Lauren in San Diego here (5'11'').  I was up to almost 180 lbs at the end of last year and I lost about 10 pounds during Jan-Feb and then got lazy.  I need to get back on the wagon.  I think I weigh around 170 and I would like to be 150.  Weigh in on Fridays for me starting tomorrow.  I would love to chat with others who have similar stats and goals to stay motivated.  All my girlfriends are little petites, I need some amazon love!!

Hello ladies!  I weighed in at 152 today, after 151.5 yesterday! Woohoo!  I’ve been trying to eat a little better each day to get out of my junk food rut. 

 

Edybean- great work on the loss, you are doing wonderful!

 

Athompson- welcome back!  Your stats are very similar to mine!  I am 5’10’’ and trying to get to about 145, though 148 would be fab too!  What do you mean by DH and TTC (sorry if that’s a dumb question!)

 

Kate- welcome!  Congrats on your fabulous progress!  With losses like that I’m sure you can teach all of US a thing or two! 

 

Shea- I am so jealous of your rapid loss, you must have great self control! 

 

Caroline- I almost choked on my juice when I read the first line of your post I was cracking up so bad!  Congrats on that loss, you are going to look FAB in your bikini on your trip!  Its great to hear your diligent efforts are finally rewarding you!  By the way, in your new pictures you look GREAT, you say your sister is skinny but I think you are even skinner!

 

skookum- no news is good news in my book! 

Everyone- how do you tame your self control?  Any tips you have would be appreciated!  I’ve been around the same weight since JUNE!!! And I know it’s the result of my poor willpower when it comes to sweets!  As for my BMI- I don’t trust those things.  I’ve barely lost 9 lbs since joining here and EVERYONE I know comments on how different I look since my training began.  I know I’ve converted lots of fat to muscle, but that doesn’t show in BMI, so officially I am a 21.8, down from a 23.1 at my heaviest.  However, my body fat is down 20% to 17.5%, which is the lowest I’ve ever seen it (didn’t ever have it calculated until after I’d gained my “freshman 15” though!)

 

Hope everyone has a good weekend, I’m doing the Philadelphia ½ marathon tomorrow so wish me luck!

Everyone- Great progress this week. I hope that next week I can report losses like yours!

Danielle- Hope the race went well!!! I love walking/running halfs but I don't think I have it in me for the full. Even if the scale doesn't budge you know that you are really helping your heart health and toning up your legs!!

I too like sweets but I have modified what I buy so that the binge factor is lower.  For example, instead of a half gallon of ice cream where you can eat a "bowl" of unknown size, I get ice cream bars (I really like the skinny cow sandwiches -low fat 140 cals). It is easier to limit your amts but you still feel like your eating ice cream.   Also for a lunch dessert at work or school, I make trail mix with unsalted nuts and dried fruit and peanut or peanut butter m & m's.  With the candy interspersed it feels like "dessert" but you are getting fruit, protein and good fats at the same time.

hello to all!

let me preface this by saying "i am in no way shape or form promoting the use of diet pills...." but! for me...sweets are my weakness and once i start, i truly cant stop. so i am using alli as a crutch to wean myself off of sweets...today is WEEK TWO without sugar!!!! now girls, that is a celebration! lol

i am living in fear...of you know "treatment effects" but i am also 179! so...thank the good Lord....

i am hoping and praying that by the time my 20 day supply runs out, i will have transitioned into eating a low calorie, (1600 a day) and low fat diet...which, amazingly enough, makes me feel GREAT! i just feel better, all around.

with that being said..im off for a run...so i can enjoy a big fat fruit smoothie! my latest addiction....and quite expensive! but hey! im worth it, right! some choose starbucks...i choose smoothie king !lolololol  this weeks purchase--a big blender so i can start making my own...

Hello I hope yall all are having a nice weekend.

 I was worse than I had hoped  to be , but it could of been even worse. Yesterday I planned on having guacamole to snack on but as soon as I got to the tailgate I dropped it on the pavement :( I brought bottled water so I didnt consume so much alcohol. I did better at the tailgate but we went out to a party afterwards and then it was beer...Too much. And to make that even worse on the way home we stopped and got Whataburger! I did go get up and go for a run Saturday morning. I guess we will just try and be better next weekend.

I know everyone else is writing about how good they have been. I just wanted to write about my slip ups in order to confess and hope to do better next  weekend so I hope that it is allright if I do that.

