Quote  |  Reply

Lauren in San Diego here (5'11'').  I was up to almost 180 lbs at the end of last year and I lost about 10 pounds during Jan-Feb and then got lazy.  I need to get back on the wagon.  I think I weigh around 170 and I would like to be 150.  Weigh in on Fridays for me starting tomorrow.  I would love to chat with others who have similar stats and goals to stay motivated.  All my girlfriends are little petites, I need some amazon love!!

Let's look hot and healthy this summer!!!

Hey guys, how funny that we seem to be getting a lot of the same responses from friends. I have been told there are people I know who think I'm a lollipop head and think I have a disorder now.. right.. this from friends who weigh 100lbs!! I was at a festival this weekend, hence the lack of action on the forum, basically ate & drank what I wanted which was a lot of wine and vodka, pizza and ice cream.. it felt good but I am so dying for healthy food again, so this week will be a lot of clean eating and fresh fruit and veg, im looking forward to it, I will prepare myself for 2lbs gain this week, any more than that and I will be peed though!

PS. Booked a holiday to Spain in 6 weeks time, Bikini bootcamp will have to kick in asap!!

Hey girls, could use some inspiration.  I have been working hard for two weeks and have gone down only one pound, and then gained it back.  I don't know what I am doing wrong.  I exercise hard at least 4-5 per week, have a really active job and eat only 1400-1500 calories!!!  WTF  I know sometimes I eat after work ( I wait tables until late at night) closer to my bedtime, but I awlasy plan for those calories in my total count for the day.

You ladies are doing so great, Can anyone help me?!?!?

Hello Fellow Amazons...

Thought I would check in here for some inspiration... not losing anything, but at least not gaining anymore.

Do I really have to count calories?Surprised

Hi All!

I'm back from home and then florida for my husband's graduation. Luckily they had it, we were worried because of hannah!  Anyway, I ate amazingly well at home and at Florida. The last night in florida i had a great big meal (not a cheat, just more food than usual) and it was so satisfying after a week and a half of salads 24/7.  I had no desserts as sweets are what set me off on binges usually.  So I've been binge-free for over a month now :).

I gained about 1.4 lbs over the last 1.5 weeks of the trip as of this AM (we got in last night)...but my measurements were all down and my bf is looking much lower as well.  And I wore my skinny jeans last night around the house and they feel MUCH better!  I'm very proud that I got through this without completely sabotaging myself.  I was back on track yesterday (well, that jack and diet snuck in somewhere) and stayed at calorie levels well.  This morning i hit the gym and have been eating great!  Waiting for those next 6 lbs now...at 175 I'll be the lowest I have been in YEARS.  Then onward to 170 (YIKES, that's low!) and to the 160s??????? Doesn't seem possible but we'll see ;).  Motivation is great right now!

Hi tallies--long time no see. I've spent the last few weeks housesitting/on vacation/visiting friends and haven't been able to stop in. Because I obsess over it too much, I've been avoiding the scale for the past few weeks. But, my size 8 jeans are becoming bigger and it looks like I'll have to invest in a pair of size 6 jeans. Progress!

In crazy news, I signed up for a 10k in November. The most I've run is 4 miles, but I'm still pretty confident that I'll be up for the race when the time comes.

This is my first race though, and I'm nervous. Can anyone tell me what to expect on race day?

Southern Midwife--your loss is INCREDIBLE. Good for you!

LaLindz--maybe you need to up your calories? I stall out around 1500, and need to be at least at 1700 cals to see any weight loss. Bytheway, SW 170, CW (as of a few weeks ago) 152, GW 140ish, 5'10''.

Lala and Yoga, welcome to the Zon zone.

Lala, I was stuck a while back because I was only eating around 1500-1700 (I'm 5'11" and was 160lbs). I experimented with eating more and after the first week of eating above 1700, I lost 3 lbs and have kept it off. Maybe try it for a week and see what happens.

Yoga, you don't have to count calories but this is why I do; I know I have to eat above 1550 calories a day to get what my body needs...so I don't want to go below that. When I want to lose I know I need a healthy deficit, especially on workout days. I never want to go above maintenance because I don't want to gain. I also want to know where I am as far as nutrition balances and extras (sodium intake, sugar intake, etc). And finally, I'm a big eater and knowing that I have to account for the calories in something keeps me in check. All of these things are accomplished by counting calories. I am a terrible estimator, so logging is an essential task for me. Extra tip; When I am really focused on losing, I also weigh my food to make sure my calorie counts are accurate. It's a pain initially, but becomes routine after a bit.

