Lauren in San Diego here (5'11''). I was up to almost 180 lbs at the end of last year and I lost about 10 pounds during Jan-Feb and then got lazy. I need to get back on the wagon. I think I weigh around 170 and I would like to be 150. Weigh in on Fridays for me starting tomorrow. I would love to chat with others who have similar stats and goals to stay motivated. All my girlfriends are little petites, I need some amazon love!!

carol...yes..alli is working for me in the sense of steering me away from sweets...i feel like my cals are in the perfect range. you couldnt get me to eat anything sweet for nothing!!!! i do drink FF hot coccoa and have a FF pudding every now and then..its not the same as cake icing....but itll do.
we had a baby shower for this chickadee at work the other day and there was fattening stuff EVERYWHERE!!!! and i just dodged it...like it was the plague...so, YES..its working for me....i live in fear...but its working ! lololol!
im up today...but i ate a lot last night...im hooked on FF bean burritos. i make them at home...with FF cheese...they really help things to get moving!
im off to the gym....
question.....why is it that its easier for me to eat good at work then when i get home its like all H*** breaks loose... i dont get that...is it just me?
oh, and how much water are all of ya'll drinking...i do 2 quarts..but feeling like i need to do more...

Well I'm kind of sort of down a pound this week. The new scale says I'm down less than a pound but down some but I used my old scale which has been my OFFICIAL scale this whole process and it told me I weigh a pound less than I thought I did so I'll take it.
I'm going to be raising my daily calorie intake by another 100 a day this week but not take a break this weekend and see how this goes. I'm hoping that if I get more of the stuff I love into my daily life I won't need the full on cheats anymore so I won't have to deal with recovery time.
Good work this week, girls! Even the small gain is probably just water weight nothing!

My scale was the same this morning as it was last week, which is a good thing.
"Why is that a good thing?" you may ask,
Well, because I ate probably 800 calories in Thai Food last night. The calories fit into my allotment just fine, but I figured over 3000mg of sodium! Ag.
My weight is slowly, very slowly, still going down for the most part. But I seemed better at weightloss when I tried to maintain, so I've also been upping my calorie intake (like Etahbear). And I should mention (pat on the back here), I've increased my run time again. I've really been pushing myself there, so should probably eat more. Also, think I'm going to interchange Tae Bo into my weekly work-out. Get some more fine tuning on my butt.
So this is my first post and I definately understand the "amazon syndrome." Everyone thinks you look gorgeous because your tall and "built" but I want to FEEL gorgeous and lose that extra baggage.
I way 205 at 6' and want to get down to at least 180. I am very muscular so to do below that for me would probably look awkward.
I currently work as an EMT on 12 hour shifts so I find it hard to eat at the right times of day and eat the right things. I'm trying hard to pack everyday and I get lots of walking and lifting in at work.
I never have the support I need to reach my goal so I hope all you other Amazons out there are the right voice I need behind me pushing me to run a little faster or try a little harder!
Welcome grpape31! There is definitely support to be had here. It's also a really good motivator knowing that you have to weigh yourself every Friday and report on how you're doing. Well, of course you don't HAVE to but it helps. You pretty much *have* to be muscular to do your job, at 180 you'll no doubt look AMAZING.
well despite all my walking (20+ miles a week) and counting (1400-1500 cal a day) I have not lost anything since getting serious about this website two weeks ago... I am still 159 which is what I have been since July :( once I think I got down to 158.6 but the scale just won't budge. I guess maybe I really need to start lifting weights to get started losing again?
I am looking forward to nice fall weather which will make exceriseing outside so much more fun! Everyone- good work this week!
Hey all! I don't have much to report this week- I am holding steady *surprise surprise* at 152- same weight since July! Also- an additional bummer- got my body fat re-evaluated (caroline- the way I had it done was by a personal trainer- they pinch you at certain spots - arms, thighs, stomach, etc to take a reading, and also take into account your height and weight) and it was 18%. He did it two days in a row and said my lower reading from before was probably becasue I was dehydrated from a long run the day before :( so if you get it done its important to not drink much of anything that day, but be hydrated from before (so its best to go in the morning).
memphiskate- the run did go well- I finished it 2:02:26- but i went to the bathroom along the way so i probably could have finished under 2! also- I am SURE you could do a full if you set out for it! trust me- I am not one of those crazy runners who loves it/runs 24/7, etc and I've managed! also- thanks for the skinny cow suggestion- i tried them and they are GREAT!
Edybean- I am so impressed with your willpower at the office- it sounds like alli is really becoming your allli (lol). If you get a blender check out hungry-girl.com-- she has AWESOME "milkshake", "starbucks swaps", and MORE- and also a great blender suggestion- i forget what its called but i have it and I <3 it!
imonadiet- it sounds like you really didn't do much bad at the tailgate! like you said it could've been worse- and anyhow, a girls gotta have some (much earned) fun!
Caroline- we should set up a day for measurements, Im soo curious! does next friday work for you? also- as an idea for you and the bf- what about starting some fun kind of class- could be some sort of partner dancing, or even an intermural sports league (i just joined a kickball team and its soo fun- though i probably take IN more calories than I put out as its sorta become an excuse to drink...ha, but still fun!) or you could do yoga or something?
lovesrobots- girl, you are looking skinny! size four jeans is wonderful- and you look it! also- congrats on the 5k. my (college) roomie is doing the chicago marathon which i guess is in a couple weeks- i think she said there is an 8-K event that day as well? could be a good buildup race for you in between the 10-k!
shea- this may help you- I try to weigh-in just about every day, and if I'm having a really bloated feeling day I won't get on the scale. anyhow, if my weight is good for the week and there is one wack day I just throw it out! i guess thats why i like daily weigh-ins? also- I am going to try to do measurements next friday if you'd like to join :)
lilredsox- welcome! it sounds like you've got a good game plan. do you have time for exercise? 1,000 cals is soo low, you could eat much higher with some daily exercise! also- do you live in Boston? (figured maybe b/c of your sn). I'm moving up there next month!