 

Oh dear, I don't think we're *all* doing great, imonadiet. I had a HORRIBLE Friday, my Friday looked much much worse than your Saturday. I'm up yet again and just praying for my "normal" recovery by Friday. I saved room in my calories to have 2 chocolate chip cookies tonight though. I know I'll stay under my calorie limit but I still feel nervous about it.

E'dy- I think personally that if you're using alli as a tool to help you change your eating habits then they're totally fine. I sort of used Lean Cuisine that way for my first months and months of dieting. I used them to sort of reprogram my brain to accept what serving sizes should really look like so now an entire plate stuffed full of spaghetti just automatically looks like way too much food to me.

Today I am feeling so tired and I have such a horrible headache. I am still in my pajamas and it's 3 pm. I slept all night and I've laid around or slept all day. I want to get out and get some exercise but I just can't force myself. I need to ditch the 300 lbs I gained on Friday before next Friday. MUST GO GET DRESSED....no, nap time.

just so ya know etahbear....after my measly 3 and half mile run/jog/walk...i came home and blow dryed the sweat to my head...grabbed a smoothie and have been in bed ever since!!!! life is good ! lol

oh, i did get up to pop some popcorn ...twice.

 

Good Morning & happy Monday to everyone, I'm hoping for another healthy week! So I'm feeling like I'm very light for how I look now, because everyone is saying its a low weight for someone my height, but I really dont feel too skinny, I mean a lot of ladies on this thread, look a lot leaner than I, I think my lbs reading is misleading, I have very little muscle and while I'm working on this I think its pretty tough to build muscle when you're in a calorie deficit! So for this week I'm gonna focus on being more active I think.

On Thursdays me & boyf do something together where its just us, usually its the movies but I'm thinking this week it'd be nice to do something different that would involve being more active & fun, anyone have any suggestions?

Anyway hope all had a nice weekend, I went home to my Mom's and as usual ate a lot of her fab cooking, but once every two weeks is good for me I think !

PS. Danielle: I agree I feel BMI is BS, maybe its accurate for average heights but when I was bigger I was still healthy range & I did not look it, also you look way slimmer than yours would suggest, Oh and I must do the measurements again, I totally forgot.

Carol--do you or your bf or any of your friends or anything have a dog? Dog walks or playing around at a dog park are always fun. Also, any farmers' markets in the area? Those are great for bf/gf time, you can go for a nice stroll outside while making healthy eating choices together. Also, you can point out the prettiest flowers and let him buy some for you : )

 

This past weekend I ran my first 5k--it was on a runway at O'Hare airport in Chicago, and it was SO fun. In November I'm signed up for a 10k, and I gotta get my butt in gear for it.


Also, um, I'm a size 4 now? I don't understand women's sizes, but, wow--I nearly had a heart attack in the fitting room when the 10s and 12s were too big on me. I called in all the salespeople and demanded that they tell me whether or not I looked like a chubberson (I'm buying pants regardless, I told them). I'm down to about 150, and it couldn't hurt to get down to 140. I'm pretty happy with myself, I think. So,

Carol-great work on focusing on the health aspect!  My hubs and I usually walk to a coffee shop and hang out...therefore getting a good walk in and a good caffeine boost!

Etah-I'm sure you'll recover by tomorrow!  Good job on just TWO cookies, i couldn't do it.

imonadiet-bummer about the guac :(.  how'd the week go after the slip up?

Danielle-17.5% is awesome!  That's around my goal actually, great to see that it is achievable.

Well, I'm pretty much terrified to weigh in tomorrow. I had a BAD Saturday full with chicago - style pizza and WAAAYyy to much other stuff.  I've also confirmed my overtraining thought....definitely overtrained, trying to take it easy but I feel like I'm doing nothing. I lifted upper body yesterday but my legs just ache 24/7 so I haven't been able to do much cardio.  So I've been at about 2000/day with no exercise this week, after a gain last week, I don't know what to expect tomorrow!  Oh well, got to do it...hope you all have great weigh-ins!

Hi Guys. I'm having a really bad week. I've gained back 1 and 1/2 lbs so I'm back up to 180.5 but I haven't been cheating at all and still walking at least an hour a day. I've felt really bloated so I'm thinking it's water weight but it's still depressing that I'm not seeing any results again. Blah! So inittowinit, don't feel too bad, I'm right there with ya, I hope the scale is kinder tomorrow morning for the weigh in :-(

Hi Shea--do you measure yourself?  I've found that helps me a lot so even when I'm not down in lbs I can be way down in inches....