Carolally, yeah, some of the people who have expressed concern over my very slow weight-loss are thinner than I am too. I really think it's because they're afraid we're not going to stop. Now that I've been bouncing around the same weight for a couple months, the comments seem to be slowing. Eating disorders are scary. I have to admit, I've directed similar concern to a couple of my friends who had lost weight when they were already at a healthy weight. Once they stabilized and I saw they were eating normal, I stopped worrying. So I get it, but just think it's weird that people think of me as too thin when I have 22in thighs.

Happy Friday to all m'ladies, wow I cant believe its the middle of Sept already, its crazy, 4 weeks until bikini-ville for me (holidays to Tenerife, Spain), my pale skin needs some sunshine!! 4 weeks to lose 4 lbs, I cant see it happening seeming I havent moved at all in over a month, but happy to report back to my lightest this morning, even after a weekend of indulgence on ice cream, wine&pizza, so relieved I'm not up, although not down either, I'm content for now! My body seems to enjoy this weight, 129.4!! Seriosly, its either .4 or .6, never .5.. my scale is mad! what I cant understand though is I'm not eating enough to be just maintaining, I;ve always got a good deficit of 800/900 daily, so WTF, if this is maintenance then this is not cool!! Anyway ladies good luck and have a fun weekend, I'm off to a freakin food festival, well a festival that celebrates oysters.. so its free oysters, mussels, salmon the likes.. yum yum yum, at least its healthy, until you note the free bar..

PS. Skookum, you look great in your pics, totally toned arms and you look glowing with health, your friends may be just worried you dont see that.

Happy Friday everyone.

Don't give up now that you are "comfortable with yourself" again....keep pushing through.

Quick update from me because apparently I'm supposed to be going to some open house this morning. Ugh, kids for sale.

I lost those 2 lbs that I had gained within two days of posting about them last week. Water weight gone, woo! I had been peeing like crazy so I figured it was losing some retention. I also lost that one last pound to put me right at my original goal weight. It was actually another pound and a half but if I don't count anything after the decimal hopefully next week I'll have a 2 lb loss to feel all happy about.  3.5 lbs in one week, that's not bad!

Hi Ladies. I'd like to join your group if that's alright? My name is Danielle, I'm 26, 5'10". I started this about 3 weeks ago, and it's slow going for me so far. I take brisk walks at least 1 hr per day and try to keep my calorie intake at around 1300-1400 per day which usually gives me about a 900 calorie deficit. Any advice would be much appreciated! Thanks!

Today's weigh in:

:-)

Congrats Etahbear on making your goal!  I think i read you want to lose more? what's the new goal?

Hi Shea-I'm really new here too and 27 and 5'11" and weigh 179ish right now so we are very similar :).  My GW is 160.  Your calorie intake is very low--how are you feeling on that?  I think most of the girls here lose in the 1600-2000 range...and I have maintained before on 3000+ cals.  Have you thought about eating a bit more throughout the day?  Do you workout with weights at all?  Great job on the 5lb loss in 3 weeks!!  That's not slow at all!

Yes, unfortunately I'm going to lose 15 more lbs before I get my tummy/chin/arm tucks. I hear skin is really heavy though, hopefully I'll look like a supermodel when I'm done. *sigh* 15 seems like such a HUGE number now. I remember when I would have killed to only want to lose 15 lbs.

Happy Friday.

I'm back down to 157 on new scale...which would be 152 on the old scale.

I'm sort of stuck, or maybe just moving very slowly. But I'm cool with that.

Thanks Carolally, I feel healthy and know I don't look too skinny. I've realized that people are just use to be being a bit less thin than I am.

Edit:

Hah! My last sentance should read "I've realized that people are just use to ME being a bit less thin than I am". My goodness, the original sentance reads like I'm saying people are use to being thinner than me when I meant people aren't use to me being thin. One typo and the meaning completely changes.

Such a long day. Oh, had to cancel Doctor Appointment for work but am sure I'm in excellent health. I really feel great.

Hey everyone-

I am happy about one more lb down!  Yay!  The scale was kind today...another stressful week...not a lot of counting...but I must be pretty used to eating right about the same amount 'cause I am still losing even tho the counting has slowed.  Now the stress I've had keeps me very busy so I can't eat all day...so I'm sure that helps!

SW 178 CW 154.0 GW 150.  I had to add the .0 because it is so rare.

Skooks-from your pics I can't imagine that I am "ahead" of you.  We def carry our weight differently (duh!  everyone does).