Hey everyone! First off thanks for the motivation!!
I am down .5 lb this week to 180.5. It's not much, but I suppose I'll take it because this weekend was my birthday. I'm getting back into the swing of working out a lot more. I am going home in 3 weeks and don't really need those comments from my mother about my weight. My goal for this week is to do a minimum of 210 min. of cardio (already at 105 min so hopefully I'll surpass that) and eat more in the morning and less in the evening.
Hope yall all have a good week! I am for the first time ever living in a place where Fall is acutally a season and it is wonderful!!
imonadiet- I really like your strategy to count workout minutes by the week, versus the day. So often I skip a day and feel all bad. but hey, if its done at the end of the week thats what counts for the weigh in. Keep it up girl your doing great!

Danielle, soo weird, I actually did check up on my measurements progress saturday and have written them in a logbook so I will post them this evening and compare since July's measurements.
You know what weight is the craziest thing ever, Saturday morning I slept in late and was going for a swim so I didnt eat breakfast and I weighed myself around 2pm, not having eaten, 126.7lbs, then sunday after a huge dinner I weighed myself just for kicks, 133lbs, thats 7lbs in just over 24hrs, It didnt bother me, I just do it so I wont get crazy about the numbers, so I realise how silly getting hung up on a scale reading is.
Anyway that is all for today!!

Well today was a happy weigh in, down a lb since last week and now down to 127lbs, so just two more to go, i think the main thing i did differently this week was not overindulge last weekend, because I wasnt home to my parents, but I am home and going to a family christening tomorrow so I will spoil myself a bit, two weeks until my holidays and I finally get to see some sunshine!! Bring it on, hoping to maintain or maybe even lose 1lb before then.

hi all! Well, my goal for the week was 177 and I was so excited because I did SO well this week! BUT, I ended up gaining .4--now at 179.4 :(. It is TTOM and I do tend to bloat like a whale but I felt really great this morning and thought it'd be lower. Oh well, last night I put on my "skinny" jeans and they fit great! So excited that I get to bring them to see my hubs this weekend :). They did not fit last weekend even so I know I'm making progress despite the scale. I did lose inches in my problem areas...butt, thigh, lower stomach so I'm pretty thrilled. The scale can catch up next week.
I'm fully expecting a spot on weekend (unlike the last 2) to get the scale moving again. I feel really good right now though, really good :). Especially this morning when I was doing standing db shoulder presses with 25lbs each and the guys next to me were doing rows with 20's ;).