That's a great suggestion. I've been meaning to measure myself since I started this whole thing but keep forgetting to get the tape out. I'll try and do that tonight for sure. Thanks!

I'm with inittowinit1:  I'm one inch taller (6'), and my goal is 5 lbs more than yours: 175. I'm a bit older and don't want to lose all my body fat, or my bust will ends up around my navel - LOL!

Still not losing much.  My goal is to lose the first 6 lbs by Oct 4th (my 45th birthday) -- 2 lbs to go.  Wish me luck (and restraint).  I'm definitely getting in better shape - started some running to go with my walking!

My first post here so hi to you all!

Right, I'm 5'11", and currently 144lbs.. I used to be 133 but during my final year ay university I just didn't deny myself anything, lots of late and sleepless nights with McDonalds and sweets.. Now it's time to lose it again. I finished back in May but just been floating around this size eating naughty stuff but it's about time I got onto the old dieting bandwagon!

 

I lost 3 and a half stone (49lbs) in six months a few years ago eating 1000cals a day, but i don't know if I have the strength to start doing that again..

Dplatzer: How did the race go? you are my fitness idol, also 17.5% bodyfat is amazing, I am so afraid to measure mine, prob at like 30%, how does one go about it anyway?

Edy: How is it going with Alli and how does that work keeping you away from sweeties, I have the worlds worst sweet tooth, choc, candies, cakes, they are all satantic!! but heavenly at the same time.. so tough for me..and my dentist..

Loverobot: Unfortunately all the markets around me go on during the day So when the cold dark evenings come when i get out of work, theres not a lot of outdoor activity available, so yes opted for the movies again! But thanks for the suggestion!Maybe indoor bowling next week :)

Inittowinit: I have a little dog at home at my moms so I do love walking/running with her when im home twice a month, I have total dog envy at the moment, i miss having one, but it wouldnt be fair as I just would be away at work too much to care properly for it. I have been thinking about volunteering at the animal welfare unit as a dog walker recently but as ive classes & work most days Itd be tough to fit in right now.

Lilredsox: welcome to the gang, 49lbs lost is amazing work, also you dont look like you've much to lose, you look pretty toned and modelesque, is that 144lbs of  mostly lean body mass? did you find you lost a lot of muscle when you lost weight before and your metabolism is now shot to hell, I feel that has happened to me now as I havnt been losing on quite little calories and I'm afraid to go into maintenance soon.

Generally, its been a good week, I've been eating really well, consciously trying to up my protein, and treated myself to some chocolate covered brazil nuts, my fave treat at the mo, at the movies last night, I've maintained this week so still at 128.4lbs so if I lose even the last couple of lbs at a -1lb per fortnight rate, I'll be grand.

Ok, long post but its been a while, good luck and have fun over the weekend!

Congrats on all of your successes this week! I wish I could say the same....I've been speed walking my butt off every night and staying with in 1400-1600 calories per day and I gained 2lbs! BLAH! So I guess this just wasn't my week. I'll keep trucking along though...

Last Week: 179lbs

CW: 181lbs

SW: 187lbs

GW: 155lb

 

Welcome lilredsox :)!  Yikes, 1000 cals per day? I think i'd shoot myself!  I'm sure you can lose a few lbs the right way with just a nice 500-1000 cal deficit and nothing too drastic.

Carol-good job this week on upping the protein and maintaining!

 Shea-keep going, you're doing fine.  Do you lift at all?  We are bouncing around the same point right now 179-180ish!  Want to join me in my 177.something goal for next week?

I weighed and measured this morning--179. Down from 180.4 last week but my measurements are UP so I'm calling it a wash.  Time to refocus, up my protein, lower the cals and start working out again lightly.  I definitely have shin splints and my hips are bothering my quite a bit too but I'm going to push through it....goal for next week = 177.something.

I'd love to join you on that 177 goal for next week, although I'm sure it will be difficult for me since it's about to be that time of the month. I retain soooo much water that week usually! I don't lift at all, I've just been speed walking for now, and jogged a little last night. I'm trying to work my way up to running eventually. I'm not really in to lifting, I never have been.
