. I am between 5'11" and 6'0" and I hate joining groups where everyone's goal is like 105 lbs (not a confidence booster for me!). My highest weight ever was a during junior year of college at about 185 lbs. Right now I think I weigh somewhere around 165ish (I'll weigh myself in the morning for sure and post, I hate to weigh myself at night haha). My goal weight is about 145-150.
I decided to join this site because I recently graduated college and I want to get rid of the weight I have gained (and the very attractive pudge over my jeans) from all that drinking. It really hit home that I wanted to do this the other day when I was at my boyfriend's family picnic and his mom pulled me aside to ask me if I wanted the name of her trainer and nutritionist because it looked like I'd gained weight since Winter break. Ouch, I didn't think it was that bad!
Anyways, I'd really appreciate support from other tall girls and also some people to hold me accountable. I look forward to getting to know everyone better!
Welcome to Calorie Count Summergrl!!!! Wow, your boyfriend has a very... um... forward mother!
Well this group is just for us taller girls who realize that 110 pounds is not realistic (or healthy) for everyone.
Keep us updated with how you're doing, and good luck to you! I know you'll reach your goal and feel wonderful.

ugh!! I weighed myself today, and its confirmed....I gained a pound this week! I was at 156 holding steady for thre days, then I went to Chicago for a restaurant show (i do marketing for a restaurant company). Can I just explain that it is about 3,000 vendors ALLL with food samples! Agh! I am sooo good at the office, at home, etc... but the little samples killed me! They are so tiny and cute, and I ended up eating probably 30 a day. Anyhow I tried working out when I was there, ate a healthy breakfast and dinner, but now I am back up to 157/158 (my weight has shifted between the two the last three days!)
This weekend I am going up to Cape Cod for an all weekend memorial day party with a group of my college friends (translation = excessive drinking for 3-4 days!) What can I do when Im up there to prevent gaining more weight (ive given up on the idea of having any defecits) but still have a really fun weekend? Please help me!!!
-Danielle