Okay, just had to come back :)...I just got my first weight loss compliment from a really skinny lady that I work with but haven't seen in 1-2 months. She goes--you lost weight didn't you? I said Yes (as i turned bright red) and she asked how much...I said 6 lbs! ha! She said it looks like 12!!! Woo Hoo! I should post some before and right now pics for comparison.....weight training changes my body more than anything! Lemme see if I can get the pics and I'll post em--hope you ladies have a wonderful day!
This has been the week from hell and to top it all off I didn't lose any weight. Yesterday I was so busy I hardly ate anything, way less than usual. Then when I got a moment I ran to the gym and did 2 hours of cardio and a half hour of weight training. Yesterday I weighed 180 and today I weigh 181 again. I am so angry I feel like punching a wall. Instead I just punched the deck with my behind (slipped and fell) so I don't think I'll be working out today. Bring on the pounds. sigh.
I'm the same. Think I need new batteries in my scale. Hasn't even changed an ounce in 2 days. Regardless, pretty sure no loss to report.
Erratic schedule this work week, so didn't run a single day. That is very unusual. But I've been eating well, for the most part. Got a bit sloppy with logging and avoiding certain foods (too much sodium lately! Ug).

Howdee folks--I am sitting at 154.2...about the same place I've been at all September. I think I've had weeks of overindulgence and weeks of under..and somehow it all balanced out to no weight loss. Up and down lots. I did NOT make it to goal by my goal date (birthday was what I was shooting for)..seems these last 4 lbs is gonna take some time. And I haven't been counting 'cause life has been too busy. And counting for me is of utmost importance.
So I'm still doing the weights. Love em! Inittowinit I totally agree weights changes your body. I think I look better now at 154 than I did 2+ years ago at 154. Then I was walking lots and medium weights....now I'm challenging myself with more weights and for longer. I used to be scared I'd look too huge and now I love the look. With my body my upper is small and my lower is medium...so by getting more shoulder mass I look more balanced. Plus I need the strength to lift all my growing kiddos. I'd love to see your pics inittowinit! I need to take some....been awhile.

ugg not a bit of difference still 159... eventhough I have worked out every day this week and eaten pretty well. Today was a fall festival at school with pulled pork yummm I did avoid eating the white bread bun though.

Etah- wow two hours of cardio impressive.. I bet the scale changes by tomorrow.
Danielle- Hope the runs are going well. What's your mileage for the weekend? I feel like we are having a similar plateau problem despite all the mileage (I am doing 8 this weekend getting ready for my half in December) I haven't lost a pound since July despite keeping up the activity level. Have any ideas about what we could do? I was thinking weight lifting might be the key?

Uhhh...I think the scale might change tomorrow as I just ate half a loaf of cinnamon crisp bread from Great Harvest. I'm not even going to look at the calorie information on the back. I'm going to take 4 days off from counting and then regroup after my anniversary. I still plan to break into the 170's by the time my son's birthday is here on the 19th.

GW- 170 (presurgery, hoping to be 160 after)
My chest is 36" and I have to puff up a bit to get it to that size, no surprise there since my body from under my boobs up is so boney it's kind of gross. You can see all my ribs and yet right underneath there I have a big old floppy gut.
Waist- 28.5" this is an inch down from when I last measured which is nice and all but I wish it was a whole lot smaller.
Hips- question mark on this one. I think I need to measure lower. Right around my hip bone I'm only 35". I'm new to this measurement thing so I'm thinking I need to measure around the fat part of my butt?
My thighs are 20" at the top, not too bad for a 6'2" girl I guess.
The part that depresses me is the whole "36"/24"/36"" thing. I've got the chest and the hips there but my stomach is 4 inches too big?! It's weird because I'm really hourglassy looking when you look at me straight on, just don't look at me from the side because I look pregnant. I really need that stupid tummy tuck.
Congratulations to everyone else for at least not going up! Why is it that when you guys stay the same I think that's not a bad thing at all but when I do it I get angry and eat sweet bread covered in strusel?
Etah: we are so the same, its my tummy that I hate most and even if I dont want to lose weight anywhere else, even though I still do, I dont know how to go about losing it!! I really dont think crunches would work as there is a layer of skin on top of any muscle Imight build up.
On another note though, good job maintaining, I'm always sort of ok with maintaining, as long as Im not gaining I'm happy, at this stage you should be too!! So congrats, dont be peed! Stay positive! you look great!