Etahbear....pull out some old photos and inspire yourself for those last 15!!!  You inspire me!!!  Isn't it funny that it is so hard to look BACK and enjoy....all you can see is 15 more pounds!  I know we've talked on this thread about it...look BACK and see how far you've come!  You can't be bummed about 15 more!  You must feel like a different person!  And the comments you must get!  Keep up the good work.

Inittowinit-great job on your inches lost!  How fun!  I am frightened beyond belief to put mine up!    I know what you mean about staying motivated once you are "comfortable"....I totally went thru that about 7 or 8 lbs ago!  I was feeling like I was looking pretty good.  And I ate like I thought that too.  Good thing I love working out...I think that pushed me to keep up on the calorie side.

Hi Danielle!  Welcome.  I started at 178 and I've lost most of it since the end of May....so it may happen FASTER than you think!  counting was the key for me.  I exercised but I had done that before to no avail.

Carolally-maybe your body is telling you you are done!  :o)  800 to 900 def w/o loss may just mean your body isn't happy going down anymore.  How did you come up with 125 as a goal?

Well...happy counting everyone!  Have a great weekend!

em---I gotta post some new pics...I love all the new ones you all put up!  problem is I'm always BEHIND the camera

I was in a hurry when I posted earlier, now that I've had time to read the updates:

Etahbear; Beautiful photo! You have definitely brought sexy back.

Inittowinit; You are doing excellent. From the results, looks like we have another highly motivated and disciplined individual on the thread.

Emberjem; you rawk, at another pound down. So are you just 4lbs from your goal or are you working for a 1-4-5?

Where is Southern-Midwife? I'm always anxious to see the rear-whoop'n she brings to the thread.

I just read one of my first posts on this thread and was at 168 (old scale, so 16lbs gone since then). Of course that was a while ago, but dang. Emberjem, thanks for the reminder. I've been failing to look back at what I've accomplished. Ladies, that is a very important trick to stay motivated. Look at what we've done! I wonder what our collective weight loss is.

Great job everyone!

Hi All,

After two months of hiking/walking almost everyday, I am FINALLY starting to see the scales move.  If I'm optomistic, I say that I've been losing fat all along, but just gaining muscle!

Most recent SW (June 29, 2008): 206

CW: 202

GW: 175

It's a start at least.

Hi ladies!  I am back after a several-week hiatus.  I weighed in on Thursday at 152.5, so I'll post that as CW.

Great job to all of you who seem oh-so-much-more dedicated to this than I am!  Lately life has gotten to the best of me, and to be honest I've not been making the best decisions.  Exercise is still going well (did a 20-miler on Sunday, whoop whoop!) but food choices have been....lacking intelligence.  The main reason I've been MIA is becasue.....I AM MOVING TO BOSTON!!  So I've been apartment/job hunting which has been soo stressful!  I'm happy to say though that I've finally found an apartment so yay to that!  Now its time to focus on my health again.  Also, not to make excuses, but job searching is tough as well, esp. given the economy, AND I have had to rev-up my fundraising efforts for the marathon which is only 47 days away!

I will do a real weigh-in this week as I will finally be home for a Friday, so fingers are crossed!

Welcome to all newbies- I didn't read EVERY post but  Iwill later and comment.  Good luck ladies!

-Danielle

Hello to all!!!!

i havent been on here in a few weeks for i started a new job downtown and its occupying ALL of my time and energy! i almost want to quit so i can work out again!!!! lololol

i have been steady in the 180's getting VERY frustrated so i have opted to try Alli....any thoughts?

im off today so off to the gym i go!

E'dy

Thanks Skookum!  You have come a long way, congrats!

Nice work yoga!

Good luck on your move Danielle :)  And 20 miles!?  that's insane!

Edybean-I am NOT a fan of Alli at all.  it blocks fat but fat is a key component in fat loss. Fat intake helps to regulate all of your hormones and increases your fullness level as well. I would just track your food intake a bit more closely over the next couple of weeks and save your money!

Thank you innittowinit1

i appreciate your response. i feel like i have hit 35 and BAM!!! i have NO metabolism...at all! but then again i have to remember that i am not working out like i used to either.... no where close to it. i used to have a rule that i would burn no less than a 1000 cals a day...going to the gym twice a day to do it...but now, i rejoice over a measly 300! life is crazy these days, more busy than crazy. ya know?

i am going to use alli as a tool to scare myself into not overeating. because i am a big time "on it" 2 days and "off it" 3-4 days ...so now that im taking this, im SO fearful of **** my pants (LOL) ---i have been "on it" for 3 days straight and theres NO temptation of cheating....so, we'll see.

im a very low fat eater any way...its the desserts that i have a problem with..but angel food cake is FAT FREE!!! j/k!

thanks again!
